Does The Holy Spirit Know The Day Or Hour In Mark

It is one of the verses which Muslims love to use. Yes, the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ both know the hour. 1 Corinthians 2:10 says, "these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God". Therefore, The Holy Spirit is God.

@MySilverDestiny I will explain to them that verses in both the Bible and The Quran are based on context. When Jesus Christ said that it is only the Father that knows the hour he means the human nature of Jesus Christ did not know the hour. The Holy Spirit was residing within Jesus Christ. However, other verses support the notion that both The Son and The Holy Spirit know the Hour.

​@@bigfan2452 If the Holy Spirit searches the deep things of God that means he doesn't know everything the Father knows. The bible says the same thing in psalms again, "deep calls unto deep." So it's really not an issue for the deity of Jesus if Jesus doesn't know the full extent of the Fathers plan because the Holy Spirit doesn't know the full extent of the Father either if the Spirit searches. Clearly the Holy Spirit wasn't made flesh so the deity of the Holy Spirit can't be questioned like Jesus like the cults do. So saying that secures the deity of Jesus since it's mirrored in the Holy Spirit. Basically we are talking about difference of relationship in the trinity, not difference in nature. The Father not fully revealing his plan. So whatever position a person takes whether it was because of the nature of Jesus at the time or not I don't see it as an issue for Christianity. In essence we are trying to use human defined constructs to box in the mysterious nature of the trinity which is impossible. It should be expected there will be areas that stay mysterious. We aren't even told the name on Jesus' thigh. I would equate this too one of those silly arguments can God create a rock so big he can't move it? This is difference in relationship, not nature is how I see it.

@dillonthompson5776 Read this verse. Mathew 11:27 says, "All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him". This means that Jesus Christ knows the Father and knows the Hour as simple as that.

@@bigfan2452 I don't think your case is that strong given we can cross reference several verses stating the opposite of TWO other persons of the trinity like I pointed out. The verse you gave just means we don't necessarily have a definitive answer either way. The take away though is falls within the mystery of the nature of the relationship of the fellowship of the trinity. Being one God, 3 persons, one person not knowing something another knows I personally don't think is a problem for their deity as they are still one anyways and it's a difference of relationship within that trinity. The knowledge is still there with the Father and they are one God. So it's really not an argument for the Christian cults against Jesus or the Holy Spirit not being God. That's how I feel anyways.

Textus Receptus on which is based KJV reads: ''No Man, even no Angel of heaven knows the hour but my FATHER'' (Matthew 24:36). If only the Father knows the hour, so do the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen because the Father and I are One, and The Helper The Spirit of Truth will teach everything which proceeds from the Father. So if the Father knows then the Son knows since he is one with the Father. The Holy Spirit proceeds and knows everything of the Father. It's so difficult.

As a greek i would like to say that in the ancient greek text (Mark 24:36 Περὶ δὲ τῆς ἡμέρας ἐκείνης καὶ ὥρας οὐδεὶς οἶδεν, οὐδὲ οἱ ἄγγελοι τῶν οὐρανῶν, εἰ μὴ ὁ πατήρ μου μόνος) it does not say the ''nor the Son'' part. From the ancient greek translates as following: As for that day and that hour, not one/no one/nobody(οὐδεὶς) knows/has knowledge, not the angels of the heaven, but only my father. I would like to emphasize again that it does not say in the ancient greek that nor the son knows or anything like that. I appreciate your work. God bless

as a Greek you need to study the manuscripts since the phrase nor the Son is a reading found in many of the Greek copies of Matthew, and it is found in Mark 13:32.

I brought this topic, and I told him that Jesus and the Holy Spirit knows everything they don't hide nothing from each other and knows everything, and that they know the day I told him that Jesus wasn't to themselves Him and the Holy Spirit when He said that. But my friend answer me and said that know that the Bible doesn't teach or say such thing that even Jesus doesn't know the day.

There is a massive error that most everyone makes regarding this passage. When Christ made that statement, He used the present tense. But everyone interprets it as though He used the future tense. If Christ had meant us, (in the future in regard to the timing of His statement), to understand that no man WILL know the day or the hour then He would have used the future tense, or at least include some word expressing ability. He didn't. Everyone quotes this passage as though we cannot know, and that's untrue. Notice He said, "No one knows...", NOT "No one can know...", nor "No one will know". The tense and words He used correctly expressed a fact that was true during His ministry. But that tense has passed. And He made no such statement about us. Anyone that doesn't get just how specific God is in His dealings with us has much to learn.

First of all... Why should Jesus reveal the hour.... When he said he will come like a Thief in the night. If he would reveal. The mankind can prepare. That's why he said it was appointed to the Father. Again the disciples ask it again during the accession . And he plainly says .. it is not for you to know the day and the hour. Acts 1:5-8 And also how come he will not know..when he is the one to come.

Because Jesus incarnated in human form is limited in his human nature, so he cannot know everything including the time because no human can know everything. Especially all divine knowledge which requires an unlimited mind. Once he was respected and raised back up into heaven, he was no longer restricted in his human nature anymore and he regained all the prior knowledge that he gave up when he became flesh.

So Jesus as human would also be included as well when it says no one knows! Who is the Son? Third thing is if the Holy Spirit is God himself then it wouldn't make sense to know the mind of God as if the Holy Spirit would know the mind of someone else as supposed to himself!
