You forgot about one thing in Poland-Hungary friendship - during WW II Hitler proposed Hungary to invade Poland, but Hungary declined attack or even help in any kind of agression against Poland, hungarian prime minister said Hungarians never attack theirs friends Poles, he would rather bomb their own railroads if he had to, only to stop invasion Poland. He said, it's matter of honor. Also after invasion, Hungary opened their borders for escaping polish civilian and various organizations took care of them. It shows great friendship between our countries, only shows great honor of Hungarians.

Okay it really hurts when someone says that “Poles call Marie Curie Marie Skłodowska”. It’s not like we like to call her like that, it was her real name! She was a pure Pole named Maria Skłodowska, and when she got married she changed her last name to Skłodowska-Curie. I wonder why so many of non-polish people just don’t want to call her like that. She was a proud polish woman (when she discovered a new chemical element she called it “polonium” as a tribute to Poland). She kept her polish last name and she didn’t like when people just omitted it, so please don’t do it 🙏🏼

@@turbo_bruh_moment There was a bunch of Polish revolutionaries after 1830 uprising against Russia, that thought that the enemy of Russia, the Ottoman Empire, will help their cause in some way and fund or arm another uprising, which ultimately never happened. The idea of fighting against other Slavic and Christian nations together with Turks was pretty questionable, but even Adam Mickiewicz apparently thought that it's super legit, because he died in Constantinople, while trying to organize Polish volunteers against Russia during the Crimean War in 1855. They were allowed to settle with their families in Polonezkoy after they escaped the country and kinda stayed there, got assimilated by the Turks a few generations later.

Poland is the first place I ever visited outside of North America, as well as the first place I've been in Europe (technically I landed in Frankfurt first but that doesn't count.) I have so much love in my heart for Poland, Poles were so kind to me and forgiving of my abysmal Polish, and I have so many fun stories from just being there for a week. I'm also a black american, so I was naturally pretty nervous about going, especially since the first few days I spent in a smaller town, but I felt so safe and somehow not alienated while I was there, especially in Krakow. I still want to visit a lot of other places in Europe, but Poland is pretty high up on my list to go back. Even though I missed my polish friend's birthday back in New York to actually go to Poland lmao.

Chopin spent most of his life in Poland - not France. He was born, raised and educated in Poland. He did spend the last 18 years of his life in France (not that unusual b/c of the close historic, political and cultural ties between France and Poland). Similarly, Madame Curie was born, raised and educated in Poland. She was 24 when she moved to France and became a French citizen due to her marriage to a Frenchman. However, she retained her Polish identity - often returning to Poland for visits and teaching her children the Polish language. This video makes it seems that both of these figures (as well as Copernicus) were only nominally Polish by birth. That is not the case at all. All three were Polish born, raised and educated and retained their cultural heritage and language.
@fanofcodd8 ай бұрын
Chopin's father was French , and Marie Curie did most of what she is famous for in France with her husband. I think the most honest way to say it is that they are both French and Polish without Poland or France Chopin would not have been Chopin , and without Poland or France , Marie Curie would not have been Marie Curie. I don't know much about Copernic life so I can't tell , but being a french person living in Poland I learned extensively about common historical ground

Needless to say that I am both sad and angry to see the current Russian invasion going on and wish the very best outcome for the Ukrainians. Will be interesting to see how a geography now vid is going to be done on Ukraine but I'd still look foward to it never the less. Of course I also like you Poles as well and quite a lot of you also live in the UK with big communities in places like Liecester for instance with 8 to 10 polish super markets in total. Since we’re on the topic of Poland, Poland doesn’t border any of the countries anymore, prior to 1990. East Germany reunified with the West to create Germany, Czechoslovakia is now Czechia and Slovakia, and USSR broke up with the Polish neighbors of Lithuania, Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. And the maritime border with Denmark has always stay the same for all that time.
