I'm on a mission to acquire every pre Wii system and have them in a capacity where I can use original hardware and play every game. Video's like this are great because they get my head working... knowing that the SD2SNES has a better compatibility track record than the Everdrive version is useful... Here I thought I was slick using my Wii for GameCube games so I can play GameCube in Component without having to spend $300 on a Component GameCube /w super rare cable... but now I'm thinking I still need to get that so I can use it for the GameBoy Advance attachment on the GameCube to do that with an Everdrive like solution. I have very limited space, and a BIG ASS CRT... so it's starting to get crowded in the stand with systems and wires.

CAPCOM784 While I appreciate the optimism, the reason the GameCube Component cables are so expensive is that there is a chip in them that can’t (well... hasn’t, it might happen someday) be reverse engineered. That’s why you can’t find any aftermarket versions of the cable. They were also rare even back then (not to mention a pretty expensive cable). Sadly, they aren’t making any more so what’s out there is out there. There are few to be discovered in the wild at this point and I’m sure through time and use, the number is dwindling and they will only rise in value. One thing there defiantly isn’t any shortage of is new enthusiastic retro gamers with big wallets! I wish retro-vision or some genius maker out there cracks the code of that chip and is able to build an acceptable component solution for the GameCube... but until then... $175 is about as inexpensive you will ever find a second hand GameCube Component cable.

PabstOban Yep those cables were only sold through Nintendo direct, was like $35 originally. Not a ton bought them but enough out there that you can find... If ya wanna spend hundreds on a cable. If anyone can do it itd be HDretrovision for sure.

there are a couple hdmi options that are pretty damn good, but for crt maybe not, unless you already have an adapter to use hdmi with your crt.

Nice video and review, sweet game collection you have there. I bought one myself and I'm very happy with it. The only downside is that when I purchased Rad Racer for nes, is that it won't play on my SRT+ and I hope I hope its the only one.

@@rustygriswold9981 No prob. In fact to further the info. my Super Everdrive and MegaDrive work on BOTH the Super retro trio and Super Retro Trio +. the n8 PRO only works on the Regular Super retro Trio.

Yes, it is a hardware emulation machine not running software emulation. This is why it runs EVERDRIVE carts, reproduction carts, and some of the special chip game carts without issue.

This is the only retro machine after Analogue FPGA products that use hardware emulation methods to run games. This is why it plays EVERDRIVE carts and reproduction carts. Very high compatibility. Worth every penny. The only drawback is PAL/NTSC play speed on megadrive games.

When I started to get back into Retro Games I really wanted one of these all in one clones. It's just sad that no one can make a NES clone that plays with the Everdrive N8. I even bought the Classiq 2 HD because some reviews said the N8 did work on it but it didn't. Ended up having to spend a lot of money rebuying a NES, SNES, and Genesis.

georgiaridgerunner 79 I contacted the manufacturer and they confirmed that late 2017 they updated the system with a new sound chip but it broke compatibility with the Everdrive N8. This is a well known issue.

All I want to know is , does the Super Retro Trio or Duo work with the Super Retro Advance (GBA to SNES adaptor)? If so, does it display the game without the use of the Super Retro Advance A/V out?

123hellstorm Yeah not sure. Some have said for me to try using av cables to see as it mite be an issue with the hdmi ... But for some reason i doubt it will work but ill try lol.

Honestly that is why I opted just to hack the Nes and Snes Mini. The clone consoles have color and compatibility issues. Sure there might be some lag issues on a few games on Nes Mini, but the pros makes up for it. Having 100% compatibility and having the color and sound perfect is what I really care for. Imagine paying $130 for the N8 Nes Everdrive and figuring out it won't work on this console after paying $60 for the console. Original Nes systems online costs at least $100. I'd rather pay $60 for Nes Mini

If you want accuracy in video and audio, I highly suggest you to buy ANALOGUE FPGA consoles. They are the best.

Hey MLP whats a good solution for playing as close to true to play as possible for famicom disk? Is there a good rom option or do you need original disks?

Jacob Hoffman For me... Best way is using the ram adapter that came with the FDS. Can find those fairly cheap and then buying a FDSStick to play them through it. Ive only used that method on the AVS though so further testing may be needed on other clone systems.

Madlittlepixel may nof be a bad way to go. For the most part I dont see too many advantages in going FDS but some of the audio makes revisiting some classics an exciting idea. But there are very few titles out there to make it justifiable to spend 300 on to make it happen

I have this system and honestly it gets alot of bad reviews it's not perfect the sound is off and color slightly but otherwise for the price and what it can do its pretty impressive in my opinion every game I've tried multi carts homebrews and carts with special chips all work for all 3 systems

The nes everdrive does work on The Retron 3 hd. I just got my Retron 3 hd and a Super Retro Trio 3plus hd with redesigned controllers. There both good.
