I actually thought that this movie was better than Kong Skull Island. Don't get me wrong, Kong Skull Island is a fun movie. But this one was lovely, it was long yes, but I still really adore this take on Skull Island. It feels a lot more realistic than the goliaths in Kong Skull Island, like this is an ecosystem that could exist or did exist at one point. The music too, I loved the music in this movie. Kong Skull Island's felt so generic, especially when compared to the last entry in the MonsterVerse at that time, Godzilla 2014. But the Peter Jackson film had quite a few memorable tracks, be it from Kong's battle with the V-rexes or his fall from the Empire State Building. My favorite track overall has to be the one that plays when Kong and Anne are in Skull Island's mountains looking over the horizon. It's so somber yet so beautiful even.

I remember being the only person in my family who liked this film when we all saw it together. We agreed that all the scenes between Ann and Kong were excellent, abd the long voyage on the boat certainly needed some pruning, but no one else enjoyed the creepy, atmospheric, creature-filled Skull Island scenes as much as I did. Its a film that's gotten more enjoyable for me over time. The dinosaur aesthetic derived from the artwork of Charles R. Knight and Zdenek Burian is beautiful, and I would like to see this aesthetic done properly in a new movie (not in a half-90s half-retro Jurassic World way, and certainly NOT in a 65 way). The World of Kong artbook is a treasure of lost world art design.

A correction on the bug pit scene: there's no evidence supporting the claim that the scene was cut for audiences sake, more-so, that it was cut because it didn't serve any purpose for the film's pacing. Great video!

still can't watch the 3 v. rex vs kong without thinking about the edit someone made with ed edd and eddy sound effects

Kong's battle with the V. rexes was always my favorite part of the movie, and I love how they portrayed his relationship with Ann. I'll admit that while I'm not a fan of the long boat journey, I've gotten used to it over time, though that's probably because of how much I used to watch this film. Also believe it or not, most of the deleted scenes for this movie came from the boat ride, so the crew at least attempted to make the journey not too long.

I watched this film when I was basically a baby when it came out in theaters; 3 year old me remembered pretty much all of the moments on Skull Island and the ending with Kong's final stand but it was only until I got older and I learned about the behind the scenes of everybody making the film that I really started to appreciate everything else. This is easily one of the best remakes of a classic film ever. So much passion and effort was put into making everything feel just right: from the damn near accurate representation of what New York was like during 1930s to the fantastical and terrifying yet believable and breathtaking world of Skull Island itself. Yeah, it's long as all heck but whenever I watch it, I don't really feel the length... I just enjoy the ride like I did back when this movie came out. Also have to give the film credit for introducing me to dinosaurs and giant monsters in general; without this film... I probably wouldn't be as much of a fan of those topics as I am now. I'm surprised young me didn't get traumatized from all the carnage but guess I was a weird kid since I ended up loving it so much. 😆 So yep. Still holds up but then again... that's coming from a long time fan. 😁

I just picked up the 4K this year. "Lost World" is my favorite genre and it's amazing to see it brought to a modern (lol, 20 years old now) film by none other than Peter Jackson. I also really enjoyed the mockumentary in the bonus materials that shows the lore the filmmakers were thinking about as they designed the island and its creatures.

Video idea: what's the biggest nightmare? Skull Island or or isla Sonrna/Nublar (or the other islands)
@TheGhost-rp3ko28 күн бұрын
Imo Skull Island Isla Nublar you can potentially find a place to be safe but on Skull Island there's nowhere you can go to be safe
@majorstroud28 күн бұрын
@TheGhost-rp3ko I agree with Skull Island. However, I don't know that much about the island. I've seen Jeff Bridges, Jack Black, and the newer series with Godzilla. Those islands seem scarier because of those slug things and like that stick spider thing (from the godzilla Kong island) I don't think JP Islands had stuff like that. However, camouflaging theropods are scary, too. 2 more things to note is 1, from what I could gather, Skull Island seems 100% natural and lost to time, whereas JP Islands are man made (in terms of fawna and a portion if not all flora) And 2 I don't know direct size/strength comparisons to each Islands inhabitants. Regardless, it's a lose-lose for humans.

Not sure I'd say this depiction of Kong is "conservative" in terms of size; he can't really get much bigger than that if he's supposed to be climbing buildings. Rather, then newest one just has to be scaled up like crazy to match Godzilla.
@prehistoricchannel12828 күн бұрын
As I said. It’s not a slight on either portrayal. Simply just an observation. And there has been larger depictions of Kong that climb skyscrapers. This guy is still relatively small.

When the monsterverse kong was first introduced, I thought it was a sequel to the Peter Jackson film and was confused as to why this Kong was so massive. Part of the reason I thought that mighta been the triceratops skull on that island, cause i remember one in the PJ film for a few seconds, so I thought it was a sequel with the skullcrawlers coming outa the earth and ate everyone, and a second kong grew massive to fight em or some shiz...

@chadartist.992528 күн бұрын
I use to have the kick ass game as a kid based off that film, But the story was a lot different compare to the movie, Cause of having scenes like where Mr Hayes dies by getting stomped by a V-Rex besides being thrown to a wall by Kong during the bridge scene, It's cool that Jack Black and other actors from the remake did their roles in the game Creatures from the game and movie where sounded different, I prefer the PS2 version besides the 360 one because the graphics on characters like Kong and the V-Rexes in the 360 version look like shit, Some might end up saying like " Well it's my opinion"
