It would totally make sense for the real robots of the future in Wall-e to have a resemblance to the fictional robots found in movies within the Pixar Universe. That exact thing happens in our world today. People who make real robots find inspiration from the robots or droids that existed in the movies they watched growing up.

I like the idea though because of the implications. Like how Riley being in Finding Dory seems to imply it is "real". If you follow the in-universe Easter Eggs, it starts becoming more of a possibility that she was just simply an "extra" in the movie. Edit: which then leads into the possibility that Riley is actually an actress and Inside Out is an in-universe movie.

There's one correction we have to make: Lightyear, as you stated, is not (in universe) an animated movie. It's live action. The render style is the same as real people in the pixar world. Meaning these are actors, not animations or CG models. So if pixar IS the ones making this sudo-movie, then they are a film studio, not an animation studio. Which draws ALOT of your prior points of reference into question. Also, the statue in the office of the alien. . . it literally says "pixar" on it. Speaking of that shelf, the burn-e thing. . . you could have it backwards. BNL could be the Boston Dynamics/Amazon of that world. Burn-e could be one of their earliest models and the movie could have used BNL's/Amazon's robot as inspiration for their movie. . . the same way we see Spot the Robot Dog in alot of real films or in things like Black Mirror.

I'm glad for the recent Pixar videos. I think because Buy n Large is a villain in Wall-E, Wall-E isn't a in-universe movie. Also, this is the first one to announce its as a movie, so I think Lightyear is the only one so far and all the others from Good Dinosaur to Brave, to Monsters Inc are "real" in the Pixar universe.
@sethcushman5454
@sethcushman5454 2 жыл бұрын
I feel like WALL•E can't be in universe, just because I can't see a movie company risking being sued by buy-n-large just to use a recognizable brand as a demonstration of their message. I also was thinking about the evidence that Raven Mountain from Onward is likely an Axiom ship, but then I realized the problem with that is that there is also a theory that Onward is Andy's imagination, and it seems totally possible that he could have also watched WALL•E and used the axiom as inspiration for raven mountain somehow. Overall though, if Buy-n-Large existed in the 'real' Pixar universe than I can't imagine a movie company creating a movie with them as the villain. And if the movie existed, I can't imagine a company naming themselves after a villainous corporation. So I don't think that WALL•E was an in-universe movie. Plus it wouldn't make as much sense to clarify that Lightyear is an in-universe movie if they didn't clarify it for WALL•E.

Honestly, I think Buzz's batteries confirm that BnL (and thus the events of Wall-E) _are_ something that's canon to the main timeline, the Burn-E statue was "just a coincidence" that a future robot looked like it (and/or BnL just taking serious inspiration from the robots in Lightyear, like you said), and... _the Cars series_ is "movies within the Pixarverse" and didn't actually happen. It's just too _out of place_ compared to everything else (both Pixar Theory standards and the other movies in general), plus it'd be trivial to explain them as the Pixarverse equivalent of the Chevron Cars toys... because _well duh._
@darrenmacqueen9884

Wall-E is too crucial to the Pixar Theory to be made into a movie within it. I would love Cars to be a movie series, but I don't like something being dismissed as just a movie within the universe unless it connects to something within it. The theory I read of Onward being a movie written by an adult Andy based on how he lost his father was really cool. I modified the theory a bit to make it co-written by Andy and Molly, with Andy being the inspiration for Barley and Molly being Ian. I can definitely see Andy being the fun loving, nerdy, surrogate older brother/ father figure to Molly that could inspire this movie. And Andy has such an incredible imagination that him growing up to be a film maker just makes sense. For Cars to be a film as well, I think we still need some connection to something. It needs to either be a result of something that we saw in one of the other movies, Like Onward, or it needs to lead to something we see in another movie, like Lightyear. Otherwise, it's just not an interesting theory.

Has no one noticed yet that the Hello Dolly tape in WALL-E is our definition of live-action, not Pixar’s universe’s definition of live action, or is there some crazy explanation for it I haven’t noticed? The only one I can think of is that WALL-E actually came second in the timeline, after The Good Dinosaur, and then also our reality timeline. Once WALL-E ended, the new normal for how humans looked led to every other Pixar movie after being live-action in-universe.

For the product placement of Pizza Planet in Lightyear, I thought that was clever but I actually noticed another set of product placement in the movie. In the vending machine with the inverted sandwiches, you can see an item that says “Poultry Palace” on it, which is the fast food restaurant that Bonnie and her mom visit during the short “Small Fry”. I haven’t noticed anything else with this restaurant, but I thought it was a clever nod. You can see it for a split second in the clip used at 12:27 next to the sandwich

Theory: Every Pixar movie exists both in the Pixar universe both as an in-universe movie AND as true events that really happened in the Pixar universe. Hear me out. The direct-to-video Buzz Lightyear of Star Command movie starts with the Toys from Toy Story opening the box for the movie and putting it into a VHS player. On that box, there is a small graphic in the bottom left corner that says "Featuring the Star of Toy Story", and that graphic is still visible on the box IN THE MOVIE, which means that the Toy Story movies exist WITHIN the Toy Story universe as movies that you can watch! That means that Toy Story characters are canonically able to watch the Toy Story movies, so I think it's safe to assume that this logic can apply to other movies in the Pixar universe.

