One nation one election is not applicable to the largest democracy like India . It is very difficult to operate as huge machinery of men and machine , police personnel and due to other general problems . It is good to be a slogan but not to implement .JPs analysis is brilliant .

Instead of having an election that would have it's term till the end of parliament tenure, Having US model would solve the problems we have. Fixed Elections season every two years or 2.5 years. One main general election and one mid term election. There should be some formulations to address situations where governments dissolve in-between these two cycles.

India’s central government is not a federal one like USA. One Nation one election doesn’t require Constitutional amendment.Simple Majority is sufficient to introduce a bill. In one way I agree with you about majority of the people voting do not know why they are voting. It’s only money for them.

It would be rather difficult in a capitalist system. Cyclicality right, asset prices can go up and down, hence tax receipts would also be so? It would also have perverse outcomes since you might have fixed assets that on paper might look sizeable but do not generate the necessary income. You could have an inheritance tax however. Thats the way the Brits did it after the war. Though it effectively crippled the aristocracy afterward. Or you could tax once assets are realized (sold) in which case, people would chose not sell (as happens now with capital gains). Take for example Tesla and Elon, he hardly pays anything but tax him based on Teslas market cap and you would cripple him overnight

If they are so keen on conducting the elections for the state and the centre together in each state, rather than moving all the state elections to the time of the National election, they should conduct the national elections for different seats at different times together with their respective state elections. Advantages: - This won't cutail the rights of the elected state goverments. - This should offer the same saving as one nation, one poll. - you don't have to worry about syncing the elections each time some state goes out of sync.
