She did get help, and then people flooded her comments calling her fat and obese when she was at a healthy weight. All those people who wanted her to get help so desperately, saying they would watch her if she got help, turned a blind eye and didn’t say or do anything…but then started criticizing her and making videos about her again after she relapsed.

There’s a really simple solution to all of this: STOP WATCHING. Seriously. Once she no longer has her audience feeding her mental illness, she’ll likely have to confront it. But when 100 million people watch her videos and millions of people like them, it’s positive reinforcement for negative behavior. Or you can keep “feeling concerned” while watching her until she dies.

The black mirror episode where the prime minister has sex with the pig is the same principle. If nobody was watching they would have noticed the princess was released. But people are fascinated by absurdity so they can’t look away. Same thing here. People will never stop watching her because her looks and behaviour is so abnormal and wild. Same people are going to cry and hashtag #ripeueginacoony when she inevitably dies instead of doing the right thing and unsubscribing and unfollowing her before its too late. Sad world

Nurse here! I'd love to see her blood test results. I guarantee she's severely anemic, has a clotting disorder, doesn’t have her menstrual cycle, and is probably very close to organ failure. The problem is no one can force her to eat a ton because her body will go into shock. She needs TPN or a GJ tube for immediate enteral nutrition. This is so bad.

We had a cat that came from an ex-roommate that was severely undernourished and it turned out the ex-roommate was feeding her kibble and her teeth were so bad she couldn't even bite into it. We didn't have the money to take her to a vet so we had to feed her wet cat food and *very slowly* increase the amount per feeding because we were concerned the sudden weight gain might tax her heart. She got better for a few months but unfortunately her heart couldn't handle the strain even as slow as we were going and she passed away very suddenly from a heart attack in her sleep. Just kind of confirming what you're saying. You definitely can't just shove food into an emaciated person's gullet and expect everything to go away.

@made-line7627 hi hun, it's Total Parenteral Nutrition. In other words, it's nutrition through IV administration, usually placed as a central line or a PICC line. Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter. This would be for people like Eugenia who need the nutrition ASAP, but not in the sense where she's actually eating by mouth. Hope that helps!

@Thedarkbunnyrabbit
@Thedarkbunnyrabbit 10 ай бұрын
I believe it is because people have been looking out for her and it's been intermittent. We don't know when she fell off the recovery wagon between 2019 and 2023. In 2019 while she was too thin she was at a healthier weight. If you sudden crash fast you die in a month or two, but if you slowly cut back more and more, your body basically has the ability to ration itself. It starts eating itself, you give it some food and it rations that as little as possible to make it last, and then you starve until it starts eating itself again and repeat. Having someone look out for you is vital, because there will be times you don't have the energy to do anything at all, and people will need to hand-feed you to maintain that delicate balance. Ultimately, there's nothing the human body is better at than finding a way to survive. If you give it even the tiniest inch, it will drag it the bloody mile. The tragedy, of course, is that this kind of bodily function is designed to be temporary, and physically cannot be permanent. It doesn't matter how thin you spread the butter. Eventually there will be no more butter to spread.

My daughter was subscribed to her, and one day I happened to see Miss Cooney and was absolutely shocked at how emaciated and pale she was (and still is) and had a long talk about what was going on with her. My daughter had somehow gotten the idea that she had some wasting disease or cancer. I had to explain what Miss Cooney's eating disorder is, and how it's affecting her, and how it is going to kill her, or rather how she is killing herself. I then told her that yes, people may choose to end their life, but that my daughter doesn't have to watch them do it.

I recently had to have a discussion with a group of young teens I teach in a high school who also had gotten the idea that Eugenia had some sort of cancer. I think they knew deep down that she has an eating disorder but I think it was just too difficult for their young minds to comprehend how someone could have a mental illness where they harm themselves to that extent. It was just a very difficult conversation to have with the kids, then their parents who had no idea about Eugenia either.

