What about using ATS applied in a 2x2? For sand, should a humic be added to help keep the ATS from moving down in the soil profile?

Great question. You could use ATS in 2x2. That is an option if so equipped. The research has shown that ATS sprayed is not as effective as AMS or Pel Gyp. In theory it should be similar in response, but in research it's not as responsive as the other two.

I’m also curious about adding it in furrow or adding it in with the pre spray? I know small amounts of ats will desolve in water, will that still work at higher rates or will you need more water per acre?

I wonder about nutrient stratification in no till and how to combat it. Are cover crops the only option? Or should I even be concerned about it?

That’s a great question. There is definitely stratification in no till. Cover crop is one way to help dilute that. Ironically, tilling soil at some point in time is actually not a bad idea. But in the meantime, cover crops could be a good assistant.

Stratification is a problem that builds over time. Yields don't decline due to continuous no-till, but careful soil disturbance after prolonged no-till has resulted in astonishing yield bumps! I don't know if it's all stratification, but it's a likely suspect.

Could a guy run 10 gal of ATS with the pre-emerge behind the planter ?

@@zachoconnor7536 Great question. In theory, yes you can, however the data isn't as supportive to applications of pel gyp and AMS. Not saying it wouldn't work, but it would be my third choice behind pel gyp and AMS
