Walking around, smoking and wearing a sweatshirt. Basically tells the court he won't and can't appear. Tells the court he won't check his email for court stuff. Travels for businesses but has no car. Has a business but no checking or savings account. Said he had no money but was able to put up money for bond. Did he hire this attorney temporarily, that cost money? This guy is lying about finances or he is the worse businessman every.

How does the concrete contractor dude average $1,000 a week and have no cash, checking or savings?? That's a gross of $52,000 a year - what does he do with his money and how does he quality for a free attorney? 🤔 People are getting more and more contemptuous over Zoom court - someone needs to start nipping that in the bud! I just couldn't tolerate that for one second as a judge...

They do that because it’s apparently more likely they’ll appear in court, if they’re from the area and have ties to the community, as opposed to someone who has no ties to the community & doesn’t actually live in the county they were arrested in. It would stand to reason, those with roots in the county and ties with the community, they have a support system. It creates the illusion they are less likely to fail to appear and are more likely to get a PR bond. It was probably an indicator back before the era of entitlement!

@TwoBs

Pretty sure when they say that, though, it’s not in reference to anything positive or that they do anything for the community - just confirming to the judge that he is from the area and/or is familiar with it enough (usually has family nearby, isn’t a tourist or someone passing through, etc.) to confirm they can and will remain in the area during everything.
@Matt-lp1xp
@Matt-lp1xp 5 ай бұрын
These hearings are in regards to bond. They are generally not related to the particular case which is also why the defendant should not be offering any input. Usually bond considerations include (with context being the county in question): current housing, family and associations in the community, criminal history, history of failure to appear, job status, seriousness of the offense

In NY, the prosecution needs to prove that it was definitely that dope that the person OD'd on and that there were no preexisting conditions that could be the reason he died. The charges may be increased later, but, for now, there is a limit to what the court can give for bond on each charge.

The people in Manning’s court were given extremely high bonds due to either the crime or their track record. When they are in Manning’s court they are asking for their bond to be lowered. If the prosecution has not yet indicted them, Manning will reduce it. Over the next few months, the longer they wait, the more she will keep reducing it. It’s up to the prosecutor to make indict the case and take it to trial if they don’t want to risk the defendant getting out. The courts were backlogged before C19 but that made things so much worse.

I don't know how defense attorneys do their jobs and sleep at night, knowing they are arguing for the release of their violent clients.
@Kelly-pg1yf
@Kelly-pg1yf Ай бұрын
It’s balance of law. Everyone has the right to have their argument put forward by a licensed lawyer. If the law is applied properly and the police and prosecution do their job the alleged criminal is held accountable for the crime they committed, no more, no less. In the final year of law school in Aus around 2000 we were asked if we could do some volunteer time in Baton Rouge as it was determined that one in three black men incarcerated on death row were likely to be innocent upon review of their case. Can you imagine being incarcerated and killed for a crime you didn’t commit because of the colour of your skin and because you have a criminal history? Probably not but it happens. So as long as everyone does their job properly (police, lawyers and judges) then the law is good and balanced. It gets real murky when we step out of that and money and politics get involved……….dont get me started!!!!

I have to say, after that intro, did not expect the "Are you happy?" lady to actually apologise unprompted. In the sea of completely outrageous contemptuous people appearing on this channel, it's nice to see people who actually demonstrate a modicum of self awareness, so credit to her.

I find it strange the chat window comments focused on the hoodie when there have been other attorney's without suits in Court. Very Strange!

Wow, this judge is ridiculous with her times. I worked at a chicken plant out in the sticks of NC. It took longer to find parking and get in the building than a half hour.

Oh man that Dominique guy at DDC was given HYTA probation at 16th circuit court. They were being generous for his first offense…..but then he caught a new charge while on it. 100% going to prison for a while. Macomb County does not tolerate people messing up HYTA probation. 😮
