With the exception of Tim Burton's Apes movie I find it interesting how this franchise keeps surprising everybody with its quality. When the first Planet of the Apes movie was pitched, nobody took the idea seriously and it took a lot of convincing to have it made. Then it was released and it became a franchise juggernaut. Then came Rise of the Planet of the Apes and everybody thought it'd be dead on arrival, and we ended up with not one, but three excellent movies n a rare instance of a perfect movie trilogy And now Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and the same story again. Everybody expected it to fail as a sequel and under Disney's new ownership, and it was a massive hit yet again surprising everyone with its storytelling and characters. Planet of the Apes is no joke.

The reason as to why Dominion is so poor in this regard is that it just never develops anywhere, we're told "Dinosaurs are taking over!" but we are not really shown how or why or anything in the plot is built off of that. Cause in Dominion, the movie doesn't feel like the people are afraid and terrified when dinosaurs roamed around the world. They're just chilling with the Dinosaurs. But however in this movie, the humans are terrified and afraid that the apes become smarter and the dominant species on the planet. To the point, the humans went into hiding and to avoid being hunted and captured by the apes. That is really cool and I wished the Jurassic Movies can be like this. I understand some of the criticisms, which mainly amount to the fact that this is the first film to a new trilogy in a whole new world with entirely new characters. This movie not only looks amazing, but the fact that it’s more character driven makes the said characters stand out in a good way. The fact that Raka and Proximus only get about 20 mins on screen yet their presence is there and it leaves you wanting more. I also like that the scale is a lot larger, since the whole world is pretty much abandoned, the side adventure with Noa gives you a feeling that something, anything, can come out. 8.5/10, very interested as to what the next film(s) will bring.

Saw this movie this pass weekend and could not agree more with everything you said. One of the best movie I've seen this year, alongside Dune Part 2 and Godzilla Minus One. 90% of movies in theaters may be hot garbage, but we've gotten some great treats this year as well, like the aforementioned films.

The director said in interviews that he was trying to connect these 4 movies to the original 68 movie because there is zero reason why they can't tell stories that lead into the 68 film

Looking forward to it! Was impressed with the last two Apes films. They seem to be smart and exciting. I hope people respond to the quality.

Will we find out that noa distant direct descendants from Cornelius in future sequels because he lookalike Caesar and they both have same eyes and birthmark ?and sunna might be blue eyes lake descendants because she resembles lake ?

I felt the same way when the movie ended, I was just happy, a movie was actually good and I look forward to seeing what comes next, starting in reverse like this they could milk the franchise until the end of time without remaking the original. The director is a relative nobody, he directed the Maze Runner movies, so I didn't have high hopes, but when his name came up in the credits I had to say "good job." A movie like Dawn but with dinosaurs would be amazing. Something like a Dino Crisis movie. Kingdom with dinosaurs was kind of what 64 was going for. It was the one chance to show a good dinosaur movie didn't have to be tied to Jurassic Park and failed.