I wonder if we can actually go through the old Pixar movies and look for Easter Eggs to older movies that could be the next in universe movie. For example, maybe the Mikey Keychain in Wall-e means that the next in universe movie to come out after was Monsters Inc. It could also be Finding Nemo but then you'd have to explain Riley in Finding Dory. Although, that could be as simple as her being an extra in the movie.

07:16, 09:01 - If the Pizza Planet refference in Lightyear is an in-universe product placement deal, then it is an extremely badly executed product placement. A product placement needs to have the product prominently featured or at least clearly visible. The Pizza Planet truck in Lightyear is impossible to notice.

My thoughts: WALL-E happened (for the Pixar theory), but Pixar (in universe) is a visual effects company who wanted to make their own shows/movies, so after making some other projects, they felt confident enough to make a full-length feature -- Lightyear. This is not unlike Walt Disney and his animators working on a few shorts, before getting started on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Maybe the in universe version of Pixar had their own version of Lassetter, and Docter, and Ranft, and they got together and went "Okay... so what do we make next?"

The Buzz Star Commamd Spinoff is thus like Sonic SatAM or so, being canon to itself, but like Lightyear, not being canon to mainline Buzz. BnL in Andy’s time would still be a small tech company. One that sells batteries and may be getting into robotics. Think about what Burn-E does, it is a welding robot. That would be a great place for a tech company that is looking to enter the market to start. Welding is a very expensive process that would benefit greatly from automation. This is why I believe that the placement of Burn-E in Lightyear is actually the sponsorship from BnL. It wants to show off its new product but might not have the money yet to make it a big part of the film. And, over time, BnL grows into the giant corporation that destroys the planet in Wall-E

The way I see it, Lightyear isn’t the movie Andy watches, because Zurg isn’t Buzz’s father. Instead, Lightyear takes place during/After WallE. When B&L say earth is uninhabitable, they create the space rangers to go and find a new planet home. Buzz, as a teenager, helped lay the foundations for some weapons and vehicle blueprints while training as one of the 1st generation cadets. Also, buzz’s dad would be a kid on earth, and name his son after his favorite childhood movie. Buzz himself would be born on the axiom, and thus not have seen the movie that gave him his name. After some time on the planet, a message from the axiom arrives saying that they returned to earth, the mission is a bust. That’s why they shut down the mission, because the mission was to find humans a new home, but it’s no longer nessasary after wallE.

Except Zurg isn't Buzz's father in any version. In Toy Story, they're toys. In BLoSC, it's revealed to be a "made you look" trick Zurg uses to confuse Buzz. The utility belt Buzz toy is naturally driven to play along, so it does. And that's the thing about toys in Toy Story. When you don't know you're a toy yet, you act like one involuntarily.

It could also be that BnL were behind the creation of the light year movie in order to drum up enthusiasm for their upcoming space ventures. Consider the fact that there is tons of references in toy story to space even beyond buzz, to the point that a major plot point is that the main character has become obsessed with space travel. In fact, there are tons of references between BnL and the lightyear movie. The fact that all buzz light year toys are made from BnL, the video games about lightyear show BnL batteries as the power source for Zurgs ship, and even the letters BnL when you remove the and are just BL, the same initials as Buzz Lightyear. I don’t think saying that BnL created the movie, this why their robots look similar is too much of a stretch
@beastwriter3915
@beastwriter3915 2 жыл бұрын
Maybe BnL also has product placement in Lightyear, and that's why the robots in the movie and a figurine look like BnL robots. Maybe the "nod to the next movie" Easter egg is the 3-eyed alien, a nod to the sequel for Lightyear. Wall-E is too crucial to the Pixar theory as whole, so it can't be a movie in the Pixar universe. If any other movie would be an in-universe movie, then my candidates are Cars and The Incredibles. Cars simply because they're the hardest to fit anyway, but the car alarm that Wall-E sets off kinda proves its place in the timeline. I suspect Incredibles because we don't see supers anywhere else in the Pixar universe. How can something as big as superpowers be hidden in the background? Of course it's possible that they are such a normal part of life in the Pixar universe that other people in the other movies just don't acknowledge it, but if they are a normal part of life, why are they not acknowledged in their movies? A character in the Lightyear movie has superpowers, and everyone thinks it's normal, because it's normal even for the audience? Unfortunately, or fortunately if like me you want the Incredibles to keep its place in the timeline, the Incredibles is also crucial to the theory. They explain the origins of AI that will grow in BnL, and they explain why the strongest emotion switched from fear to joy in Monsters Inc.

