IMO there should be 4 or 5 exhibition races every year 1. The Clash, at Bowman Gray 2. The Shootout, at Daytona for more on track action for "Speedweeks" 3. The All-Star Race, at Charlotte for better racing and the all-star race has just not felt the same since moving away from Charlotte 4. An International or a return to a track, for international fans or just getting more eyes on NASCAR 5. A Testing event like the 2018 Charlotte all star race, at any track but we bring a wild or new package to test it. I also think we just need more Testing in general, And "Speedweeks" needs to come back for more headlines and excitement for the 500.

@@jabber1990 Yeah, it's because the people running the sport forgot the sight of "Stick with what works, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it." They tried to fix something that wasn't broken, and it turned into a disaster. They made it so it got more gimmicky, and put in worse drivers, and that's what messed it up.

It isn't "supposed' to be anything, its "supposed" to be whatever they want it to be, tradition is another word for stagnation, i think it should be a 150 mile race with the top 20 in points from the prior season at a rotating door of tracks, heck just throw all available tracks in a hat and pick one, that would be more exciting than the same race at the same lame super speedway every year, i kinda like Daytona, but 5 races a year on the same track gets boring, im 40 and even i think tradition is just the wrong road to take, its not 2006 anymore, the traditional audience is dying off, its time for NASCAR to finally enter the 21st century after 25 years of stagnation, its pretty sad when the technology in my 10 year old road car is beyond anything seen in NASCAR, maybe the racing would be better if they weren't using 25 year old technology

Yeah, and if they bring it back to Daytona, they need to put more meritocracy into making the race. One of the big problems with why the Clash went downhill in the first place is because worse drivers got put into the race in order to have bigger fields. That being said, I do think NASCAR needs to help fight back against the anti-racing community to keep racetracks alive, and this was a great first step.

I think it should stay at Bowman Gray, they spent so much time renovating, testing, and hyping it up to just leave after one year. It was a fantastic event and the fans were so happy to see cup cars back. The place was freaking packed and hardly anyone was sitting during the green laps. NASCAR took a win on the entire event coming back to that storied place from their roots, the fans in person, at home, and the drivers all said they loved it. I think NASCAR would be making a mistake to leave after everything they did to come back.

Here's a wild idea Have the clash back at Daytona but add the Xfinity and trucks series. Have the top 16 in owners points in cup, 12 in Xfinity and 10 in the truck series. 38 cars on track in separate classes kinda like IMSA. We have seen it done in iRacing and other sims and I think it would get people talking because we've never seen something like this in real life before.

The Clash honestly became a problem even before they left Daytona. Due to the rain delay in 2017 and the race being permanently a day race on a Sunday until 2020 was the start of the problem of The Clash. The 2021 Clash Daytona Road Course race was a good race! But a race being on a Tuesday Night on cable didn’t help. The LA Clash from 2022-2024 was a creative idea, but… idk. Didn’t care. Plus the 2023 race was terrible. The Clash at Bowman Gray, it’s still a cool idea, but I wish it was rebranded to a different name (even elsewhere). (Ironic that NASCAR is all for bringing back old roots, but refuse to get rid of the problems that still hurt NASCAR) To be honest, of course I’m all for the Daytona Clash Oval racing for Speedweeks, but if it doesn’t become a thing again… They can either bring back the Daytona Oval and make it a meaningful Saturday Night special race again, rotate somewhere else and rebrand the name, or just don’t do The Clash and start of the season at the Daytona Road Course. (Just random thoughts and idea I have). But as for Bowman Gray, if they can’t race at Charlotte again. That track would be perfect for the All-Star Race!

So here is a thought on, expansion and keeping BG. Stay at BG, but add xfinity and trucks, so you get a full weekend, with all 3 series stars. This will help build future branding for up and coming drivers, keep everyone close to home, cost down, and giving the fans an amazing weekend experience. It will also make this version of the clash a fun and exciting new identity, that would make it unique, yet special

Between the two major sporting events this past weekend, it’s safe to say that The Clash is at least not in the same boat that the NFL’s Pro Bowl is currently in right now (which is now just a glorified game of flag football with the points of “Whose Line Is It Anyway” added in for extra bonus). As for thr current format of The Clash? I do like how they now do provisional heat races with a last chance qualifier to get into the field (which honestly should be used more often than it is currently for qualifying metrics). They just scratch an itch that I have when it comes to setting the field up for a race (especially when it’s a short track race). I do feel like The Clash (as it currently stands) should be kept localized around the heart of the fanbase (namely within the local short track circuits that are within reasonable distance from Charlotte) to give the fans that first look since that’s your core audience. I think Bowman Gray worked better for me personally than LA since it already had that established base which wasn’t a hard sell plus there was just more passion from what I can see from TV perspective. You didn’t need a halftime special musical guest to hype the crowd… you had the cars and you gave track regulars a shot in a Cup Car. Don’t get me wrong, I like the current shakeup of the schedule to avoid the likes of 2 Poconos within 4 weeks of each other and adding/trying new tracks… but you should take care of/prioritize your core audience who’s gonna show up regardless first then do some experimenting. Outside of that, I may be in the minority but I do feel like I would like the main 4 (yes I count ARCA) schedules to not be so 1:1 every week. I would like to see more tracks exclusive to Cup with some exclusive to Xfinity and some exclusive to Truck. ARCA has enough schedule diversity for my liking (especially with the split between ARCA West & ARCS East). The one thing I loved about the 2000s Busch schedule was they went to tracks like Kentucky, Gateway, Nashville, Lucas Oil, etc. that the Cup didn’t go to. You got to have tracks for drivers to cut their teeth on and I’m for maybe including a track like South Boston on the Truck schedule while Cup goes to Montreal and Xfintiy goes back to a track like Chicagoland. End of the day, all big three races (Clash, All-Star, Championship) should annually rotate and be best suited for what needs to be accomplished. Clash hosting tracks like South Boston in the future would be fine with me if that’s what the Clash is going to be (a season kickoff close to home for the diehard fans).

