I have 2 daughters, and the women I know who have a career, home, and kids are often burnt out and simply exhausted. In my opinion, you can give 100% to one or the other, but most likely not 100% to both without burning yourself out at the same time. That being said, not everyone is the same, and not all careers are the same. Also, things change as the children grow older and become more self-sufficient. I know of women who have had children in their early 20s, and then started their careers in their mid 30s when the kids have become more independent, working all the way until retirement.

Yes, I’ve met many women with successful careers who had children young and then focused on their careers once their children were in full time school. It seems to have worked out well for them. I know older women who are now starting families but feel they have to rush back to work which then means putting their babies in full time childcare 😕

Narinder is right. You really can’t have both. Goes for dad’s too. There is an impact to having kids. Better to accept it and be happy with the sacrifice, then to delude yourself and be disappointed.

My wife looks after my kids,i work because thats what real men do ,i couldn't wrap my head around doing it the opposite way round, old school

Interestingly in my family, my parents' generation, it was the men who had higher paid jobs, so the women sacrificed their careers while the children were small but went back into work. I don’t know how people keep their careers going full time with small children, i value the time i spent with my mum when young, my parents saved up to have me, so my mum could take time off work to bring me up before i started nursery. It's not possible to have both, sadly 😢

Because the reality is, women do the lion share when it comes to parenting.

She right you can have kids and a career but the reality is ONE of them is going to get more priority/investment than the other. Majority of people arent self-employed they are working a 9 to 5 job and for most people the amount of holidays you get is usually used up for school breaks. How are you and your husband going to put 110% into your career to progress further if you know someone needs to be at home to feed and send the kids to bed

This world forces both parents to work to survive and to able to give them a treat. When women wanted equal job opportunities its doubled the labour force. So companies could pay less because of the numbers of people willing to work for that lesser pay increased... Its simple mathematical logical facts... Hence why both parents need to work therefore causing higer numbers of children coming home from school without a parent their... All part of the broken families children need a parent 24/7 and that cant happen if at least one aint at home... Look at stats on single parenting and behavioral problems... And it includes both single mums and dads.. a child just wants both and each one give a different role in the childs upbringing... A mother love and empathy and a father's guidance and drive. Anyway thats my opinion. Just look at family's 40-50 years ago to today's families.
