The center of gravitiy is too high and/or the width ist too small: The model will capsize as all models with this weakness are doing. You need to lower the enter by gravitiy by using a keel as done for sailing yachts. With this additional weight the model will be to heavy and sinks. My answer: No, the model doesn't float.

My father always said that the Titanic might have been kept afloat for longer, if some weighted tarpaulin sheets could have been draped over the side where the damage was. They might have stemmed the leaking seams sufficiently to allow the pumps to keep the boat afloat until help arrived. Similarly, some cling film around the Lego Hull would have helped!!!
@janetpendlebury68083 жыл бұрын
I dont think any amount of tarpaulins would have done any good. When the ship hit the iceberg it created a 300-foot-long line of damage on the starboard section of the hull, including punctures and gashes, that opened up too many compartments to the sea, the weight of the water dragged the bow down so low that the ship eventually sank. If it had more lifeboats many more people could have been saved.
@ReverendFather_UncleRuckus3 жыл бұрын
@@janetpendlebury6808 if the titanic hit the iceberg directly it might have been able to stay afloat. Also if the didn't stop and reverse the engines and keep the same speed and just turned the rutter it's possible that it could have avoided the iceberg completely.

You need those lego boat weights. I have like 3 or 4 of them. They used to come with boat models in the 80s. I bet if you added 4 of those weights to the bottom..it would float.
@pieterboelen28623 жыл бұрын
Exactly my thinking. Just some really heavy weight down below as ballast and she should be fine. Real ship would've had fuel compartments down below; and use much lighter materials on the superstructure. That's how they prevent capsizing. Still, clearly she DOES float. As basically all LEGO must. Has to be difficult to make something that actually stays steadily *below* the water.

@Cleptro Жыл бұрын
I wonder what might happen if you were to remove some of the supporting structures in Boat, A, and B Deck? Obviously the model is top heavy, but the keel of the vessel SHOULD be wide enough to keep her stable as long as the weight matches, she is actually wider to her length and height to her historical namesake. Something to consider, for sure! I'd test it myself, but I don't have a pool :P
@guleri3 жыл бұрын
I think you should do more "Will it float" videos with Lego ships as they come out. If you have them there are some Creator ships that could be tested too. We know the boats made from the pre-cast hulls will float (like the big exploration ship you started with) but it is still interesting to see if the builds will stay the right way in the water. And then you have tons of other boats in various series that could be tested.