@@The_Catnipright after they ban all the fat positive freaks (what is literally the same, if not worse, because it is priced by society). Why would they ban Eugenia if they don't ban fat influencers? Or even trans? Is not a slow suicide, is a destructive mental disorder which is caused by a strong body dysmorphia which leads to eventual death. The woman needs a medical help, and her mother is disgusting. Eugenia literally can't decide for herself, she does not see herself in a mirror. I had been on her place and I still have moments where my disorder is seen. I admit, it took me years to fully accept and understand, but now I am "there", so to speak, I can manage like everyone else. I wish I could reach out to Eugenia, I would try get her to go to the hospital. If she doesn't go, she will certainly die. She is beyond help now. When I was battling with anorexia, I watched her videos a lot between 2015 and 2018. I was between the ages of 16 and 20. She was my reason to keep on that path. I ended up getting down to 95lbs and my family noticed and tried to get me help. I'm recovered for the past 4 years now. The fact she says that she is not influencing her audience is bullshit. Most of her audience are children and young teens. My best friend (15 & 5’1) at the time had an eating disorder. She only weighed about 80lbs, and I voiced my concerns about her weight. She knew that she wasn't doing well, so she tried to get better. She would talk about how much food she would be eating and the exercises she would do. There were some hard days where she would complain about how often her parents would tell her to eat (not in an unhealthy way or anything, just a normal breakfast, lunch, and dinner). A year later I’m happy to say that she's almost at 100 lbs and is aiming to hit 110. True friends, real family, they say something if they see something is wrong, but like many of you are saying, the person also has to accept the help. I'm just glad she's doing better and rocking it.

As someone who was hospitalized for an eating disorder over 10 years ago, I will say this: You never "had" an eating disorder, it will always be with you, just like you were never "once" an alcoholic. To say that you recovered, there's no such thing. If you are lucky, you get the help and you are given mechanisms to cope, if you are not, you live in a delusion until your body shuts down and dies. It will always sit in the back of your mind, taunting (I'm jealous of how she looks), it's easy to relapse and fall into old habits, especially when stress and anxiety are high. Thankfully, I was a minor at that time and my parents didn't let me get as bad as her as far as I'm aware (I'm 5'9" and got down to about 90 pounds). You also know you have it, and when people tell you to get help, you're sickly proud. The thoughts are warped: "Yes, look how thin and together I am" is the primary thought. You become scared to gain weight and the lack of calories causes psychological issues to the point where you physically cannot eat because it causes you so much mental pain.

hey i understand where you're coming from, I've had an ED for 6 years now. but i think this idea of "there's no such thing as recovery" is so incredibly harmful. if someone told that to me when i was at my worst, I'd probably just think that I'd never get better, so why should i even bother to attempt this non existent "recovery"? like yes its true that the thoughts remain at the back of your mind but perpetuating the idea that you'll never get better no matter what you do will only cause people to stop seeking treatment, similar to the case of eugenia. it's possible that *YOU* aren't fully recovered yet, which is evident by the fact that you're bragging about your lowest weight despite knowing it will definitely trigger people, but that doesn't mean you get to assume that recovery is impossible for everyone.

