You could tell he was just hunting for an ejection and was all in his feelings from the start. Like really your gonna tell Boone after the first time he says something not to say another thing the entire game. Have a feeling the Ump knew he was gonna be shit all game and didn't want to hear anything about it as he was calling strikes that were like a foot off of the plate all game.

Can we just give Gallaraga the perfect game in our record book now?
@blahblahblah6

...or at least an asterisk. The ump admitted his mistake and apologized. So, even he wouldn't dispute it. In reality, Gallaraga threw a 28 out perfect game. He deserves some kind of recognition.

I think it's kinda cool that he doesn't have it. For the rest of time when people say "there's this many perfect games" someone will always mention Gallaraga so his name will live on longer.

It's the lack of accountability that irks me. We saw you screwed up, he must have seen that he screwed up so just say "Yeah I saw the footage and I screwed up and got that wrong. I thought it came from the Dugout in the moment, that's why Boone got tossed but having seen the footage, it was the wrong call." that's all you have to say. Not any of this "That's the story Boone is telling." crap, cos we all know it's not a story. It's fact, cos we all saw it.
@blahblahblah6
@blahblahblah6 Ай бұрын
Yeah. Just admit your mistake, apologize, shake hands, and it's over. We all make mistakes. Double down, and your integrity is in question.
@Kinvarus1
@Kinvarus1 Ай бұрын
@@blahblahblah6 Exactly. In the moment shit happens, maybe it did sound like it came from the dugout, hence the ejection. Wasn't correct but it is what it is, but when there's proof that it wasn't, like in this case and you have to know he's seen it, then don't double down and say it wasn't a screwup when it clearly was. That makes you look bad as an official.
@chadwhitfield6946
@chadwhitfield6946 Ай бұрын
Worse than that. He admits from the start that Boone didn't say anything. He thinks it came from the other end of the dugout. He said Boone was responsible for anything any player says and that's why he tossed him.

As a White Sox fan it’s hard to imagine this current team even sniffing 50 wins, which is what As got to last year. Players can’t control the roster, but they can control their effort level which seems to be nonexistent. I watch every game every season, and still will, but it’s getting extremely hard to watch.

Braves, Royals and Guardians are the teams they beat. In order: they beat the Braves because of the fluke clutch hitting in the seventh and eighth Royals because they also suck ass and are deep in the tank Guardians thanks to clutch hitting late in the game and a respectable bullpen performance. So yeah a whole lot of fluke luck and beating bad teams.

@@michaelbaucom4019 Oh yeah, totally not surprising. I’ve watched baseball for decades, and he’s always been one of the worst plate umpires. With the exception of Alan Porter, crew chiefs are pretty much terrible when it comes to balls and strikes. So part of it seems to be an age thing.
@wisewolftony
@wisewolftony Ай бұрын
@@gentlemanjake8005 Had no idea who he was and have been watching for ages since like 1995. But after watching that game have a feeling that he was just hunting for that ejection and knew he was gone be god awful calling pitching all games and knew Boone was gonna be saying shit all game so decided on the first time he said anything to tell him not to say another word. As my god he was calling strikes that were like a foot off of the plate then shit that was way low only to follow that up by missing shit in the zone. I mean not blaming him for the loss or anything as offense has been ass and made JP Sears look like Maddox. But hey maybe if Boone is in the game he doesn't turn to Victor on back to back games after he just threw 20+ pitches and instead goes with a rested Ferguson or Holmes.

As a lifelong White Sox fan, this team has almost always been bad, with only a few magical exceptions. Last year we had a guy, Berto on the West Side, call into a local radio program and give a fantastic rant about how bad the team was then. It has only gotten worse. This might be the worst team ever, and I’m including the 1800s Cleveland Spiders.

I am down with some accountability, some dismissals and demotions in the ump game. They shouldn't have to take all the guff from coaches and players, but they can never, ever, ever, ever let it be personal or make the moment about their feelings. Period. I do like what someone said the other day...we should be able to watch an umpire and coach go hat bill to hat bill and the coach doesn't get tossed if they don't cross specific lines. That ladies and gents is entertaining. It all comes down to ego. It rears its head time after time....I swear Cartman became a cop, but he may have become a ref/ump in pro-sports because all the tumult has 'respect my authoratahh' vibes all over them in every instance.

It’s such a bizarre move to eject someone without even having eyes on the person doing the complaining. The main reason umpires look into the dugout when they hear someone barking is because they want to eject the right person. Wendelstedt basically just doesn’t care whether he gets the right person, it seems.

The only problem with the fire spitting is the way that happens is the performer has a mouthful of some kind of alcohol that they then spit into the torch. I dunno how that'll go down with MLB style post game drug testing if they've got alcohol in the mouth, but it's a fun idea

I don’t ever watch the podcast, I do listen every day, but I had to come on to comment after what was said about the Boone incident… this is just another example of what is wrong with Umpires in mlb. It’s embarrassing, it does not need to be in the game Trevor…. the reason why its “entertainment” is because the umpires are inept and the incompetence and lack of accountability makes it a joke. This kind of stuff is not going to bring in new fans, it’s going to make them find another sport and baseball has a hard enough time gaining fans let alone keeping them. I am so sick of this bullshit with the umpires that the only punishment is not working the postseason
