A small, unsolicited loss prevention tip from an underwriter, if you care: ATM thefts have been increasing over the last few years and that ATM right by the from window is the absolute perfect target; I've seen many claims where thieves take a truck and chain, break the window, tie the chain to the ATM and drive off. While they don't always get the ATM (when it's properly bolted down), it would likely cause a lot of damage to the building itself. If you can, I would recommend moving it to the back of the building (away from windows) to discourage thieves from trying to take the ATM.

Just for clarity since he never answers the question: In approx. 5 days he pulls $565 in quarters which is about $2,260/month and if we assume (it's not said) that the bill collection is also for a 5 day period then the laundromat all included pulls $1,157 per week or $5,785 per month, minus the amount of coins and bills fed back into the coin and bill changing machine and minus any repair needed on any machine.
@eventhisidistaken4 жыл бұрын
...and minus the rent he pays on the building, and water and electricity costs, and the costs of the sodas and snacks and soap etc., and insurance costs, etc. Most of the quarters are actually his initial quarter investment from the change machine, that he puts right back into the change machine. The right way to do the math on this, is to count only the coins (except from the snack machines). He didn't make any money off the bill changer, so the bills put in, equal the quarters taken out. Really then, it's about maybe $650 in revenue total per week. Maybe half of that is profit? ~at most around $1200/month of profit. You would need a bunch of laundromats like this to make a decent living off it.

At a first glance, it looks like he's making a fair amount of money, however, if you were take into account the amount of electricity it takes to run the building, the electricity, the water, as well as the cost of upkeep and repairs for the washers/driers and the the cost of refilling the vending machines, as well as any other costs I'm missing for running a business, insurance on machines and the building; all these costs really even out the money that he makes. In fact, I'm willing to bet that, some weeks, he's at a lost in profit.

Actually you would most machines like that don't actually use that much electricity and bulk buying for the vending machines will always net profit even if it isn't much, and he does these collections every 5 days or so and make decent amounts each time, id say depending on the insurance and rent he should be making a decent money not including his KZbin revenue

The numbers get thrown off because the quarters from the exchange machine should only be counted once, but in this case are counted twice. For example, someone puts $10 in the exchange machine and uses the quarters in a washer. He'll count the $10 in the exchange machine, and $10 in the washer but he didn't make $20. So he should count the quarter haul MINUS the amount of quarters in the exchange machine.
