is it safe to leave phantom on? I got a mv7 and a condenser mic, both connected through XLR to the same XLR port to a maonocaster e2 with a XLR cable splitter. When I leave 48v activated, the condenser works and the Shure still works fine but with no differences.

In my experience, you won’t hurt the MV7 with phantom power turned on.

Hi, i just bought this mic yesterday, im having hard times with this mic on usb mode, im currently using the mic at max gain (36db) compressor at medium, the mic is around 4 inch away from my mouth and on my meter im peaking around -14db, is there any setting that i missed? i want to use this mic mainly for streaming.

@@fabienrosso3564 hey i had the same issue recently, i bought a focuslite scarlett solo 3rd gen with an xlr cable and it made the sound way better i would recommend that

did you get an DAC? I am having same problem with the mic; audio is good only if the mic is close to mouth else it will be very low. and there is Noise has well if I keep it 36db gain and keep mic further away...

Thanks for making this clear. For me it was not obvious if P48 will destroy anything in the (passive) mike when something like the preamp is connected in between and needs P48 from the interface to run.

Hi! Two questions - 1. Is it important to turn the gain nob down when turning the phantom power on / off? 2. When you're done for the day, can you leave everything as is, or should I turn off the phantom power / gain / both? Thanks!

Great questions. Turning the gain knob down just prevents the channel from popping when the 48v is turned on. You don’t NEED to, but it’s technically the correct thing to do. I try to turn thing off when I’m done for the day. But I’ve never heard of any gear getting hurt from being left on.

I currently use a SM7b +cloudlifter with a scarlett 2i2 2nd gen (phantom power activated)... Now I want to plug an MV7 as a secondary mic, but the scarlett only both input with phantom power or both without phantom power.. Question is, will phantom power damage the MV7 (without using cloudlifter in between)

I use the Mv7 for work and I tried not using a booster (like the cloudlifter), but people were saying I was too quiet. I didn't want to boost my gain too much on my interface to get too much room noise... so I got the Klark Teknik CM-1 booster instead for a lot cheaper. If you are using the mv7 usb you don't need a booster or interface.

No it does not. It's a dynamic microphone. That being said, if you're using an inline preamp (Cloudlifter, etc.) you will need phantom power.

No, you an achieve a loud volume with both XLR and USB. It has more to do with your gain/volume setting.

So to use it with the XLR cable, you still need an audio interface even if you don't need Phantom power? As in it can't be connected directly to via adapter to USB C into a Macbook?

You probably don't need this answer at this point, but yes correct. XLR needs an interface and that connects to your comupter. If you want to go directly from the mic to your macbook you will need to use the micro usb to usb C cable into your macbook.
