Hey Randy, any chance you could do a comparison of the SVS Ultra bookshelf with sub, vs SVS Ultra tower speakers? I’m thinking that the ultra towers would be a better value proposition considering you don’t have to buy a sub nor speaker stands…

I run the Prime Towers as my mains in a 7.2.4 setup (with Prime Center, Prime Sat surrounds, Prime Elevations on the ceiling and dual PB2000 Pro subs). They're great with 2-channel on their own but after some integration using MultEQ X and assigning them a 4th order rolloff at 40Hz, I got near-seamless transition to my subs and have really liked listening to them that way. A lot of people find the SVS Prime line harsh on the high end, but I found that this mellowed out after about 20 hours and left the detail and soundstage that I wanted. They're very capable and dynamic speakers.

Jeremy, for a newbie who loves these speakers, can you explain or point to a website for “4th order roll off at 40 Hz” Thanks!
@TheReverendSlim2 жыл бұрын
@@PaulLall It is something you can only change with MultEQ X. Basically, I am giving them a faster transition to the sub based on their in-room response. I have found that I get punchier kick drums and bass that way.

Wow that’s exactly what I ran. But I changed my front stage to kilpsch rp 8000f and rp 504 center while it sounds pretty good I think the 3.5 way design of the svs and my ultra center adds another dimension and more movement to movies. The kilpsch are powerful and dynamic but svs adds more space and depth

I have 3 PB1000 Pros, so I feel you! Hell, even when I had two, they shook the room, and honestly, one would do it, but I wanted balanced bass throughout the room, so I started with 2 in the front, then added a 3rd in the back with the rear surrounds. Honestly, I thought I was wasting my money, but it worked out great having a sub more near field.

@@chrisveltman1795 those are on the list too! Haha not sure I'd do the floorstanders or bookshelves. And not sure I can handle another project right now. @erics.41132 жыл бұрын
@@chrisveltman1795 I don't doubt that they do. With the kit, flat packs and upgrades they are about $1400 all in or $1000 without crossover upgrades. And you have to build them. So I'd suspect if a manufacturer built similar quality speaker they could sell for 2-4k depending how they finished them. I'm not saying any of that is bad. I'm likely going to build a pair of these one day and I do some hobby woodworking so I have most of the tools and (some) experience working with them so these are a nice match for me on both fronts. I'd run them with dual subs so maybe they would have to be far from the wall to balance out. I like bass, but I also like my neighbors and I don't like when bass mucks up the rest of the response when it is overdone. But I think placement may mitigate in this scenario. To me it looks like you get near floorstanders levels of freq response from a 2way and that's awesome. In the meantime, I just saw the JBL studio 530 (bookshelves) are being sold direct from JBL for $240 a pair. Since audioquest recently got me on a power cord of the same cost, I can't pass up on jbls offer to try these speakers at this price. The 590 have me curious but I went down this road with Klipsch dual 8" towers and they are beasts for my small room and I don't think I'm going to do that to sample JBL. I realize the CSS are in a different league. Same thing happened when I found some used sonus faber and suddenly my bevy of more budget speakers all sounded ridiculous in comparison. Just the tone and sweetness and refinement differences were too stark to ignore when switching back and forth. So although the 530s may also become more wall art after a short period, I am just too curious to try them out for that price and save the critons for when I have the stomach for the $1400 price tag and plenty of free time to assemble.

Hey man, been watching for about a year, love the content (dad jokes/corny sponsors & all)! Clearance section in the Walmarts yesterday had a few Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 PC speakers NIB $100, which I'm assuming is marked down in Allmarts. Online claims 160W RMS in features sections, also specs sheet says "Audio Power Output: 200" (lol). I doubt either is true. I'm not sure of original price, and I know PC speakers aren't your usual thing. Will these make me Audiophile? I mean "audio power 200" is HiFi's right? (joking) Honestly kinda curious what your opinion is of the speakers though. As well as PC speakers in general, both for pc use and non-pc use (phone, tv, raspberry pi). If speakers are complete Schiit, which I don't think they will be, but if all else fails $100 headphone amp? Has 3.5mm AUX become the MONO of the audiophile world? Possibly could be an interesting video idea. Maybe not worth the time and effort. MAYBE WE LIVE IN A SIMULATION!! Just spitballing here. Anyways, again, love the content dude! Randy, between SVS, Klipsh and Emotiva tower speakers, which do you think are better for rocking out?
@kingtrance3072 жыл бұрын
You really need to demo them all for yourself but Klipsch speakers no doubt are more dynamic and efficient. They absolutely require less power to play loud!

Randy I’m on the fence with a couple different tower speakers . I have a large room .Please help ! Im running Marantz 8805. Processor, with Marantz 8807 (7ch amp) . Along with SVS side surround , klipsch rear , and 2 SVS subs. I’m looking at the Emotiva T-3 and their XB amp, or possibly the new Klipsch R7 III diven from my Marantz. What would you recommend ? I do like my music loud and clear . Thank you

Would an old Pioneer SX-980 at 80wpc be able to drive a set of these pretty well?

Hey if you had to choose between the SVS Prime Towers, Elac Debut 2.0 F5.2 or Jamo C97 ii for your Gaming/movie/music setup?

Randy I'm torn. I have SVS ultra center, SVS prime bookshelf as rears, SVS subs. I want to know if You would recommend I get the SVS ultra bookshelf or SVS prime towers ( both $1200 a pair) as my mains and why? I'm replacing vintage Boston Acoustic t830 which still sound good.
@cheapaudioman2 жыл бұрын
Personally I’d get the ultras but I’m not a huge fan of floor mount speakers. I prefer a bookshelf and a sub

Also depends on room size Music Movies etc. A tower is a tower. If in US just try both and return that you dont like or prefer.

How would you say these stand against the ELAC F62 and/or UF52, for a surround movie/game setup?

Emotiva has gone crazy good nuts! Now the T1+ is $499.00/pair and the T2+ is $699.00/pair. Insane! Don’t know how they do it!

Just adding that when I bought the T2+, they have me an additional 10% off. $675 after tax shipped to my door. Insane for sure...

They’re made in 🇨🇳, that’s how they do it lol! Where ppl aren’t paid 40 bucks/hour with 400-pages labour agreements to boot (!). 😂
It sure as hell beats the Emotiva T1+ in the looks department, if nothing else.....

I've had my Prime Towers for about 9 months now and I still think they're great. However, they could be just a little warmer at times. The brightness can be mitigated slightly by placement/toeing them out a bit. Mine are in a small bedroom that is now my music room. Pointed directly ahead they lack a little definition; pointed directly at the listener (like near fields) they are a bit too bright, so I spit the difference. I'm running them through an older Onkyo surround receiver, but in "pure audio" stereo mode. I think they might sound even better through a tube amp. Regardless, I'm very happy with them.

@AudioGuyBrian2 жыл бұрын
For good "Punch you in the face" bass you really need cone diameter. 12" or 15" woofers with massive voice coils and monstrous magnets or large rare-Earth magnets . You need something you can drive with lots of power too. I do see these skinny towers being a good fit for surround side, and surround back speakers though.

Price increases are always annoying but shipping delays really grind my gears. Anyone living in the CONUS has it soooo good compared to the rest of us, but I'm guessing the 'overnight delivery' is currently a thing of the past. One of my partners in crime has been waiting months - yep, months - for a delivery from Slovakia but even goodies here in Oz can take an eternity.
