Does the Quran Include The Ten Commandments? | Dr. Shabir Ally

Let the Quran Speak

Күн бұрын

A viewer expressed doubt that the #Quran includes The Ten Commandments. Dr. Shabir Ally explains that the #Bible gives us a list of commandments in two main passages in Exodus Chapter 20 and in Deuteronomy Chapter 5. Scholars of the Bible tried to decipher ten commandments out of this. But the lists vary from one scholar to another depending on where they stop one commandment and start the other one. Sometimes things are combined. The Quran includes The Ten Commandments in 6:151-153 and in chapter 17, starting with verse 23. There are two exceptions, which Dr. #ShabirAlly points out in this video.

Salam guys . I’ve often commented on your videos . I have some news 🙋‍♀️ I took my shahada three weeks ago now and have accepted Islam . My decision was of course not just based on your videos but they were a great source of information to me so thankyou. It’s been a long journey for me my ultimate goal was and is to serve God and devote my life . I found that I could do that best in Islam . I am not turning against anything or anyone I’m simply following the convictions I could no longer ignore in my heart and mind. I’m a European white woman (not that it matters) and am compelled to say my decision was in no way influenced by or for anyone else . My journey was done in private to the point I didn’t even have discussions with anyone until the end of my journey before I said shahada . It’s not easy to begin a new journey but the peace I have is something I’ve never experienced before

Quranic reference to the ten commandments can be found in chapter 2 verses 83 and 84 "And [recall] when We took the covenant from the Children of Israel, [enjoining upon them], "Do not worship except Allah (1) ; and to parents do good (2) and to relatives (3), orphans (4), and the needy (5). And speak to people good words (6) and establish prayer (7) and give Zakat (8)." Then you turned away, except a few of you, and you were refusing." "And [recall] when We took your covenant, [saying], "Do not shed each other's blood (9) or evict one another from your homes (10)." Then you acknowledged [this] while you were witnessing.. Informative upload - obviously, if The Qur'an comes from the God of Abraham and the previous and subsequent Biblical prophets, then it's a given that The Ten Commandments have to be followed as they were prescribed by God to the Children of Israel (as they) are not specific to any particular time, age or race but for all believers until the Second Coming of Jesus. Let me say this though: when Jesus was asked which of The Commandments is the most important, he replied to love The Lord your God with all your mind, heart soul and strength and to love your neighbour as yourself; all of the prophets (the message they were bringing) and The Law hang on these two Commandments. Jesus's coming fulfilled The Law but we are still called to obeyance of The Ten Commandments, because, these are not localised laws for the Jews at a specific point in history but universal Law(s) for all believers in the one true God of Abraham.

Shabir says the bible doesn't explicitly mention "10 commandments". He is lying or ignorant. It does: Exo 34:28: "²⁸ And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And He wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments."

Because Mohammed wanted to distance himself from the Jews when things didn’t go as smoothly as he had hoped for. First Mo instructed the Saturday observance as well, but when the Jews rejected him as a prophet (rightfully, because he was a obvious fraud) he changed his mind and picked the Friday.

All due respect to saffiyya and Dr Shabir, we know the commandments are from Mosses, thousands of years ago. We can give many descriptions but what are the ten commandments? To evaluate any social order we need to analyse the structure of that period. A Large part of the jewish and pagan faith were a travelling community. Laws were needed that could be applied in settler and traveller communities. It is not possible to have a prison in the travelling society to sentence an offender to prison for any length of time. There were no prisons for the wandering nomads. So the punishments were on the spot penalties. Floggin, beating and chopping parts of body off were the norm. In this way the traveller community could keep on moving. These were the same rules for all travelling people like the native south Americans, the eskimos and the Asian Gypsies. The problem with these rules is that one cannot undo the punishments. If one is not guilty for theft, we cannot stitch his chopped hand back to his arm. Same with flogging, we cannot unflog some one. Again cannot return some ones chopped head. These traveller out dated commandments should not form part of modern society. We have prisons now and can have imprisoment to serve as a punishment. Stoning to death is not justice. It is debatable these rules that served the needs of that community were rules of the leader Moses or God. Its a fact they were centuries before Prophet Muhammad and can say not for our community. These are Jewish laws, not Islamic. Reseach by Maz Shah.

The Bible does speak of the ten commandments. Exodus 34:28 Moses was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant-the Ten words/commandments. Deuteronomy 4:13 He declared to you his covenant, the Ten words/Commandments, which he commanded you to follow and then wrote them on two stone tablets.

Yes, we believe that God imposed the Sabbath on the Children of Israel and forbade them to work on it at all, and that is a punishment for their stubbornness. He also prohibited them from the fat of clean animals and other things. And God came with Islam in order to free the People of the Book from all these shackles see the beauty of the description (Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered prophet, whom they find written [i.e., described] in what they have of the Torah and the Gospel, who enjoins upon them what is right and prohibits them from what is wrong and makes lawful for them what is good and forbids them from what is evil and relieves them of their burden1 and the shackles which were upon them.2 So they who have believed in him, honored him, supported him and followed the light which was sent down with him - it is those who will be the successful.)

