Thing's happen as machine's, vehicle's, engines age, don't they... whether theyve been wrenched on before or not... you'll get it running good.. have a good week 👍👍👊

I let them idle for a good 10 minutes after working them before shutting down. My 450 makes the exhaust stack glow with a 4" flame out the top. You only see it in the dark when working it hard. If you hear a tic as it cools that noise are cracks forming as the iron contracts faster in some areas then others.

My 806 diesel will blow a flame when working it too. You wanna really hear heat creaking, drive a harley and shut it down 😆

Good day Don. I think those old ih diesel were pretty known for cracking heads. This tractor maybe getting an engine swap but I also would like to save the engine since its loose 👍

I think letter series Farmalls only had head studs torqued to something like 80 ft-lbs. That being said, a cordless impact being able to remove them easily sounds sus.

From what I can find m-450 is about 110ft/lbs. I started with the breaker bar but it seemed easy so I tried the little dewalt impact driver and it took them off. I think that thing is 1/4? Has the changeable bits.

Hopefully it’s just a head gasket. My SMTA had 4 massive cracks in #3 cylinder.

That sucks! I think I'm going to have a shop check it. If it's bad, I have a few more 🤞

@@AndyFromm I’ll hope that it’s not. I don’t have any spares laying around and people are very proud of the parts they have. Finally got what I think is a decent deal from JP tractor in Missouri. He sends all his to a machine shop to get them checked out and completely gone through so you just have to put it on the block for $900 shipped…..

@@AndyFromm its too much for me too, but it’s the cheapest I could find. Other places were almost that much as pulled no work and no guarantee.

@@deercreekmechanical thats nuts. I have 3 400 and 2 M engines, I hope I can make a couple runners out of them. Would be nice to have a couple that are stockish 😄