I like the Pixar theory, to a point. But I think the idea of films existing within a film opens up a world of storytelling possibilities, without the need for a shoe horn. In retrospect, also a way to reflect the notion of modern fandom culture. As you know, we have space films (Star Wars), Wizard films (Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings) films featuring creatures (Fantastic Beasts, Percy Jackson) dinosaur films (Jurassic Park), Superhero movies (Marvel) and movies about vehicles (Fast & Furious) So, why can’t they have Lightyear, Wall-E, Onward, Luca, The Good Dinosaur, Cars and the Incredibles and Cars? For what it’s worth, I think the following are true in the Pixar universe: Everyone comes from the Great Before and goes to the Great Beyond (Soul) or some other culturally-specific afterlife (Coco) Everyone experiences has Emotions ; joy, sadness, fear, anger, disgust (Inside Out) Every child has a Monster who comes through a door from another dimension to scare them (Monsters Inc) Pockets of magic exist across the eras (Brave, Turning Red) which are linked to destiny and family Toys and animals poses certain human characteristics (Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, Finding Nemo, Ratatouille)

Let’s make a timeline this shall we? -Brave(10th century) -Monsters University(1989) -Toy Story 1(1995) -Finding Nemo(1998) -Toy Story 2 and Monsters Inc(1999) -Finding Dory and Inside out(2000) -Turning Red(2001) -Ratatouille(2007) -Toy Story 3(2010) -Toy Story 4(2011) -Coco(2017) -Soul(2019) Why I put Finding Nemo in 1998? Simple because in monsters Inc, one of the files about a child says the monster will be scaring and 1999 and Boo’s drawing seen in her room can be spotted in the dentists office in finding Nemo. Ok and also, there is a Nemo toy in monsters Inc.

Toy Buzz freezing around humans in the mainline Toy Story films doesn't even need an explanation in a Lightyear sequel; Toy Buzz *thinks* he's a Space Ranger, but he still *is* actually a toy, and as such he has the toy instinct to freeze around humans.

I thought you guys already knew this. Yes there’s a pretty good theory of a universe within the Pixar universe, two types of Pixar movies. Universe A, what is “real”, and universe B what is created within universe A the same way pixar makes it for us as spectators.

At the beginning of Lightyear, you get a 15 seconds screen telling you in plain words that it's a movie that Andy saw when he was a kid. The fact this is the only pixar movie to notify that to the viewers leads me to believe it's the only one, so far, that is a in Pixar Universe movie.

Or, hear me out, the BURN-E reference isn't referencing WALL-E as alternate-universe-Pixar's next film, but referencing the our-universe Pixar short BURN-E as their next film! Maybe, in alternate-universe Pixar's world, BURN-E was a feature length film rather than a short, and BURN-E became the main character. Seeing as the our-universe next film reference is Wade, the main character (or one of them) of Elemental, it makes sense that the in-universe next film reference would also be referencing the main character of their next movie - BURN-E! Also, I feel like there's something to be said that WALL-E is so far, the only Pixar film with live-action actors and segments, and in-universe, Lightyear is a live-action movie! Lots to think about...

Disney didn't have to confirm anything there. That's literally what the words at the start of the movie say. This comment is like saying Disney confirmed that Mr. Incredible used to wear a blue suit before his red one. That information is straight from the movie.

I feel like BML made a short for this movie and that was like an Easter egg for that. BUT I also think that people loved it so much that they started making robots for every day purpose, not only that, they wanted to make buzz as real as possible, including making a space ship that will go into space, which kick started the events in wall-e

I think that the incredibles could be a movie. It would explain why the pizza planet truck doesn't show up in that movie. It's because pizza planet didn't pay for the product placement. It also explains the comic book in finding Nemo and why no one seems to care about the fact that superhero's are real

Would Wall-E being an in-universe movie also mean Onward is an in-universe movie? My rationale is that you see the axium from Wall-E as one of the mountains in onward-( from what I remember from how you explained how Onward fit into the Pixar theory). I love this content so many fun questions to explore and opportunities to rethink what we knew about the Pixar Theory.

So the whole missing A113, is not missing. In said scene you see A114 and A115, across the window. But if you think about it room numbers alternate going down a hall. So either A113 is on the other side, unablt to be seen or Buzz is in the room A113.

Hey SuperCarlinBrothers just like to point out that Toy Story 4 i think destroyed the Pixar Theory. Because I was on Disney Plus and watched and listened to the Commentary on Toy Story 4 with Director: Josh Cooley and Producer: Mark Nielsen and Director: Josh Cooley say something at around about 31-33 minutes into the film that “This is just the goal to destroy The Pixar Theory.” So in my mind at least that is clear confirmation that The Pixar Theory isn’t true and cannon in the eyes of Pixar Animation Studios.

The movie bolt, about an in universe movie, specifically calls out finding Nemo as also being an in universe movie. My memory on it is a little hazy, but when the birds are pitching a movie idea to bolt, they bring up how they scared away Nemo by pitching him a movie as well, meaning that Nemo was also an animal actor in an in universe movie.
