You do have to lighten your hair or parts of it. I'm Black and have jet black hair but I rock a blond streak for fun. I used this stuff (sample size bc a little goes a long way) when I want to get funky with color with no commitment. I put it all over but it will only color the blond part. (Plus lasts forever since we don't have to wash our hair every day )

it's just hair dye pigment mixed with conditioner. i don't know why everyone freaks out about this stuff. it would probably be cheaper to buy whatever dye you use and your conditioner and just add it yourself...which has been a trick for years

Yeah I've done that before. The only problem is if I want to do a pastel color using just conditioner and dye I can't figure out the right proportions so I'm probably gonna try their conditioners for a pastel pink

Stephanie Satterfield no necessarily. Most semi-permanent dyes don’t use developer. You can just mixed semi-permanent with conditioner.

Just for those who are telling her to leave it in longer, color stops working after a certain amount of time because the hair can only hold so much pigment It won’t Absorb more after the suggested time left in hair

I use Pravana Vivids in Violet on my dark brown hair and it works! Especially in the sun it looks very purple, and the more times I dyed it the more the color showed up.

This seems like a product for maintaining color after your hair has been bleached and colored,. It’s also worth noting that you can make this by getting a tube of purple dye and mixing it with any conditioner. I always did that when I bought my color. I kept seeing ads for this and realized that I used to make it at home.

I've been waiting for this one! I actually used the extreme purple on my hair too! My hair is slightly lighter than yours, probably a medium brown, with some highlights. On me it does show up a bit more and I especially love how it looks on the blonder strands of my highlighted hair! I'm actually thinking of redoing it tomorrow. It's been maybe a month since I first used the deep conditioner and I'm still having purple come out of my hair in the shower, so it does last quite a bit... for me anyway. I love that it's basically a conditioner that deposits color, and that way I don't have to commit to using an actual hair dye. Lol. I'd love to see you try this again with red though, and see how that works out on your dark hair!

I have their regular conditioner in extreme orange. I have medium brown hair and it gives me a nice copper red color. It also leaves my hair super silky. I loooooove the spearmint and rosemary scent.

I have similar hair color to you. I read on their site that you could try by putting it in a shower cap and heat for 5-15 minutes. Then, after rinsing the deep conditioning, put a bit of the conditioner and rinse. Style like usual. So, when I tried it, my hair looked purple in the sunlight. My son said it looks more maroon than purple on my color. I thought I would share.

I love Overtone!!! I got in purple since it's my fav color plus I had a few purple strikes added at the salon. Since it can gets pricey I decided to use overtone to add more purple & maintain them w/out breaking the bank. I'm glad I did cause I loved it plus it doesn't damage your hair. I did try the red and it's basically the same experience. I don't really see it but a bit outside. It suggests to do it on dry hair for more vibrant color. I wet mine because I was nervous. But I def think I would do it dry next time but obviously expect it to be a bit subtle if you have dark brown hair.

I feel like with dark hair it would just add a very slight tint when light hits your hair. For a $29 container of conditioner it could give your hair a really pretty shimmer.

Hi love, thanks for the video. Just a tip, of u ever get dye on ur skin....instead of washing with soap and water multiple times, just get whole milk and heat it up til its warm. Rub it on ur skin. Takes the dye right off the 1st use 😊

Happened upon this video completely by chance, but I'm glad I did. Now I know not to bother getting Overtone for myself when I need to freshen my purples between appointments =( It would probably work on the pieces that I have lightened, but I think I'll stick to the stain fest that is Splat Midnight Amethyst to freshen the color in between. Damn.

I’ve been wanting to dye my hair for the longest time but its super dark brown just like yours. I tried the splat no-bleach red dye and it tinted my hair but in direct sunlight you could see it more than inside. I’m too scared to bleach my hair (especially cause I have long and thick hair) but I guess there really isn’t any other choice lol

She doesnt use peroxide or bleach. Its not damaging at all the dyes shes uses. Its just like a coating. Semi permanent dye.

Tip: use petroleum jelly, doesnt matter which brand, and rub it along your neck, around your ears, face and forehead to prevent color dye from staining your skin.

You can definitely tell untoned looks like it has a lighter color in it when the light hits it and the toned parts looks more like shinny dark hair rather than a lighter dark hair
