@@GrowSomethingTasty I am a fairly adept hydro-grower... i've had some really good success... But I grow indoors.. and the temps in summertime in my space makes hydro a non-option... my soil grows have only been so-so.. I'm hoping happy frog will help in that regard... I know Ocean Forest is a little too hot for seedlings, so maybe this is a better option.... the 'veggies' that I grow sell for $300 an ounce... so for me.. price isnt a factor.

I've used happy frog soil and I agree it is expensive but it is really good soil.
@GrowSomethingTasty2 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's real good. How do you use it? For starting seeds?
@GR1MMR3AP3R1872 жыл бұрын
@@GrowSomethingTasty no sir, I started the seeds in peat pellets, then planted them into containers of happy frog soil. And there they stayed for the remainder of the plants life. And after those plants were done, I recycled the soil into my garden beds as it still had a lot of life left in it.

Thanks for the video. I’ve been using Pro mix. just ordered a bag of happy frog to try it. It’s interesting. Some of their products are listed as organic certified and some are not. Happy growing.

HELLO Organiccleanfoodconnection, you are welcome. Let me know what you think about the happy frog potting soil. I did not know some of their products were not organic. Thanks for the information and for commenting. I appreciate it.
@organiccleanfoodconnection Жыл бұрын
@@GrowSomethingTasty I maybe mistaken, but I don’t see the OMRI certification like the tomato veg fertilizer. I know our government is upping the rate for organic certification. One of our largest greenhouses in the area has dropped the certification because of the cost. Most countries in the world are helping farmers to convert to organic. There is no such thing here. OMRI is a higher standard then our USDA. Keep up the videos :-) eating plants alive is the secret to health. And everyone should be growing something that’s worth eating.

This is good soil for seeds & new cutting. Its much lower in nutrients than the ocean Forest.

HELLO Gym E, yes. You are so right. I have never tried Ocean Forest. I might have to give it a try. Thanks for watching and commenting.

@@GrowSomethingTasty I grow legal cannabis ( and peppers but I don't spend the money on this stuff for them). The ocean Forest is the best soil on the market. It's also around the same price. You could potentially burn your plants using it in the very early stages. Happy Frog up till the 1 gallon pot, the ocean Forest when I move to the 5 . Even if you use nothing else besides water you'll notice a BIG FAST Improvement.

I recently decided to try this soil because of a certain ingredient it has that Ive heard good things about. Starts with an M. Anyway my two baby strawberries died after transplanting. The stuff does not hold moisture well at all. I decided to do an experiment growing greenbean seeds using Happy frog in one set and miracle grow in another. So far the MG seeds are sprouting strong and nothing sprouting in the HF. Maybe a bad batch but I have yet to have success with this soil and multiple other plants & seedlings. Will not waste my money on it again.

HEY, Shananna!!! WOW! I'm sorry to hear that. Yes, if it'd not working for you, you have to try something new. I have not had that problem, I was just thinking it's time for me to buy some more. I have been using it for 3 years now. Thanks for letting me know.

I get the Happy Frog organic potting soil from a local hydroponic store for $23 a bag that is 2 cubic feet. I've been using Happy Frog for 4 yrs winter sowing seeds in milk jugs successfully! Now I want to know if I can mix it with the soil in my raised beds? What's your recommendation?
@GrowSomethingTasty8 ай бұрын
HEY, Sharon!!! Wow, you hit the jackpot with that price for 2 cubic feet. I would add it for sure. If you are worried, try one bed first. Most gardeners I know said they would use it in their beds, but the price is too high for them. That's the only reason I don't use it in my beds.

We start them in HF then transplant into OF for max results. You could top them with OF now because it’s too late to transplant and get better results.

@GrowSomethingTasty2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mr. Poole are you using Happy Frog for your potting mix? This is my first time using it but I see others say that's all you need. I know if you are making potting mix for your buckets you need 1/3 compost, 1/3 perlite, and 1/3 fertilizer like worm castings.

Exact same bag, probably a different lot #. I usually use ocean forest, but my power steering was messing up so I got the bag from ace hardware which is close by. After this season I'm going to try something else that's organic and if that doesn't work well enough I'll switch back to ocean forest.
