I own the same RTT. A couple of tips...when setting up the spring rod poles, its easier to put them in the base first & then hook them through the loops. When packing it away, you'll want to use the velcro straps to hold the cover down and then do your tucking. Once you have everything tucked away, then use the metal latches. You can adjust the ladder angle by collapsing it a bit from the top rung down. Nice walk around, its a great tent.

Thank you for your compliments. I’m really happy to hear you’ve been running the same tent and still love it. Thank you for the tips. I guess the more I use it, set up and break down, the more I’ll learn the most efficient ways to set up and break down. I see you’re in the Ozarks? Man, that is a bucket list for me. It looks amazing there and I’d LOVE to explore the Ozarks one day. It’s not that far from me… I just need to make the plans.

Dude if you can do me a favor and measure how wide the base of the tent at the front is, i noticed the cap is wider than the base like where the ladder and awning poles connect that base area it would be a huge help 🙏🏼
@RoadRashOffRoad28 күн бұрын
I just measured it. The base of the tent is just over 4 feet (about 49 in or so). A couple of issues I had with my rooftop tent and 270 awning combination I need to push the tent as far over to the passenger side as possible to hook on the ladder, but I can’t get the tent close enough to the edge where the ladder will hook on . I think this is more of an issue with my rhino rack platform system than the tent. Nonetheless, I just fabricated 2L brackets, screwed them into the backbone system and hook my ladder there. The other issue I have is when the 270 awning is installed, I cannot insert the rain flap poles because the 270 awning is blocking the rain flap holes

Updated video on this tent? how many night do you have in it so far?
@RoadRashOffRoadАй бұрын
I have spent about 20 total nights in this tent. Mostly in warm / hot climate. I haven’t spent many colder evenings yet, however I have a trip coming up this weekend and it will be cooler in the night. I will film a full update video on this tent while I’m at camp this weekend. Right off the bat I can tell you there are several great things I like and a few things I don’t. Things I like: It is very roomy - Unlike some of the other RTT’s, since this one lifts straight up on all 4 corners, it has a lot of room inside and you definitely don’t feel cramped or claustrophobic. 4 windows - I LOVE that there are windows / screens on all 4 sides. It makes for amazing scenic views and air passing through. Lightweight - since it’s not a hard shell, it is fairly lightweight on top of the rig. LED Lights - the LED light strip on the inside, adds just enough light and is not too overpowering at night time. Stable - the gas struts on all four corners are very strong. I have had this in winds of 20+ miles an hour and the tent was not even moving. I was comfortable. Dislikes, There are not many but a couple: Pack up - breaking down camp and closing the tent is not fast and takes a little bit of work to pull and stuff all the fabric in. Storage - Because it is not a hard shell, there is no ability to utilize the top of the tent as additional storage. I have seen some other tents that have additional roof rack storage on top to carry things like Max tracks, solar panels, Even extra fuel.

You are going to love it Christy. It was super easy to install. We went on an adventure last week and it was soooooo comfortable. I slept so awesome (except for the obnoxious group of young campers about a quarter mile down the road who wanted to party until 4:30am 😢)

Very nice rooftop tent. I like the rain flap overhangs on all 4 sides. The diesel heater opening is awesome.
@RoadRashOffRoad6 ай бұрын
Thank you, Todd. That is the big benefit why I chose this tent, to have windows on all four sides. It’s really nice however the trade-off is it’s not as easy and quick to close as the traditional clamshell rooftop tents. But I really do like open windows on all sides
@GrantFoxOfficial5 ай бұрын
Do you know the dimensions from mattress to ceiling? Also are the window sides able to open the mosquito nets too? Thanks
@RoadRashOffRoad5 ай бұрын
Right off hand, I do not. Next time I open it, I’ll measure it. I can tell you that I am right at 6’ tall. Laying down, I can stretch out the full length. Sitting up inside the tent, I have an estimated 1’6” from my head to the ceiling. I’ll measure it for sure and will let you know.

Couldn’t you hang the ladder from the edge of the rhino rack platform?
@RoadRashOffRoad10 күн бұрын
No. The ladder doesn’t hook to the Rhino Rack directly…. But I fabricated 2 L Brackets and screwed them into the rhino rack that will hook the ladder on.

10:25 FYI they have that style of tent now on amazon but with aluminum flat top. It comes with bars so you can mount extra stuff on top as well. Has a smaller profile as well.
@RoadRashOffRoadАй бұрын
I saw that.... the ability to mount extra stuff on top of the tent is quite interesting to me. Since I lost my roof rack, I lost the ability to store certain things that need to be outside of the cab of the jeep, like extra fuel. I use to store extra fuel on the roof rack but now, I have to either put it inside the jeep (which the smell sometimes can be bad) or opt not to bring extra fuel. I am doing an overlanding trip coming up in 2 weeks that will require me to have extra fuel.... it's a necessity.

I’m wondering how rainproof the box is when you are driving?
@RoadRashOffRoadАй бұрын
The RTT? 100% rainproof. The entire top of the RTT is one big piece of PVC and when it is closed, the sides overlap. It is next to impossible for any rain to get in while it is closed and you are moving.

Been looking at these only concern i have after seeing good omes fail is when the eye loop fails on the tent and those poles come down n smash out your windshield
@RoadRashOffRoad2 ай бұрын
Interesting… I’ve never thought of that. Having watched a lot of videos on RTT, specifically the Naturnest, I haven’t heard of any instances in which the eye loop fails and smashes the window. I guess I know what I’m doing for the next 2 hrs. I’m going to be searching eye loop fails on RTT and see what i come up with.

Just a word on those M/T tires you better rotate every 2 ND oil change. If you want them to last..I know you aren't familiar with those type tires they won't last if you don't do it..
@RoadRashOffRoad5 ай бұрын
thank you Scott. I welcome all advice from others. I can tell you I have been pleased with these M/T's by Kenda Klever. I rotate them religiously every 4000 miles, even rotating in the 5th spare on the back. with that said, I have gotten over 70,000 miles on this set of tires and have maybe 7,000 miles left to go. I have put them through hell and have never had an issue with them. I will be replacing these with another set of Kenda Klever M/T's.... that's how much I like these tires.

Whats wrong with camping on the ground? youll get alot more room and wont have to kneel and pee down the side of the car in the middle of the night.
@RoadRashOffRoad6 ай бұрын
“To each their own” Me personally, I don’t sleep 100% in a ground tent. I can never go completely asleep. I am always slightly awake, listening for animals in my campsite, or concerns with rain if the water is going to come up through the bottom of the tent. Also, when you’re only in camp for one night and packing up and leaving for another camp the next night, it is super easy and convenient just to pop open the tent and pull it shut.
@elsewhereoverland6 ай бұрын
You just climb down & find a tree. If you're in a ground tent, you're getting up off the ground or cot and getting out of the tent...its exactly the same effort. I sleep tons better in mine vs a ground tent. High & dry no matter how much rain falls overnight. And who's peeing on their car in the night? Gross.