Well, when it comes to the Clash, I understand that it's been through a lot the last few years with it being held on the Daytona Road Course in 2021 before being at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum the last 3 years and being held at Bowman Gray Stadium this year, but I strongly say that the Clash should return to Daytona and be held on Saturday night the week before the Daytona 500, thus bringing back Speedweeks and qualifying for the front row of the Daytona 500 would be held either on Saturday afternoon before the Clash or on Sunday afternoon. Also, here's what I would do for the eligibility format of the Clash: It would involve pole winners from the previous season, past winners of the Clash, former Daytona 500 winners, former Cup champions, playoffs drivers from the previous season and former pole winners for the Daytona 500. All-in-all, in the end, that's all I've got to say, so let me hear what anyone has to say on this and take care!

La was a cool event but I left there still wanting that extra race at Daytona to make it feel like speedweeks. I don’t like that the clash is becoming a big blockbuster event that’s taking away from the attention being on Daytona to start the year it’s basically the second race now. Keep the clash at bowman gray or other short tracks like it as a fun little opener to get excited for racing season before Daytona. Take the experimental and new location race and make it the all star race in the summer. Better weather opens up more locations as options and revamps that event and they can make it a big event to promote and look forward to in the middle of the season when it starts to drag. Plus the name all star race kinda fits a with a big spectacle event

In my view, Australia should be looked at when it comes to moving the Clash internationally. There are a couple of reasons why Australia should be considered. One is that there are plenty of good quality tracks to host the Clash from Bathurst to the Surfers Paradise street circuit that Indycar raced at for many years. The other is that there is quite a large NASCAR fanbase in the country, many of whom became fans when Marcos Ambrose was racing in the Cup Series & stuck around. In addition, you would get a good number of fans from nearby New Zealand there supporting SVG. I am friends with a few Australian racing fans who have told me that they don't like the direction that the local series (Supercars) has gone in recent years & F1's Australian GP in Melbourne is way out of their price range, so they really want NASCAR to come to Australia and/or Indycar to return to fill the void. Lastly the weather in Australia in January/early February is great for the most part as it is their summer & would be a great tune up for the teams to get used to the heat.

Call me crazy… but shouldn’t this format be used on the championship weekend? You could move the championship anywhere, kind of like the Super Bowl, except it could also go international. The international market would help to draw more manufacturers. You would completely avoid the time crunch before Daytona. Have “the Clash” be the throwback, “the All-Star” would be the experimental race, and the Championship could introduce new markets, prestige, reduce dominance from teams that specialize at Phoenix and Homestead, and help the cup be determined by more than one race/heat.

To me, The Clash is LA and Bowman-Gray. The Shootout is Daytona. Speedweeks included the Shootout. Stop referencing that when someone won the Clash, it actually was the Shootout. This created a disconnect to me during the broadcast.

Why does it have to be at 1 track always? That's boring, I would much rather it be at a different track every year, that's way more exciting, the sport becomes stagnant when nothing changed, plus you allow the teams and drivers to become comfortable which you don't want, the drivers should be challenged, the best racing always happens when the drivers are uncomfortable, that's why I hate all the samey 1.5 mile tracks, yes those tracks are good now but just 4 years ago they were the worst tracks, the sport could change at anytime and the intermediates will probably once again be mediocre or bad, just look at the push to make short tracks more exciting, that could easily result in intermediates being bad again, there should be a good mix of short tracks, intermediates, super speedways, road courses and street circuits, there is just way too many intermediate races in Cup

If you want to have a clash. Instead of the middle east. They should go back to Daytona or go overseas to Japan. You have Toyota in the sport. Let them race in their country. Silverstone is also another choice. The NFL and MLB play in the UK. Why not NASCAR

The 2012 shootout was one of the best races ever, period. The road course even created a last lap battle and surprise winner. 2020 was awesome when Jones won with half a car. The only bad year was when a washed Jimmie Johnson wrecked the field and then rain came. Nothing beats Daytona, fans who think otherwise are just delusional.
