I've gotten into so much music just from this show. I just wish they didn't kill of Marissa. But this show holds a special place in my heart. Thanks for keeping it alive

Well, she wasn’t actually so old IRL as Julie character on the show. She was in her early 30s when they aired it then.. so she isn’t as “aged” as you might’ve imagined.

When they’re taking about who almost didn’t get cast, I thought it was gonna be Ben McKenzie, as they first cast Garrett Hedlund, but then he dropped out to star in Troy, they then approached Chad Michael Murray but he wanted to do One Tree Hill, and only then did Ben McKenzie get cast. Olivia Wilde was also in the running for Marisa, it came down to her and Mischa in the end.

She was a lot younger than the others (I think 16 when she started, the others were in their 20s), and I think they didn't really take her under their wing as much as they should have given her age, didn't support her enough during that intense scrutiny she was under...so when she started acting out, I think they mainly just saw her as immature, annoying, and as a problem. Which is such a pity.
