I'm not too sure about that. While initially the prequels were "disliked" as the years have passed they were accepted and even loved by fans. Time and seeing what George was trying to accomplish after the fact helped and things like The Clone Wars cartoon/EU books/comics fleshed out the universe. Not to mention all the kids that saw the prequels, loved them as part of their childhood and then grew up into adults that loved the prequels. I would like to think if George held on to Star Wars and did the sequels he woukd have learned from the past, grown more and produced some decent movies. Hindsight being 20/20 I bet there are plenty of fans that wish they hadn't been such garbage humans about the prequels.

Frank Herbert just ripped off John Carter, Greek mythology, and Lawrence of Arabia. Star trek was thought of before Dune 💀 . I'm tired of people acting like Dune was the first science fiction fantasy book when at the point when it came out there were several books like that made at that point. Not Saying lucas wasn't inspired by Dune. He has been open to his inspirations for Star Wars since the beginning, but to act like like Herbert is some sort of Original God even though he very CLEARLY was inspired by other novels and stories is beyond me.

I love the Greek myth reference in particular- go on then- list the similarities between Dune and your aforementioned authors and I’ll list the direct plagiarism by Lucas. Had you read Herbert’s work you’d be aware of what a reach all of those references are. You’re tired of it from the standpoint of a Star Wars fan who isn’t aware of the blatant plagiarism without which Star Wars wouldn’t even exist. Lucas just lifted direct themes as well as specifics right out of Dune. Once again, I'm not denying that Lucas wasn't influenced by Dune. It's obvious if you've looked at the material that he was. But the reality is, Lucas was inspired by many, many things. Separately for EACH MOVIE too. It's impossible to create art without being inspired by someone else's. It's also pretty ignorant to not realize how the story structure and themes of Dune came long before Herbet and has been told in many different novels and ancient stories long before it. I'm not going to through a list of specific things because I don't want to go through a long back and forth argument with you about this. Point is, Lucas deserves credit for showing that kind of world on the big screen at a time where movies being made like that were being forgotten. I’ve seen it, you’re regurgitating every Star Wars blog that’s ever been written on the topic. I have read Dune and I've seen the films too. I'm well aware of the story and what happens. I'm was not giving examples because I don't want to argue and I don't need to prove myself to you or anyone else. Paul's Journey is very similar to Apollos journey in Greek mythology. The act of being seen as a God like figure from a prophecy, Apollo has an ability to see the future, and has to conquer a serpent like creature to fulfill the prophecy. It's similar to Lawrence of Arabia because of the Idea of a primitive culture looking up to the young soldier as God and that power and worship getting to the persons head presents itself very similarly to the way Dune does. It similar to John Carter because Princess Irulians role in the Dune novel mirrors Dejah Thoris journey. With her responsibility to the thrown and to the people. All these stories came out YEARS before Dune. Don't tell me I haven't read it, I definitely have.
