One of the most plausible explanations I have heard, on the parable of the 'Shrewd Steward' as I like to call it. Heard several others that tend to add, omit or rephrase the text, to suit their narrative. Which is definitely not the scriptural thing to do. So thank you and God bless 🙏

This parable isn't talking about being secure in fellowship for eternity with fellow like minded believers - for one, believers aren't the ones who receive you into the Kingdom. Also, it says (in the english _AND_ in the greek) "when YOU fail" ... Not "when IT fails". Smh. This is a skewed and poor explanation of this parable. ...(Pastor John needs to get some of that saliva out of his mouth before he approaches a hot microphone).

There is one other plausible explanation that is not considered here. Just about every interpreter throughout history has begun by saying, "this is a vexing parable." and it is because why would any owner give praise to an employee who has screwed him over? Not very likely... But there is an opinion, although it is a minority one, which makes more sense. It is called, the "ironic" interpretation, and posits that the troubling texts verse 8 and 9 are spoken ironically. The trouble is, the texts have no punctuation (which hadn't been invented yet) and so no one can actually prove the irony. Reading the sentences as interrogatives rather than declarative makes it easy to understand... it seems to make a lot more sense to me... with less theologizing and spiritualizing needed.... The Master = God The Unjust Steward = The Pharisees The Debtors= Sinners The Pharisees are letting sinners off easily by requiring a few rituals, with no conversion of heart. Is God going to praise this action? NO! Is the master going to praise someone that just screwed him? No! The master is NOT praising the actions of the steward; it was a question that everyone knew the answer was "No!". Jesus is NOT recommending the policies of the Pharisees to his followers. He is NOT holding them up as examples to be admired and imitated. He is saying rhetorically, "Is the master going to praise the actions of an unjust steward?", expecting his listeners to say "Of course not!" as God will not.... (Can befriending someone who has unjust mammon (works righteousness) help you get in to eternal habitation? No! ) The Pharisees were offering cheap grace, the bare minimum, forgiveness by works, and it wasn't enough...the very he next chapter after this one, Luke 17: 9 Doth he thank that servant, for doing the things which he commanded him?10 I think not. So you also, when you shall have done all these things that are commanded you, say: We are unprofitable servants; we have done that which we ought to do... @@Joseph_Knight Jesus did not and will not commend dishonesty. All Characters in the parable are bad (sons of this age) The Master, Steward and Debtor. The Steward thought that he will have safety by making friends. So Jesus told the Disciples to do likewise and you will end up in the same place where they are in eternity. But they are all dishonest making Eternal Habitation to be Hell not Heaven as many if not all thought. This parable is a warning for Dishonesty. see video by Mel

@@Joseph_Knight the Greek word for "it fails" is cease or to die, but when they render it in English as "it" people think its the money but actually should be render when you die. The Master commended the Unjust Steward because he got richer by lowering the debt, a unexpected result of the dishonesty of the steward. Because they were able to pay now that it was lowered rather than owing the whole amount.

The parable is a warning to the disciples not to follow the Unjust Steward, He made friends to gain security (homes). So Jesus simply saying do likewise and when you die (it fails) they will welcome you into their eternal abode which is HELL not Heaven as people thought. Very simple and clear explanation. Hell is also eternal isn’t it.

Jesus said give up all of your belongings and follow me. for all of you that just took this man at his word and did not go and read the chapter for yourselves I will do that for you. By the way this whole teaching is a contradiction to when Jesus said it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle then it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. I will add that in verse 17 it says, it is easier for heaven in Earth to disappear than for the Lee stroke of a pen to drop out of the law. That means the biblical laws of the old testament still apply! You do not get to pick and choose which laws you will accept and which ones you will not. I highly doubt any of you ever killed anyone for eating shellfish or for being gay like your Bible commands to do.

Oh, yeah that reminds me of like I was thinking about earlier when someone asked me to move some cryptocurrency miners and I was homeless and I think they were worth about $20-30k and I could have stolen them and mined bitcoins or sold them and bought a house but I totally didn't even think about it and I just drove to the guy's house they were going to be put at and just delivered them. So I just did this for the guy for free. I could have invested in crypto in 2011 when I was talking to people about the silk road before the FBI even heard of it but I just didn't care. If I did I would have like a few million bucks out of $100 now but I don't so whatever. Actually if you're the kind of person as a Christian who is connected with people doing favors and having connections then you can do some deciding about what favors are being done for what kind of people. What kind of favors do you think benefit Christ and are there any kinds of favors that can be done for Him that you can help Him do or have done and with whom? Like laundering money? With the church? I mean that sort of thing doesn't seem wrong.. Pretty sure that it says that's basically fine. It's implied in other places. Actually that's pretty honest. $500 at a time.. What's fair? half of nothing, 20%? Where does a church have to report donations under $500? or assets? Monero? I think there is something about washing and becoming clean that I would expect to see next. Can't a 501.3c make donations? Buy services? What about not breaking with tradition? You know a rabbi can hold money for someone else for later. Tax free.. Everyone is using crypto so how could we be laundering money with the church? I don't see how it's fraud to offer a service as a non-profit under religious freedom which is guaranteed.
