So I have been messing around with Testament for some hours now and here are my day one thoughts! Now its certainly too early to feel how strong/weak Testament is(they don't feel bad, but neither top tier) but the biggest takeaway I can give you is Testament feels fun so far, and thats the most important thing. Sorta in a weird way reminds me of SF4 Rose, if she was jacked up on the anime with the big normals and screen control options. Thumbs up for now, more to come later! Goldlewis was my main character before, but Testament is my new favorite. It's crazy how cool they are to play! Awesome video as always!

Dang! Testament looks pretty fun with the big normals! As a Potemkin main, I gotta watch out for those, as I might most likely lose the poke wars. I should start hitting the lab again! Also, on a side note, I'm already impressed with the White House stage and its many different backgrounds to transition to, including the stage which president Vernon stands.

The reason as to why the overhead bite does more damage OTG than the low one is because in this game moves that hit OTG tend to do 60-80% of their normal damage (depends on the move) except if they hit directly the ground, in which case they do 100%. This includes moves that swing downward like Ramlethal's Sabrobato or Sol's 6H. In this case, if you check the damage of the last hit of the 2K 2D 214X combo that you did, the low one dealt 25 damage... which is 60% to the 43 damage the overhead move did

Arc sys should give an option to choose and randomise what section of the stage you can start in. It baffles me as to why that is not an option.

@@captainmega6310 It's like adding 27 more stages. Even dbfz had that option. And since it's already loaded into one stage you can get a variety of 3 different starting locations when you hit rematch even. Sure is it essential? No... but would it be cool if they do? Yes.

Technically we dont need 12 stages or 12 character colours or multiple cosmetics or even a figurine mode to play the game. Hell you could even say new music is not essential cus we have the old ones. It's not just about functionality mate.

TBH, the succubus OD is actually a better reversal since it will NOT disappear when Testament got hit and grant your turn back 100%.

Succubus super is not invincible, you will get smacked for trying it.

Weird little thing, don’t know how good or consistent it is, but teleport in place can let you avoid some attacks, I’ve only done it once on accident, but it could be a cool little defensive option, this character seemingly has a lot of potential like this

Yep it has true invincibility on some of the frames, however its start up is big enough there isn't really much you can do with it sadly in a real sense. Neat to know, but little practical use at this time.

10:30 Important note: Slow reversal supers do have the super, PRC for half your tension bar tech. Testament, Axl, Pot, and Faust will wake up with super, PRC, throw.

doesn't seem to work the same way for Testament. I got stuffed every time I tried *EDIT* Ok its doable, but its much more strict than Fausts version. Literally every character can do it but its the ease of use that makes it practical and I don't think Testament is reasonable. *EDIT AGAIN* you know what? I think I found the timing, maybe its not as bad as I thought. Still not as easy as faust but now I understand it better, not so bad

@@Rooflemonger yeah, Axl and Testament have 11 frames before their flash, Faust has 16. That means you can wait longer to be sure the opponent's attack is out of active frames. Shorter duration means you have to be slow enough to get through their active frames, yet fast enough to prevent your flash, so the timing becomes more precise/difficult.

I mean a good 6p and invincible reversal is all the defense you need haha, the celestial testaments I've matched with were definitely trying to lame me out 😅 one was actually doing real cool teleport stuff though, great character design

Teleport my favorite move on testy so far. That and using succubus to control part of the screen. Am I gonna teleport there or am i gonna do other stuff? am I gonna fake it to punish a whiff? Ya never know. I wonder what kind of roman cancel shenanigans i'll be able to pull off with that teleport. teleport into prc grab is an obvious one.

Pretty incredible. All of Strive Season Pass 1 are so unique and fantastic characters. I play everyone of them - in a bad way, obviously - expect Jack'O (shes fine but idk, too hard?)

Well as a mid level GG player(goldlewis main) my day on impression is that Testament can apply a nasty pressure but also I think at least for the endurant characters like potemkin her damage is sort of low alowing to still regroup even after taking considerable amount of hits.

I love testament’s kit, but arbiters sign (low/overhead move) is definitely a low point feels like a move they were scared to make too strong.

Pretty nice tech, but you can also skip the recovery frames on some slower moves by inputting Posession. I'm not sure if it work on whiff or only on block tho

Regarding the different damages on overhead and low arbiter sign, could it be the different OTG scalings of the moves? Since the opponent touches the ground before any of the biteys hit, they both should count as OTG, and from somewhere i read on the dustloop wiki, moves that have a up -> down animation usually have 100% OTG scaling. That means the number you're looking at for overhead bitey is purely from combo scaling and has no OTG element while the low bitey has the OTG scaling applied to it on top of damage scaling.

Uncharged dust into stained opponent is probably very good all things considered. Testament doesn’t have a unique over head from a command normal but they don’t necessarily need one since you can combo off of uncharged dust meterless. I thought this character would be more meter hungry but with stained they don’t actually need to use that much meter but they certainly gain a lot for having the resources to spend.

so ur telling me that testaments j.D is a omega disjointed projectile that isnt considered a projectile and actually hits overhead... while Ky j.D is a tiny pathetic excuse for a disjointed hitbox that is super minus and considered a projectile which means it doesnt hit overhead... well thats fine cuz ky projectiles apply shock state- ohhh wait his j.d doesnt apply shock state for whatever reason! dang my fault i forgot that move was as completely useless as it is. I need a hug 🤡

Testy really needs to set themselves up to get the most out of their kit, which is already a caveat other top characters don't need to work around. That said, setting up is pretty simple and their mid-range tools are all pretty solid, not to mention stealing Venom's teleport and Dark Angel. Nothing seems overly abusable but everything seems pretty good.

I really like this version of Testament. Imo they are the 2nd best DLC of season 1 (the 1st being Chaos) and my 2nd favourite character in the game (I main Zato but that might change soon considering how much I'm enjoying Testament), I only have a few complains about a couple of things: - 5H: I feel it should either pop higher without Stain, or don't knock down but have higher hitstun so you can combo Arbiter Sing on regular hit - 2H: I feel like it should be faster. Right now its a frame trap button and has huge reward if you hit since you can even link out of it, but i really wish it comboed from cS. - Grave Reaper: I'm fine with the succubus disapering if Testament gets hit but I feel like it doesn't stay on screen long enough - Arbiter Sing: Should be faster, Don't make it unreactable but I feel like its too slow atm - Unholy Diver: I'm fine with the crow being higher to the ground but I think it should be lower, maybe make it so that you can crouch under it or it doesn't hit small characters, - Possession: I really wish this worked with Stain State cuz you have to sacrifice the succubus for the teleport and Stain State feels so strong rn not to apply it. - Nostrovia: There are really only a few ways to combo into it, if they chanaged 2H to be more comboable it really would not matter that much but unless the opponent is in Stain allready its really difficult to use this one rather than Calamity One. I know it sound like I'm complaing about a lot of stuff but honestly some of these are more "the move would be better if", I'm really pleased with how Testament got released and i hope the character only get more fun to play in the future
