Does Squidward Hate Patrick or Spongebob More?

My interpretation has been that he probably hates Patrick more but is more annoyed by SpongeBob. He definitely has less common ground with Patrick than SpongeBob, but if it weren't for SpongeBob, Patrick would probably just spend most of his life asleep under his rock. SpongeBob is the one who always makes a point of checking up with Squidward and bringing Patrick along. So I'd say he enjoys spending time with Patrick less than SpongeBob, but he has to deal with SpongeBob much more often so probably thinks about his negative emotions towards SpongeBob more.

Exactly,couldn’t have said it any better myself.Patrick is more of an ‘accomplice’ who will add more to SpongeBob’s nonsense but would almost never irritate Squidward on his own.The only exception I can remember was the episode,’Restraining SpongeBob’ when SpongeBob was out of the picture because of Squidward legal threats,only to be replaced by Patrick.I must admit that I was expecting that Squidward would prefer SpongeBob’s company(only a little) more than Patrick’s,given that Squidward did show moments of concern for SpongeBob.Being colleagues for a long time,it makes sense that they would interact a lot more than with Patrick.Squidward also probably knows that compared to Patrick,SpongeBob has mostly good intentions behind his actions but is just as stubborn or dumb to know when to listen and stop.

I can agree with this interpretation, but I feel it should also be added that Squidward probably puts up with SpongeBob more because they work together, so he has to be able to tolerate him, even if only a little. In other words, because he spends more time around SpongeBob than he does Patrick, Squidward is more tolerant of the former due to necessity, which in turn leads to him being nicer to SpongeBob than he ever is with Patrick

I knew that he hated SpongeBob more when I rewatched that episode, and he couldn't remember Patrick's name. It makes sense... Patrick isn't that bad of a neighbor unless SpongeBob is involved. He's a relatively lazy Starfish. He remains in his home for a good amount of time, and most of his non-SpongeBob annoyance comes from the Krusty Krab. I don't know how their relationship is nowadays.

He's definitely had more friendly and heartfelt moments towards SpongeBob though, like the ending of graveyard shift, the ending of pizza delivery, the ending of the first movie, the Christmas episode, that time he stood up for him against Mr Krabs for selling his soul for 62 cents, his apology in the April fools episode, and of course Dying For Pie. I think he has more complicated feelings towards spongebob, but he's not as close to Patrick so to him Patrick is just plain annoying.

I say Patrick He gets mad a SpongeBob specifically more often, but we see them actually getting along together a lot too. Patrick's stupidity usually causes even worse problems for Squidward, and at least _SpongeBob_ will at times try to rectify his wrongs against Squidward.

Although Squidward’s only been nice to SpongeBob, he basically blames his lack of clarinet skills etc, on everyone believing he could concentrate more effectively if he was left alone instead of working at The Krusty Krab as evidenced when he went to the future got stuck basically in time and space, and was stuck with his thoughts. It’s more likely his laziness and lack of motivation like avoiding work when there’s nothing etc.

If you remeber from the restraining order episode, when he gave SpongeBob a restraint order SpongeBob used Patrick as a in between for the two, but after Patrick annoyed Squidward more, he gave the restraining order to Patrick in the end.

To be honest, If i remember it correctly both Squidward and Patrick left bikini bottom during the No Spongebob day aren't they? The show is always interesting everytime Patrick interacted with Squidward or anyone alone without Spongebob being around. He didnt want to please everyone, Patrick is just patrick and he gets angry with anyone that he thinks is stepping over his boundry. Most of the time when he is alone Patrick just act all natural around Squidward and messing him up just by doing his own thing. It is only in later season that he started to being mean to Squidward like that one whole episode about Squidward's ink, while spongebob annoyed him everyday because he is trying to be friends with him and always make things worse for him. Not only that, in the very early season Patrick is not even that loud or annoying, when he is alone he usually just spend his time sunbathing on top of his rock. Patrick's problem is just that he is stupid and cant really help himself but he is just minding his own business unlike Spongebob. I can clearly see how Patrick is seen as less annoying than spongebob. However we do know that Squidward did care for the two of them and he understands that Spongebob is unable to stand for himself which Squid take upon himself to stand up for him like that time when Squidward stands up against Mr. Krabs after selling Spongebob to Flying Dutchman and that one time when he smacked a customer in the Pizza episode.

I think he hate Patrick a bit more. SpongeBob only annoys him, but there are a few times where Patrick will physically hurt, scare and fights actually fights in a few episodes. And in the episode "Restraining SpongeBob" the episode ends with Squidward remove SpongeBob name from the restraining order and puts Patrick's name on it.

I think that the only reason it's not just outright "He hates Patrick more" is because he has to put up with Spongebob more. He can kinda grit through one-on-one interactions with Spongebob and sometimes even get along with him, but generally speaking whenever he has to deal with Patrick alone Squidward _really_ suffers for it. It sometimes seems to me like Squidward mainly _focuses_ on Spongebob when they're together because he respects Patrick less, like Squidward thinks that Spongebob should have enough sense to not bother him, or that Spongebob is Patrick's minder or something.

I say it's SpongeBob imo sure he's been nice to him in the older seasons but that's kind of the only times he been nice to him. Squidward in one episode where Patrick had to jump off of the plank to fall on pies because Mr.Krabs wanted more money Squidward said he wanted to push SpongeBob off instead and an in modern episode he's in an group that hates SpongeBob. In an one episode he read SpongeBob's diary and humiliated SpongeBob and made him cry something he have never done to Patrick and before you say Squidward felt bad for doing that he still did it nonetheless. He sees SpongeBob everyday it would just make sense to he would dislike SpongeBob more since he knows him better.

I’d say SpongeBob- even if some episodes squidward cares about SpongeBob, SpongeBob actively bothers and instigates problems for Squidward. Patrick is just a bum who literally lives under a rock. He’d dislike Patrick, but I imagine he’d HATE SpongeBob- plus you gotta remember he has to work around SpongeBob at least 8-10 hours a day at the Krusty Krab, so that would make it even worse!