I had anorexia in middle school. It’s much more rare in boys and also rare to be that early. But I was picked on for being “chubby”(I wasn’t actually chubby). But you’d be surprised what people can make you believe when they try so hard to make you feel bad about yourself. I decided I wanted to make a change so I started eating less food which caused a downward spiral to the point where I was skipping out on numerous meals a day, and sometimes, I just wouldn’t eat. I lost tons of weight, looked horrible, and was very unhealthy during a time in my life when nutrition was imperative, puberty. Looking back, it’s hard to remember how I felt mentally because it was mostly an exhausted fog, but I do remember a few things. I remember eating anything made me feel guilty. I remember being SO skinny but failing to see it, always just believing that I was overweight or too fat. I remember there were mood swings, heavy ones. During the day I was on an obsessive mission to become skinnier, while at night I knew what I was doing was wrong and was afraid I would die in my sleep of malnutrition, also sleep was wildly uncomfortable and unsatisfying. One day, and I remember it very clearly, it was Good Friday(A Christian feast day during which one fasts), my dad asked if I would like a light dinner to break my fast. I declined, which wasn’t out of the ordinary at this point. He knew something was up before this point, but it was here that he decided to confront me about it very bluntly. He literally pulled me towards him and stuck his hand down my shirt. He was seeing how well he could feel my ribs. I think he knew right then what the problem was. He didn’t know how to confront it emotionally or mentally, he just knew something was wrong, so he confronted it with tough love. He sat me down with a big bowl of coco dyno-bites. I said I didn’t want any but he didn’t care, he said I wasn’t allowed to leave the kitchen until they were gone. He did this for a while and comforted me about the issue, saying that everything was ok and was going to be ok, and that his tough love, even some heavy yelling at some points, was with good intention. After a while, eating and the conversations made it feel normal again. I just, slipped away from it, and one day I ran upstairs for dinner and my mom said, “Wow, I’ve never seen you run so fast for food before.” And that was it. They never held it against me, brought it up, or have spoken about it to this day. It was a struggle I got over and they have chosen not to bring it up in case it still weighs heavy on me. As was brought up in “What is a woman?”, my parents helped me see around a deadly corner and took the necessary actions to make sure that I was healthy and wasn’t harming myself. I feel deeply for Eugenia Cooney and am sorry that she doesn’t have rockstars in her life like I do to make sure she stays on the right path. And I feel sorry for any child who is somehow allowed to convince their parents that their wildly unhealthy behaviors, from gender dysphoria to anorexia, is somehow ok and should be encouraged. Hope she feels better❤️

I was 19 when I had an eating disorder. I remember my friends and family expressing their worries, and how it strangely just validated my ED even more. That’s what makes them so hard to treat. You can say: “I’m worried about you,” and the patient will think: “Ah yes, that means I’m *almost* thin enough…” But conversely if they DO start getting help and you say: “I’m glad you’re looking healthier,” then the patient will think: “Oh no, I must be getting fat.” Which will send them spiraling again. This was exactly how it was for me. I’m 38-years-old now, and my ED is in remission. Fun fact for a lot of people, they never go away entirely. Every now and then I catch myself in those old patterns: “What if I just skip a few meals before my next doctor’s appointment so the number on the scale will be a little less?” Or “maybe I’ll take too much of this laxative,” because I want to feel “empty.” Or I’ll fixate on my weight, by checking the scale multiple times a day. Sometimes when I look in the mirror I still see a version of me that I know isn’t real -I will actually hallucinate that I am this big, blob of a person whose body fat is spilling out of my clothes, when realistically I’m a moderately-sized, 5’3” middle-aged woman who goes to the gym and wears a size 10-12. I’ve been through multiple diets over the years, and they usually result in ED-like fixation on my part. Anxieties about going out to eat, constantly checking to see if my belly looks “pouched.” I have had to hide my weight scale in an inconvenient spot to get to in my house to keep me from standing on it every couple of hours of the day. I feel bad for Eugenia, too. I, like most people, hope she gets the help she needs. And I also know from personal experience what a hard road it is to healing.

Secondly, shame on Tiktok and other social media platforms who are praising and highlighting her distructive behavior, promoting it to their audiences as "we support this", when in reality Eugenia's horrible mental state and unhealthy situation is an example to young kids who thing "this is beauty, this is heathy, this is what will make me famous and make me well loved by the world".

@@StrangeChickandPuppo I think she "self-isolates" herself from real connections in her life. Her "friends" and the "love" she receives are all her fans and commenters. She doesn't have any real life connections that can speak into her situation. That probably started happening when her friends lovingly intervened and she felt betrayed. Not even her mom is intervening and helping Eugenia's condition, which personally I do think her mental state of "I'm a 15 year old goth gal" in a 29 year old body is concerning on top of her ED and other issues. Unfortunately, I think she's okay with this path that she is on and no one can really stop her if she wants to live her life that way. Although it’s beyond infuriating to watch her slow demise, I’d imagine it’s the same thing as any addiction would be as in “they have to be ready to accept the help for it to click and resonate”. My sister was in recovery for addiction years ago and has since remained clean and I truly believe it’s only because she wanted to and was ready. Any other circumstance will yield temporary compliance at best only to slip back into whatever problematic issue and become even worse.

