With the exception of Tim Burton's Apes movie I find it interesting how this franchise keeps surprising everybody with its quality. When the first Planet of the Apes movie was pitched, nobody took the idea seriously and it took a lot of convincing to have it made. Then it was released and it became a franchise juggernaut. Then came Rise of the Planet of the Apes and everybody thought it'd be dead on arrival, and we ended up with not one, but three excellent movies n a rare instance of a perfect movie trilogy And now Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and the same story again. Everybody expected it to fail as a sequel and under Disney's new ownership, and it was a massive hit yet again surprising everyone with its storytelling and characters. Planet of the Apes is no joke.

it's a great way to handle a sequel/soft reboot. caesar still hangs over the series, but his words have been interpreted in different ways after centuries of ape civilization. some, like the order of caesar, hold to the truth of his words (and now Noa lives by said words) while Proximus twisted his wisdom into the words of conquest and oppression. caesar had taken on the mythical status of the lawgiver from the original saga.

@@Kyoryu_Unshaken It has potential and I know it does cause another story I read did it well. Primitive War is a novel about dinosaurs coming back amidst the cold war and a similar plot of "taking over the earth" happens much more reasonably as Utahraptors bring back diseases that modern avians were never adapted to, and one strain of this disease mutates and is able to infect humans with grisly results. The reason as to why Dominion is so poor in this regard is that it just never develops anywhere, we're told "Dinosaurs are taking over!" but we are not really shown how or why or anything in the plot is built off of that. You can remove every dinosaur in Dominion except -the Quetzalcoatlus -the baby raptor and the main plot does not change at all.

Great video man. Also, when I rewatched the Planet Of The Apes Trilogy and also watched the recent Kingdom Planet Of The Apes, these movies is what Jurassic World movies should've been especially Dominion. Cause in Dominion, the movie doesn't feel like the people are afraid and terrified when dinosaurs roamed around the world. They're just chilling with the Dinosaurs. But however in this movie, the humans are terrified and afraid that the apes become smarter and the dominant species on the planet. To the point, the humans went into hiding and to avoid being hunted and captured by the apes. That is really cool and I wished the Jurassic Movies can be like this. Jurassic World and Universal, take notes please from this movie.

Kingdom is my favorite in the franchise. I love the world and the different tribes and I found Noa to be a very refreshing protagonist, even if he fits to a more classic archetype. I also love Mae. She is honestly more of an antagonist and I love their debate at the end. Also I completely agree with how modern movies are so full of comedy and I'm sick of it. Its also why I really liked Furiosa.

I think it's fine if this movie is really good but not as great as the last two films. Better to save their best for the sequels. The story has been set up, now we get to settle in and enjoy the ride. 😁 Overall, loved the movie. The reboot trilogy is probably my favorite of all time when it comes to remakes/reboots. It makes me wish that the people who were involved with those films would team up to do a trilogy of films for the Jurassic or MonsterVerse franchises 😔

I can’t agree enough. Just left the theater. SO fantastic. Each scene was meaningful, as well as the characters. I LOVED the economy of words spoken by the apes. Abbreviated sentences, but impactful as words can be.

I want to say this. War of the planet of the apes was honestly underwhelming. Great movie but I was hoping for something for grand and more clear on the future of the apes and humans. Still a 9/10. But Dawn will always be my favorite of the trilogy and of any planet of the ape movie.

Im still confused as to how this movie is getting hate. I understand some of the criticisms, which mainly amount to the fact that this is the first film to a new trilogy in a whole new world with entirely new characters. This movie not only looks amazing, but the fact that it’s more character driven makes the said characters stand out in a good way. The fact that Raka and Proximus only get about 20 mins on screen yet their presence is there and it leaves you wanting more. I also like that the scale is a lot larger, since the whole world is pretty much abandoned, the side adventure with Noa gives you a feeling that something, anything, can come out. 8.5/10, very interested as to what the next film(s) will bring.

And on the budget: does having motion capture lower costs as it’s mostly animated already and they just have to drape models over the motion?

I hate to break it to you but all the "bad" decisions would have also been Bob Iger also....I know "special" people love to cry constantly about Bob Chapek, however plans get put into motion YEARS in advance and Iger was around for a good chunk of Chapek. Bob Chapek never actually got a chance to run anything or actually make any plans

Saw this movie this pass weekend and could not agree more with everything you said. One of the best movie I've seen this year, alongside Dune Part 2 and Godzilla Minus One. 90% of movies in theaters may be hot garbage, but we've gotten some great treats this year as well, like the aforementioned films.

I felt the same way when the movie ended, I was just happy, a movie was actually good and I look forward to seeing what comes next, starting in reverse like this they could milk the franchise until the end of time without remaking the original. The director is a relative nobody, he directed the Maze Runner movies, so I didn't have high hopes, but when his name came up in the credits I had to say "good job." A movie like Dawn but with dinosaurs would be amazing. Something like a Dino Crisis movie. Kingdom with dinosaurs was kind of what 64 was going for. It was the one chance to show a good dinosaur movie didn't have to be tied to Jurassic Park and failed.
