Work in a marine shipyard in Paducah KY piece of advice keep it warm in engine compartment during winter so the charger has warm air to pull in while it’s trying to start them engines when they are cold are a nightmare to start @duckgunchronicles

Yeah we have a trick on the tractors where ya light a piece of paper in front of the intake and the hot air from that is enough to get em going in the winter.

Here in southeast Virginia, i grew up the son of a commercial waterman. Dad had a 6-71 detroit in his workboat. Those things will run forever if you keep them maintained. The old men always said Detroits become addicted to ether (starting fluid). Use it sparingly.

Glad it's going! A little ether isn't going to hurt a motor sitting that long. Is it freshwater or raw water cooled?

It uses raw water from the river so we didn’t run it much, also we haven’t put the new water pump impeller in so no risk in hurting a 20 year old one that is hard as rock.
