Romania is a beautiful country and beeing Romanian as we call ourselfs today, is a great thing that everyone should be thankful and proud of. The pride is not due to the fact that we had the luck to be born here, but the fact that our glorious ancestors which kept alive our dream to live toghether again in the same borders after almost 2000 years of cruel history and separation of our people, put us in a position that we have today the freedom, priviledge and the great chance to be able to build our country as we please. The country has indeed many problems as any other country, but it is our duty to solve them and to remember that is much neded and productive for the future of our people to solve our problems whithin our own country istead solving the problems of other countries by supplying them very good proffesional doctors, engineers, labour which they are not even thankful for. I spent a week in Romania, Bucharest and Brasov. Beautiful country. Yes, the infrastructure is still under construction but there is investment in Bucharest. Plenty of potholes on the rural roads of the UK and other countries. It's because cars are twice as heavy as they used to be. Romania has 96% home ownership. Younger people in the West can only dream of owning a home. And Romania is still Romanian. It hasn't been overwhelmed by migrants.

Yes 96% ownership, but majority of block are before 1980's some even from 1930's and 40's, they're unable to ever sell them and best case scenario to keep it till they demolish it and re build it someday. It hasn't been yet by migrants, but we do take Asian workers which use Romania just as a landing board for the rest of Europe.

Salutare! Ti-am dat like pentru ce ai spus despre clasa politică română. În legătură cu statistica privind cei trei din cinci români nu sunt de acord. It's a nice country (I spend 2022 and 2023 traveling there) with great people but.... people are super depressed and lost hope in future (at least in cities - better to move outside of it), politics is fucked up (you have to get angry and start fighting politicians again I guess - thats the thing with romanians - polite and patient - until braking point) and bureaucracy is disaster... I had company there... after that experiance (0 understanding of the law) I decided never again company in country with complicated law (I had to littelary pay under table to do shitty things like registering car etc.) But Romania is great country to nomad with a car between city and city for 1-2 years. Absolutely adored it. :) If I would find some nice cheap piece of land I would even consider it as a retreat in the nature with small wooden house place.

@@NihilIslands Yeah let's say it like that - I never expected I will have to pay bribe to register car in EU before. :):):):) like 12 EUR (50 RON) - crazy stuff - and when you have to pay bribes on low level - I don't want to even imagine whats happening on the top... And in Timisoara I believe they just elected again for office guy who was prooven to take huge bribes - so people still vote for the same shit over and over again... :( Still beautifull country - just people are depressed (and it's says something from Polish person - as we are depressed - so you are more depressed) of great people.

Respectfully - I am a Romanian who lived abroad for 12 years and decided to return to Romania - Life is great for me since then and I never felt better than after returning. I even chose to live in the village in the mountains although all my life I have been a city girl! Romania is a safe country, far safer than France or other countries in Western Europe. There is a beautiful sense of community, people are kind and welcoming - you should see how a Romanian puts everything he has on the table when hosting guests - really good natural food, home grown. Also the Romanian poverty is overly exaggerated - I live in the poorest of Romania - Moldova province and even the people in the villages have visited, if not worked in a foreign country. They go abroad for Holiday in Greece or Bulgaria at least. Most people go to various resorts in the Romanian village but also abroad - For reference more than half a million Romanians vacationed in an Austrian resort in 2022. Also the purchasing power of Romanians is not that far off from the rest of the countries in Central Europe - According to the IMF (FMI) Romania's GDP/capita PPP for 2024 is 43 000 USD, while Hungary is around 45 000 USD, Slovakia 44 000 USD. For reference older members of EU such as Portugal have 47000 USD and Greece stands at 41 000 USD. Reference non EU neighbours are far worse off - Moldova 17 000 USD, Albania 20 000 USD, North Macedonia 25 000 USD. Even so called rich members of the EU like France stands at 60 000 USD which means that a regular Romanian purchasing power is somewhere around 75% of a regular French Purchasing power, which is worse of course, but I wouldn't call it poverty by any means. www.imf.org/external/datamapper/PPPPC@WEO/ROU?zoom=ROU&highlight=ROU
