Can you believe it? She has suffering with pneumonia when this performance. . But it's true. .!!(She suffered from pneumonia about eight times between 2016 and 2018).. . and she slayed it legendary. . .she is amazing. . !!!

This arrangement is a masterpiece, and the vocals are stunning as usual, but what's more amazing is that she was recovering from pneumonia when she performed this. Thank you for the reaction and analysis. I really enjoyed it. More Sohyang, please.

We are so blessed that once an effective antiviral came along for the Hepatitis she contracted due to the blood transfusion during her cancer surgery that her immune system rebounded and her health has markedly improved.

Dan, as you have already read, she was still recovering from a bout of Chronic pneumonia. That is why her breathing is evident, which is very unusual. One of her exceptional qualities is that she seems never to breath. It is a tribute to her dedication and resilience that she performed so marvelously - she said she didn't want to disappoint her fans. Cheers.

Dan, though you wouldn't know this unless you investigated this performance a bit, Sohyang should not even have been singing that night because her doctor told her not to since she was still recovering from pneumonia. So if that breath and choice of breathing intervals seemed a teeny bit strange to you, now you know why! But no matter what Sohyang sings, she injects life into you. She is the most extraordinary woman I know of. You can tie your behind to a piano and it will prove futile because Sohyang's performance will literally suck you into the emotion and power she exudes, piano and all! She is the most magical singer I have come across in my entire six and one half decades on this planet. Sohyang is truly a once in a lifetime singer. The guy in the video was Shane Filan of the Irish group Westlife. The television program was a tribute to him and his band, and every performer that night sang one of their hits. Westlife had a monster hit in the UK with "You Raise Me Up," thus Sohyang sang this in tribute to him. Shane told Sohyang that after hearing her version "the hairs on the back of my neck were standing up" and it was "amazing" and "outstanding!" Not hard to see why, eh? The music for the song "You Raise Me Up" was originally written by a Norwegian group called Secret Garden, while the lyrics were written by an Irishman named Brendan Graham. Mr. Graham saw Sohyang's performance and was absolutely thrilled by her rearrangement of the music and rendition, so he had the Irish embassy in Seoul get in contact with Sohyang to let her know that he felt her version was the best ever. Sohyang had to _really_ pull back on concerts after this appearance, and thought it might actually be the last one of her singing career due to the serious pneumonia. Thus the Irish embassy had a difficult time finding Sohyang but they did finally get a hold of her and delivered Mr. Graham's message. Other than this one performance, we know of only two other times Sohyang has performed this rendition of "You Raise Me Up," both in 2018. When she changes key there a couple of times near the end of the song and belts those high notes so powerfully, you expect her to actually lift off the stage and go into orbit! Yes, Sohyang is famous for throwing in everything and leaving it all on the stage--including the kitchen sink! This perf was her last perf in 2018 before a long break of performing. She was out of hospital due to a bout of pneumonia and doctor even advised against performing. I heard that she intended to do this perf as her last before quitting singing (due to incessant health issues getting in her way) altogether. Thank goodness she decided to come back 2 years later. This is not on my favorite perf because i could notice that she struggled and her vocal quality was off here and there (and i was super sad to see her pushing) .. but i also admire her ability to manage her vocal to deliver at her best despite all things in her way. The fact that she thoroughly mastered every part of her voice and could utilize them in almost every situation makes her a top-tier vocalist with no further questions needed. Thank you so much dr.Dan for your enthusiasm and your attentive reaction to our beloved Sohyang. I am truly looking forward to seeing your reaction to her latest single ‘til you love me again’ soon. 🥰🎉🥳🙏🏼

Sohyang's single was released on Aug. 3. The title track is "Til you love me again," a big ballad from the 80s and 90s.

Sohyang was recovering from pemonia here, so I am not surprised if she had to swallow. Her doctor advised her not to sing but she did anyway. If you look carefully you will see her tongue is coated. Probably also why there are a few small cracks. I still love this performance. Amazing how well she did it considering she had only not long left the hospital.

This Master Class performance from the PHENOMENAL So Hyang was even more impressive given the fact that she IS NOT well here. Some time prior to this event, So Hyang was released from the hospital, still recovering from her latest bout with severe pneumonia (eight times between 2016 - 2020). Her doctors advised her to cancel, to not talk, and to just rest. So Hyang did not want to disappoint the audience. Furthermore, she believed her singing career was over because around this time, she was also experiencing vocal cord issues. She wanted to sing one last time. Afterward, So Hyang disappeared from public singing for nearly two years. She returned in 2020. She has proved that her vocal technique is rock solid. In 2024, not only is she aging in reverse, she sounds better than ever before, if that's even possible.

소향은 4번째 폐렴에서 회복중이었는데 이날 공연을 감했했다 얼굴도 부은상태고 이날 모든걸 주님께 의지한채 공연을 했고 이공연이 you raise me up 커버중 전세계에서 역대급이라는 평가를 받고 있습니다 어쩌면 망칠수있었던 무대를 성공적으로 마쳤고 다시 병원에 입원 했다고 합니다 이노래를 부르기 몇년전 같은 노래를 불렀지만 평범 했었구요 이노래가 본인의 음악인생중 마지막일지 모른단 간절함으로 준비한곡이라고 합니다 그녀의 노래에 반응해 주셔서 감사합니다 ^^❤

Brendan Graham, the original songwriter of “You Raise Me Up,” heard Sohyang's cover version of this video on KZbin. He contacted the Korean Embassy to get in touch with Sohyang, and they provided him with Sohyang's contact information. He wanted to give her his new song, and she was honored and agreed to collaborate. This episode is from three years ago, and by the time of this story, “You raise me up” had been remade more than 165,000 times, with Sohyang's version being the one chosen by the original songwriter. Sohyang's new album is coming out in October, and I hope that the song he gave her song.

Sohyang is a singer who doesn't need words. I personally like it too. Please show us your reaction to the amazing group "Forestellar". There are also a lot of cover songs such as Bohemian Rhapsody, Bad Romance, Despacito, Angel, Phantom of the Opera, and Nella Fantasia. You'll never regret anything you hear. Thank you for your reaction video and sharing your knowledge with us! SoHyang is an Artist that I cannot pick a favourite Performance but have managed a top 25 and that changes often ! She has so much terrific Music! Many don’t even count her Her OST( Official Sound Tracks) of Korean Dramas ! They are not as big as many of her other Performances but many at are simple Wonderful! I have a recommendation for a performance video! It is often in my top 5 for duets of hers! It is Titled, “ Childish Adult”, a jazzy number! I agree with you about that unnecessary breath she took before "sea". You're the only one who has pointed that out. Perhaps a fully healthy Sohyang might not have taken the breath?
