For example I am a Business Man who's aim is to increase my profit and two candidate with same knowledge, talent and are willing to put same number of hours, etc. Then why would I hire Male candidate? Just because it is a law in Scandinavia doesn't mean it is the right thing to do. Expecting to be paid for nine months without working is not equality, it's entitlement. I am Surprised that although being in media the journalist has no clear facts as to why gender pay gap exist, only considering Stereotypes which accounts for less than 4% in the various factors that create the pay gap . Honestly this is my experience.. when I was in college ..I went for a part time job as a candidate for event management.. even few girls were there. . so I was being paid around 300 rs a day and the girls were being paid around 600 rs a day.. when I finished my college and joined in a company as Freshers I saw both the gender were being paid as equal . So this was my experience.. my point is not just ladies are being paid less..also men are also being paid less in some industries where ladies are being paid good money..so it is not just women

Gender pay metrics are actually the median of the salaries earned by working women and men. While it is known that women tend to lean towards professions that are more about nurturing/caring (ex. Teachers), men look for harder jobs. (Ex. Engineer). If you take the median of these salaries it's obvious that women's no. is quite low. Even if there are women in higher management, it's less no. compared to all of the women. I do respect that women do house hold tasks and take care of family. It's not a topic for gender pay gap. It's our societal one as we kinda have this way that man has to work & provide and women take care of house. (C'mon who doesn't love to be a stay at home dad). Hope this thought process changes and then one-sided views can be changed.

The only point of people not liking gender pay gap is that people think or assume that women would work less or would not be able to work as fast as men in the informal sector , despite the fact it doesn't matter , you know men can have the same speed as women so just assuming they would work less and then pay them less is wrong . In informal sector working in a 9 to 5 job it doesn't make sense of as the women work same as men and then also being paid less. I never thought it existed until a new joinee's salary was accidentally routed to me. He was just BSC n i had a masters. I immediately resigned. They tell some women you lack degree n after degree they give excuse ki you lack experience n always pay lesser. The ad specifies 20000_40000 while reality is 15000. So people do cheat women n their share especially in corporate. Govt mein tho if one person retires automatically another person gets double responsibility without pay. For women that's really tough. Men refuse to work tooth or nail.

People are there to do business and earn money. In a country like India where competition is too high, companies want employees giving most of their time to their work. If you were recruiting. Wouldn't you give money to the person who can work odd hours and wouldn't require maternity leave. It's a harsh reality. Though gender pay gap doesn't exist. It's calculated on average money earned by men and women. You'll find more women in lower paying jobs. But for the same work there is little to no disparity. Gender gap is not an issue. The recruitment of employees on these conditions are the main issues. Also a simple question. If your maid didn't come to work for 2 months because she was pregnant, do you still give her the salary for those two months. If you dont, you're in the same boat as the people who didn't recruit you. We need to figure out a middle ground for such issues where both the employee and employer can agree
