American Chinese food was created by Cantonese people and cooking style. Mike and his family aren't Cantonese, and the Chinese food they eat is very different. For example, when Mike's dad said Chinese food doesnt have fruit in it, Cantonese people will definitely disagree. I tried Panda's fried rice, it's not that bad that you have to make faces. Lot of Chinese People are overreacting to Panda, because they have ego issues admitting Panda is not bad. I grew up in China and I think Panda has some dishes done right.

Broccoli beef is specifically a American Chinese dish... actually most of the dishes are. Kinda like the fortune cookie. Authentically American Chinese. Chinese food varies quite a bit regionally within China and globally has adapted where Chinese have immigrated to using local ingredients, i.e India, Korea, Japan (ramen's origin is a Chinese noodle dish- Japanese Chinese cuisine), Malaysia, Cuba, America, etc.

As a Chinese American who grew up eating Chinese food I actually like Panda Express ! It’s not too bad! I love their honey walnut shrimp and new Chili Shrimp ! Also black pepper chicken and Kung pao Chicken its not that bad ! Has a peppery flavor ,and salty ! Pretty close to the Chinese taste buds !! They actually doesn’t do that bad of a job tbh not as bad as some people who trynna be edgy like “ I only eat real Chinese food etc” Wouldn’t get their fried rice or Orange Chicken or Beijing beef or sweet and sour chicken though Wayy too sweet or blend . Americans likes them because they are sweet or fried . But actually the Chinese taste doesn’t like things that are sweet Our compliments towards desserts are “ this is not too sweet
@LibeliumDragonfly10 ай бұрын
It's not that Chinese doesn't like things that are sweet, it's just that we don't like meat dish that's literally just sweet and nothing else. Sweet and sour is a popular flavour in many regions, but when Americans does it, they go wayyyyy to light on the sour part, so you only taste the sweet.
@chaoxyz81832 ай бұрын
The black pepper chicken is very good, and it's the main thing I get whenever I do go to Panda Express. The fried rice and chow mein are pretty ass, tho. I always get the white rice.

I find it really weird that Americans feel the need to label "fake" and real Chinese food. Chinese people are migrated all over the world, and have come up with their own versions of what they had from their hometown. Chinese food can be found in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Australia Japan and many other places, each with their own unique twists. I love Chinese food for all over the world, and I feel that calling them "fake" or not real, is a real disservice and an insult to those who work hard sweating behind the woks and burning themselves for our palate.
@raincloud104010 ай бұрын
Thank you for saying this. As a Chinese man, I say who cares! "Authenticity" is overrated. There's always going to be differences due to ingredients because of what is available. Some foods just aren't available/hard to obtain in some areas. The history of the "fake" Chinese food those types of people diss reflects this. American Chinese food came from immigrants who used whatever they had to create something to eat; the intention wasn't to make "authentic Chinese food." It's so irritating when I see people get on their high-horses and start dissing foods simply because they didn't originate from China so they're not "real." And it's not even just Americans unfortunately.
@seventh-hydra4 ай бұрын
@@raincloud1040 The reason is because Western palates like the food more bland and more sweetened. So for someone who wants the full flavor, they will distinguish between authentic and inauthentic.

You guys should really go to China for a feel for the food. It will really blow your mind on their number of varieties China offers. It doesn't have to be the so-called traditional, some of them are new and contemporary, some have different variations of a certain dishes and of course, some are local specialties. A good starting channel I recommend on KZbin to get you a bit more closer to the locals is 「吃货请闭眼 Just Eat it」. Get a general feel for it. For example if you go to Beijing, what are their 4 well known Peking Duck Restaurants for the local. What seafood buffet do they offer, What is their most budgeted food you could get in the city. What is Manchurian/Han full banquet like(I personally have no darn clue myself). What is 卤煮, I personally find that quite disgusting. What is a famous food street called in the city e.g. 簋街. Why is one of Beijing's local breakfasts so disgusting and is an acquired taste for other people and a lot people from across China are very curious to try it. What are some of the 老字号 (traditional names) for the Restaurants in the city (beware some can be a bit pricey). They do have food from other regions, but are not as savvy compared to food introductions in Beijing, some of them are just more of a novelty for them in my opinion.
