CH in "chispa" is just as in "chica". CH is ALWAYS a strong CH in Spanish🙂 And it's not "chipsa", it's "chispa". The "s" goes before the "p" as in "Aspen" 🙂

Thanks for your views! I feel a lot will come down to how well they stage and perform, there have always been surprises in Benidorm Fest. La Chispa means "the spark" and it is pronounced "CHEES - PAH". Hope that helps!

The only thing that will help is her saying her name :-D- I give up at this point. A lot of songs fell apart live last year at BF, I am praying that doesn't happen this year because some of these track can be elevated to possible ESC top 10 status.

This video was so much fun... Spain is a country that can drive everyone crazy... The mix of delusion, cheesiness, self confidence, amateurism and spontaneous art... We call it "duende" (like a genie), a duende moment is when the magic happens, when everything coordinates and you get the "umami" taste from a performance. Spain lacks consistency and budget but it is a fun country to follow and root for. Maybe duende will happen with one of the songs at Benidorm! My faves for this year are La Pena (with a revamp for the second half), I'm a queen, Hartita de llorar of course and also Uh Nana.

I still think Spain is suffering from PTSD after Blanca. In a way, I am too. I'm not from Spain but I have no idea what would work at ESC. Chanel with a really great performance but with a bad song, Blanca with a great song and performance or Nebulossa with a certain nostalgic vibe and a message? Loved them all. I still think they should try to do it the Dutch way. Invite great names from Spain or the rest of the world just to show that ESC is not this queer festival anymore. Maybe Julio Iglesias is still available, haha.

The issue of music videos, which we all in Spain also ask for, is because RTVE is the public broadcasting channel, so making money is not their priority. enough is spent on the show and on being members of the Big5. but i completly agree

As a Spaniard, last year had NO standouts for the studio cut besides St. Pedro (and not fully) for me. This year I have more favorites and tracks that I listen to often. Matter of perspective I guess. Sad to hear Mel is one of your faves because the song is not very popular and she's in a tough semifinal. She'll still rock it live though.

Esa diva is a song composed by G:son team, and sounds like Still Young by Charlotte Perrelli but with Spanish instruments sounds. Same beat and progression. These songs were given money to support the production of final masters, so these songs are final for sure. So no revamp on the horizon for anyone I guess. Benidorm fest is going to be a platform for good artists presenting songs and somehow one of the them could do something at eurovision but not final thought in the decisions

I personally think this year most songs are decent and pleasant to listen to, but only one stands out and could do well in eurovision (hartita de llorar), the problem is that I'm afraid the staging will be disappointing, I'm preparing mentally for that already...

Unpopular opinion maybe, but there is not much to say about Benidorm this year. =\ Don't know if a whole video was needed, even. The topic got exhausted pretty quickly. xD If there's no winner material in a national selection (or a personal favorite for myself) I just sit back and let them duke it out.

Honestly, I don't care about the stage of La Chispa, she has the song and the voice, there is enough time to do a well stage for Eurovision. Remember Ireland last year! The problem is the fandom of Melody, they will vote massivelly for her and the song is outdated.

If Andrew Lambrou could get to a almost top 10 finish with two waterfalls on the background and not even singing live most of the notes I dont see why JKbello cant reach a similar position with a good performance. He finished second on a cover show on rtve last year so I dont fear on the vocals and he is a dance teacher also. LaChispa is obviously the other option for me, but we all know the eurovision audience and that could go either way but it would be backed by juries at the very least

Spain has a particular music world which gets some influence from international music but has a big share of national artists, really similar within few different styles (flamenco/Andalusian influenced pop, Spanish rock sung by males looking like junkies and whose voice is shit, and males/females singing emotional songs with simple music soundings). Apart from these, there is only REGGEATON. What I mean is that we Spaniards have a different/particular musical taste I completely disagree with, but it's the common here. The problem with La Casa, as happens with David's song, is that they sound just like a 90's song. In addition, it is the first song Celine writes EVER. So who knows what she can do onstage. But I do hope she won't try dancing salsa with a hat full of fruits, as would be normal in the 90's. David's song is just a Mark Anthony song from the 90's. Both sound DATED for Spaniards. And we like La Pena a lot because it modernizes an old musical style very popular in Spain in the 50's or 60's we all have grown listening to in movies or tv. For me, though I like it, the problem with VIP is that is sounds so unnatural with all that English wording all over the song. I think we see it ok in songs from non Spanish people but feel it too planned when sung by a Spaniard (as JKbello is). And the same could be said for Uh nana and Bésame. The quality of this year songs is quite bad tbh.

Lowkey she is underrated. She will be probably be a dark horse that no one expects if she makes it to the final. If you like Chispa’s song then you will also like Mel’s song. Cuz both have great, unique, and strong voices. Both have songs that go up and down. Only problem people recognize “Hortita de llorar” more than “I’m Queen”