My sister is anorexic. I say is because I’m not convinced she’s ever fully kicked it but she is at least got skin and muscle mass. When she met her husband, they decided to try for kids before getting married (she was 28) because she wasn’t even sure if she could (4 years without a period) and he had gotten divorced previously because his wife decided two years in that she never wanted kids. The long term consequences are an issue all their own.

I understand her predicament, but I can only have so much sympathy. I believe that the reason she doesn't seek help is simply because she doesn't want help. Regardless of whether her mother had a hand in her eating disorder or not, she's had so many chances of leaving her and moving on. She's 29 years old, she isn't a kid anymore. She can do what she wants and she chooses to not eat and show it on the Internet. I think it's amazing that she gets so much love and support from her followers. But at some point we need to understand that some people just don't want to be saved. I stopped watching her videos a long time ago. I know I sound harsh, but for someone who's in total denial, harshness may be the only thing that works.

well, mentally speaking she is far from an adult; her brain and body are suffering from starvation at least since puberty. Her mom is feeding into her delussion also. Can't fully blame her for not seeing how unhealthy she is...her mom on the other rhand has no excuse; she is just vile feeding her daughter into this delusion and keeps on watching how her daughter slowly wilts away. As someone who suffered/suffers from anorexia, she is enjoying the attention, whether if it's positive or negative. You simply can’t compare an eating disorder with being trans. You are born trans, and transitioning helps to even out this sort of inner imbalance. Most eating disorders are caused by trauma. Its a form of self destruction. Being trans is not harmful, being anorexic is. Both are not attention seeking behaviours.

This! I think an even more similar comparison is hypochondria. I have hypochondria, so if I go to the Dr and say this mole on my arm is cancerous and they say "You're right you have cancer, no verification needed!" and then just gives me chemo, is that kind of them or is that malpractice? it's freaking malpractice. Same with the trans stuff. All these docs should lose their licenses.

It’s so sad what an eating disorder can do to your body and I completely agree saying that eating disorders fall on a spectrum but also too that at a certain point it gets to a point where even if she were to put weight on you’ve done way to much damage and your body will never recover from it and you still won’t ever be healthy no metter if you’ve gained 100 pounds or even stayed the same weight

It's not just TikTok that's pushing/highlighting her content -- KZbin is also doing it. I've had to flag at least 6 videos over the last 2 months of hers that they kept pushing in my feed. I tried to tell YT not to show me the content and flagged it as dangerous content and they keep pushing it. It's just horrific.

The mother must have a very severe addiction issue. There is no other reason to ignore this in your own child. Plus the singsong/slurred speaking in the livestream. Devastating.

From new videos of other YTber's commentaries, I found out she "coughs" but it looks like she gets a bout of panic, with her eyes looking a bit red. Some people said it might be gas travelling from her empty stomach or possibly heart palpitations brought by strain.

I remember hearing about her like 12 years ago. And I periodically hear about her every couple of years and each time she’s even skinnier and I’m im even more confused how she’s still alive

I grew up with watching videos of Eugenia and while I do feel for people wanting to get her help and I support that 100% she does need it, but there is also a big part that a lot of people are missing that she is an adult and has to also come to the realization she needs help.. no amount of petitions to ban her off social media is going to make her realize that. If anything all these petitions are increasing her following and attention. for being unhealthy. It will be an endless cycle and regardless even if she got banned I wouldn't be surprised she would come back still the same. I see the goodness in people's hearts for trying to help her but she is a grown adult and if she wants to live a miserable life that is unhealthy then so be it. That might be harsh to say I wouldnt be surprised if I got back lash from this comment, but the truth is she is probably not going to change and people are just feeding into her and giving her more attention. I hope she does gets help but the probability of that is low in my mind.