Whether we engage in several hours of belief. There is channel called Supreme Yogi, and another one great channels called Let's talk religion. From hermeticism, Neoplatonism, abrahamics, dharmic, African folk, aztec beliefs all Believe in one supreme universal god, but all these traditions differ in content due to time, culture, language, racial differences. Hindus also believe in one universal god, but ascribe images and idols due to their unity of existence, nonduality creed believing God cannot be fathomed at all and he is known only by saying god is not this or that, yet god is experienced only by inner experience, they say god is known as Sat-chit-Ananda( infinite existence-bliss-consciousness), You can see all creatures desire Satchitananda because he is their very and his essence is everywhere, creations are created from his image which is consciousness, since god is whole, impartial, his whole image is seen everywhere in creation as holons. Holons are (wholes and parts). Human is whole and part at same. Yet god is only whole, one, undivided reality. God can divide himself, since he is all-powerful, unlimited, he can assume any form, actually he does, he is assuming us all. The enlightened ones like Jesus, Buddha, Mahavera, and countless others have found god within themselves, uniting with him after realizing him in themselves, they dissolving their egos and impurities after strict fasting and meditation which led to the death of them, they were reborn and became god, their actions and words are godly, the godhead assumed them and spoke through their bodies. Islam believes God doesn't assume his servants, because that's literally shirk(polytheism), they become associates with god. Its true, but our explanation everything is illusion, how can they associate with god if they are all god, acting and assuming everyone and blinding them from realizing they are him and literally the characters(them) die out and real remains?!

The Bible goes further than the Quran could ever go on morality. Be honest. Is there an equivalent Quranic verse for “Love your neighbor like yourself” not because he’s Muslim, Jew, or Christiani?
@omarn7650
@omarn7650 3 жыл бұрын
There is a verse in the Quran which states that Allah does not prohibit the muslims from treating those who do not kill you or attack you (i.e. the Passive non-muslims) This verse came down after one of the early muslim women (the daughter of Abu Bakr) wanted to accept her own mother into her home; however, her mother was a pagan. She asked the prophet Muhammad (saw) about if she should allow her mother to enter, and the Prophet (saw) received revelation saying that God allows the muslims to treat the passive disbelievers kindly.

@@omarn7650 I know you’re not serious using those verses as the equivalent of “loving your neighbor like yourself”. The ones you’re providing are forcing you to resort to mental gymnastics and theatrical inventions in order to make them say something they’re not saying. Not exactly correct. The Ten Commandments are mentioned explicitly in Exodus 34:28 as written on the stone tablets that were kept in the Ark of the Covenant. They were also thundered down at the people of Israel by the voice of God himself in Exodus 20:18-19. The Commandments also explicitly state that there is no other God than Yahweh, the God of Israel - the very name is different from that of the god of the Muslims, just as the Old Covenant and the Priesthood and the religious festivals are also different. To say that Moses was a Muslim is a fanciful invention.

Well he was technically muslim as by the definition of what a muslim is: one who submits to the will of God. And Moses submitted to the will of God. Remember, unlike 'Christian' or 'Jew', the words Muslim and Islam have actual linguistic definitions which is compatible with every prophet. They didn't literally say 'Muslimun' (or maybe they did if Aramaic changed overtime but that is not the point). Look, let me give you an example with another word. Christian Arabs will use the word Allah to refer to God, because it is a definition, it is an Arabic word. Allah is mentioned in the Bible when in Arabic. And I told you before, the disciples said they were muslims (those who submit) in THEIR LANGUAGES. Many western Christians fail to understand this because they are limited to western European and American perception. Any Arab, Greek, or semetic speaker who understand how languages work and are more cultured, would understand this. It is so simple, please do not make this 'Mental Gymnastics'.

@@geralddean673 Yes, Friday is a special day for Muslims, and it includes Friday prayers, the weekly sermon, and the reading of Surat Al-Kahf And there is a greater opportunity for God to answer our prayers, as it is the greatest day of the week

No, Quran is the mainbook. Majority of Muslims do not even know what is in the bible or torah. They only that they were books of god, revealed for followers of previous prophets, and Koran, a new and final message, confirming the old, removing much of unncessary practices and observations as well as objections to the sister monotheistic religions. Only scholarly evanglical Muslims like Shabbir ally knows. Most didnt read them at all just like most christians and Jews have never read quran or have no knowledge of them

The 10 commandments are a good start. They are not to change. Most people have already problems to follow them. God is Universal Creation. God isnt a creator or a entity. Just be good and do good.

“for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; to declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭3:23-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬
