Does the Cowboys' Dak Prescott Belong in the MVP Discussion? | The Play Sheet

The Ringer’s Ben Solak runs through the tape of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who's having quite a bounce-back season after last year, when his interception rate was a career high. Dak and the Cowboys offense look dangerous this season, as Dak has elevated his play to sit comfortably alongside the league's other elite quarterbacks. I really love how Ben, despite having a ridiculous level of knowledge of routes, schemes, etc., still just loves seeing exciting stuff happen. I'm sure all the knowledge gives him extra appreciation for how rare plays like the ones he's seeing Dak make, but it can easily go the other way, where guys get so consumed with the mechanics of the game that they can't enjoy it. Love how he educates about the game, but love even more seeing him get excited about it.

Man these videos are so much better when it’s something Ben is excited about! I understand breaking down underperforming teams and players but Ben shines when he is talking about the great plays.

I love your breakdowns man. Fantastic blending of concepts and film with a little bit of analysis as well.

There's a lot of film nerds. But no one brings the excitement you brought here. Just genuine joy for good football

If Dak ever throws a seam ball to a tight end and it's incomplete it's a dropped pass and never an inaccurate ball

I'm so impressed with how Dak has progressed man, those first 3 or so years there were times where he looked a bit timid and scared to throw downfield, at least consistently. I'm fairly certain the turning point was 2019 when Jon Kitna came along as QB coach and if you know anything about Kitna's philosophy, he wants you to "just rip it". If the OC called the play and the first read is 20 yards down the field, rip it. Don't second guess it, just trust yourself, your teammates and your coaches that made the call and go for it. Kitna credits Mike Martz for being the one to correct his mindset on that during his playing days with the Lions. Everybody talks like he changed this year, but he didn't. He's been this guy. I think 2019 was the true pivotal year for him and he's just been getting incrementally better ever since. And look at my boy now, he's come so far.

Its funny because I didn't think Dak's high INTs last season was a huge deal if you look at his entire career. Plenty of paranoid Cowboys fans thought differently and this season he's having his personal best when it comes to finding guys under pressure and fitting tough throws into tight windows. Just like last season but things are working out let alone Lamb making a case for a top 5 WR with how they have fed him the ball. The playoffs may hold a different story but something about the players' side feels more decisive this season and the results show. Just hope they don't run into the Niners.

I think the difference is that his thumb is healed, he has more control of the offense, he is using his legs more and last but not least Mike McCarthy makes sure he always has multiple outlets for check downs

Dak missed that GW Seam against the Cardinals and has made the rest of the league pay for it 😂

This is how you know Ben is the truth. Eagle fan gassing up the play of a division rival. Makes me think he's trying to jinx him for the game Sunday lol

Hey may be a vocal Eagle fan, but the reason why he's the truth is because he's a vocal fan of *good* football. Hell if you listened to the pre-season predictions he had the Cowboys winning the NFC Championship this year.

Please do one on Justin Fields. I want the guy to succeed and you're voice on these topics helps define a lot of how people interpret how people are performing. If he's playing as well as my eyes say he's playing I want more people talking about it. If there is something I'm missing in the all 22 I want to know.

Sad part. Is that any real Cowboy fan only needed to do a simple Google search for his career stats. I have argued e More so called Cowboys fans on Cowboy videos...than i di w dudes who root for other teams
