Maybe it should be called SIMULATED Symmetrical AWD 😊

does the EV motor have a differential built into the motor? I have no idea how that works. I do have a Solterra, you can't see anything underneath.

It must, but there’s hardly any info out there about it. Are you enjoying your Solterra so far? I’ve only driven one a few miles.

@@75sti75 we love it! we just hit 1,000 miles on ours. it has become our daily driver for everything and our other Subaru will get driven less but we'll keep them around. Ascent for family road trips and Supercharged Outback for project car.

I picked up a Touring a few days ago and so far loving it too, but it's doing this weird thing where it charges past the rated max 222 mi range... all the way up to 300mi before it hits 100% and stops charging. This is 80mi or about 25% more than what it's rated for and I can't seem to find any answers as to what this means. Does your Solterra charge past 222mi too?
@75sti75 Жыл бұрын
@@Locke-k7x the range is determined by what systems are running. Subaru rated their 220 ish range based on having climate control and other systems turned on. You'll notice your range decrease if you turn on other systems.

@@Locke-k7x Sometimes I will see 250 if climate control is entirely off.

There really isn’t anything Toyota about this. And the 20% is a very small margin but perhaps Toyota is needing to learn how to incorporate a better all wheel drive system in their RAV4

I think it’s obvious the Solterra is just a Toyota with Subaru badging. Toyota, who owns 20% of Subaru, is calling the shots and making the engineering decisions. Subaru is just using their terminology for Toyota features. So fundamentally it is not the same AWD system.

The electric drives should be more effective, less drivetrain lag. The controls are all software. Subaru software is probably customized to feel more subaru.
