Respect works both ways!🙏 Also respect nature, animals… look how dogs are treated by locals. Look how garbage thrown all over the place🤦🏻♂️💔 Look how local selling all land, destroying cliffs etc. Maybe why there’s lack respect from foreigners towards locals as see locals have no respect own place. Foreigners can purchase property in Bali through land use rights as long as they meet the requirements set by the Indonesian government. There are several land ownership options that can be taken by foreigners in Bali, namely Right to Use, Right to Build and Ownership Rights. Right to Use is a right granted by the state to Indonesian citizens or Indonesian legal entities to use land owned by the state or by other people who have rights to the land for a certain period of time. Foreigners can obtain Right to Use land in Bali through a company established in Indonesia Right to Build is the right to build and own a building on land owned by another person for a certain period of time. Foreigners can obtain Right to Build on Balinese land on the condition that the land is owned by an Indonesian or an Indonesian legal entity. Right to Own is the right of full ownership of the land and the buildings on it. Right to Own can only be owned by Indonesian citizens and Indonesian legal entities. Therefore, foreigners cannot have Right to Own land in Bali, but can have Right to Use or Right to Build. Foreigners are only allowed to own property in Indonesia in the form of a right of use for a maximum of 30 years and can be extended for 20 years. However, there are several alternative ways that can be done such as establishing a local company in Indonesia and having ownership rights over the company.
@jonlbdg3 ай бұрын
Excellent summary … the only point I would add is that even when a foreigner sets up or holds share in a company it is considered a PT w/ PMA participation- so you still can’t own the land Hak Milik (only Hak Guna Bangunan) as you describe above 🙏🏻

I used to work in NHK's representative office in Jakarta - it's Japan national broadcaster btw - so I had several Japanese expats working there, and I was in charge as general affair that basically had to "taking care" of these expats (plus families) to work and stay in Indonesia accordingly to the law. I wasn't the one who's expert of these stuffs, so usually foreign companies always have their own "agent or representative" to handle rule/regulation/law in Indonesia, including tax, immigration, banking system, etc for example : NHK works with Ernst and Young (EY) to handle everything related to tax ... and it's my job to make sure everything about these expats, were well reported to EY - so that there will be no problem happens to them ... and this goes the same related to things with the immigrations, banks, insurances, or even the police My point is ... for foreigners who want to live or open business in Indonesia, make sure you have realible local who can handle everything related to local authorities - just imagine you want to camp in a jungle and you'll be dead if you don't bring someone who can guide you what to do, lol 😂 Indonesian's law is very tricky indeed ... and sometimes doesn't make anysense So, do believe me ... let the local (who you trust) to handle it ... also make sure this person knows how to talk with authorities, plus has "strong" faith and responsibility to do the right way The thing about Indonesian laws ... bc sometimes it's too complicated, ppl tend to choose short cut such as bribing the authorities - be careful, bc this could push you into even deeper problems ... meaning : don't bribe, even when you think it's ok

I was in Bali in June during a heavy downpour and saw some locals persistently trying their luck with a white European girl. After repeated advances, she threatened to go to the police. It’s a risky situation for anyone to intervene-you wouldn’t want to end up in serious trouble or worse. Indonesians often have strong beliefs in the supernatural, and sometimes their tempers can flare quickly without much rational thinking. It’s interesting how their behavior can seem different when working abroad. In their own country, they can act with a certain confidence, as if it’s their own domain.
