Does the ACC have a perception problem or a depth problem?

Why does the acc need to schedule big non conference games if they would be screwed by the cfp? The lsu-fsu game didn't matter

Other than Clemson who has won 2 🏆 and made other CFP Final appearances. The ACC is just weak and no one is taking the confrence seriously. FSU getting snubbed spoke volumes and thats not going to change imo. The fact that FSU and clemson are looking for a way out doesnt do the ACC any favors.

I wouldn't call it a perception problem. I'd call it a reality problem. Depth? It is simply not there. Please, people, without emotion, look at the ACC football metrics. Aside from FSU/Clemson, the league metrics really suck! That is the reality. the type of reality that can not and will not be ignored by the people who sign the billion dollar checks. Without FSU/Clemson, the ACC is metrically equivalent to the XII. They can polish up their football records all they want, but those improved football records wont matter if they don't bring along with them consistently and significantly better metrics. It seems that currently there is no time for that anyways, as it takes a decade or more to raise your teams real value. It took FSU and Oregon decades.

ACC beat SEC 7-5 last year. FSU beat LSU and UF. How does that fit into your theory?

Fits perfectly. It's ONE year. Do it regularly and the bottom of the conference needs to win those games and contribute to that perception of the ACC. Bringing in programs like Cal, Stanford and SMU doesn't enhance the perception.

Other than the games you listed look at the other games in the series. It's cute to throw out the metrics but any digging and you can see why. Everyone knows FSU was a top 6 team. They should beat LSU and Florida. If you took the two conferences and played number 1 vs number 1 number 2 vs number 2 Number 3 vs number 3 All the way down the SEC would win practically all of them.

If record is all that matters why even schedule difficult OOC games vs top 15/5 teams? People just see 13-0 vs a 55th SOS vs 12-1 with a 5th SOS and stupidly think the 13-0 is better despite the 11-1 being 1-0 vs #1 teams, 1-1 vs top 4, 3-1 vs top 15, and 4 ranked wins. While the 13-0 was 2-0 vs top 15, 3 ranked wins none of which were vs anyone in the top 10 let alone top 4.

The discussion was about the perception of the ACC. Andy went into on the field performance as the ultimate way of raising the perception of the ACC as a strong conference. He went into who they play, in conference and out, and winning on the field. Schools have to show they are investing in their football programs. He said just marketing conference football won't do it. I agree with him. That's how you change the perception of the conference. It was basically an SOS argument, and those teams have to win. Consistently. One season won't change the perception of the conference overall.

ACC is LOADED this year. The following teams will all win 9+ games: FSU 11 wins Miami 10 wins Clemson 9 wins NCst 9 wins Louisville 9 wins
