I am a big fan of music and legendary singers like Celine, Barbara, Whitney and Mariah. Even So Hyang grew up idolizing these same singers also that's why you hear some similarities when she sings. I will say this, So Hyang is the only singer that I heard could get me to become emotional whether it's goosebumps or tears and sometimes both at the same. So in my opinion, she is the best singer I have heard in my lifetime.

I love this woman's voice. I stumbled on one of her videos a couple years ago and was blown away. Here is my two cents on songs to check out: She's got two popular Whitney covers -- I Have Nothing in 2015 on the I Am [A] Singer Legend show, and I Will Always Love You on the Begin Again show in 2021. On the Immortal Songs 2 show, she Covers Bill Withers' Lean on Me with Michael Bolton judging and also a great version of You Raise Me Up. There are other versions on KZbin, but the sound quality can be iffy on these. If the view count is in the millions, you probably got one with decent sound quality. A lot of the high view songs are a little older, but she was out a few years due to recurrent bouts of pneumonia. She also has a bunch of songs in Korean that are pretty awesome, but you might want to stick to the English language ones to start.

I forgot to mention that during her cancer surgery two decades ago, So Hyang needed a blood transfusion. However, the blood received was contaminated, resulting in her contracting hepatitis B or C. This has made So Hyang suseptible to pneumonia. She has battled severe pneumonia eight times between 2016 - 2020. She has performed several times while not fully recovered from pneumonia and against the advice from her doctors because she did not want to disappoint the audience. Her technique is rock solid because the performances were still master class worthy.

So Hyang is a devout Christian and gospel singer from South Korea. In her early 20's and newly married, she was diagnosed with early stage uterine cancer, which left her unable to have children. After being completely healed by God and her doctors, So Hyang's goal has been to use her voice to bring comfort to people who are experiencing difficult times. She IS NOT motivated by either money or fame. She has rejected numerous offers from major record labels. In addition to being a published author of several fiction books, she lectures about singing and vocal techniques at a South Korea university. So Hyang, her husband, and some assistants, arrange every aspect of her live performances; the music, backing vocals, staging, lighting, etc. She can sing all genres of music from ROCK to RAP (YES!!, she is a BADASS rapper).

Good reaction guys :) You literally just heard the best vocalist in the world; as in the most technically proficient singer. There's obvious subjectivity in whether you like someone's singing style and voice, but the only objective measure you can gauge is singing technique, which she is the best at. Some other recommendations include Lean on Me, I Have Nothing, Arirang Alone, Easy on Me, Everyone (search English subtitles), Dream. Keep up the good work!

Sohyang is two syllables, "So" Not Sue. Then "Hyang" should have the H and Y blending together. As to the last sound part being 'ang or oung' I believe it should be somewhere in the middle of these two sounds, but us English speakers have a hard time making the sound so most people say "Young".

The show is called “ Immortal Songs” by the Korean broadcast station( KBS) . You see a lot of great artists give outstanding live performances on the show. including Forestella! The winners of the weekly show then compete for the “ King of Kings” title twice a year. Forestella earned the title 6 consecutive times.

We all wonder if Sohyang is human or from another planet. Current odds are that she’s from another planet, with an outside chance she’s actually an angel come down from Heaven. 😇 We have never heard anyone sing like her, or be able to hold an audience in the palm of her hand until she lets them go. Her voice is, as one person described it, like liquid gold. Perfection in clarity and pitch, and she doesn’t fade in the upper octaves, which is startling when you hear her hit those 5th and 6th octave notes with such _POWER_ it actually gives everyone goose bumps-and makes us bald guys’ hair stand on end! As she says, her voice “is from God.” She does all the musical arrangements herself, with the input of her in-law family and musical assistants, teaches vocal technique at a South Korean university and speaks four languages: Korean, English, Vietnamese and Chinese, as well as reading French and Greek! Let me catch my breath. OK. She is a cancer survivor from uterine cancer at the age of 20, just after getting married, and states very plainly that God saved her life due to the prayers of her church. But this left her without the ability to have children so she decided to dedicate her life to being a Contemporary Christian Gospel singer and has refused recording contracts from the biggest corporations in the world. She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work, to strengthen those suffering through difficult times. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all eagerly worked with her when they were in Asia. She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. Whitney Houston’s former manager saw her on KZbin and showed her to Oprah Winfrey, who brought her to David Foster’s attention. Foster then contacted Sohyang and went to Japan in order to have her perform eight concerts with him at Tokyo’s famous Blue Note Club in late-2018. BTW, Sohyang created a number of memorable performances on this show "Immortal Songs 2" where known artists are invited to re-interpret a song based on a selected theme each week, and the audience will choose their favorite live. I believe the theme for this show was popular English pop song and Sohyang brought with her a diamond-rated stage for the ages.
