As a lifelong AC/DC fan I can say I enjoy it. It’s a typical mid 80s pop metal album from the boys. Granted, it’s no Back In Black, but a fun romp nonetheless. I love this series of yours Larry! Well done. Cheers 🍻

This is typical mid to late 80s ACDC. Personally, I definitely don't think this album sucks but its also no where near the ballpark of Back in Black. 5.5/10. Sink the Pink is my pick for best song and song title😉 Good analysis Larry.

The only thing I remember about Fly On The Wall was a long-form video that MTV played back in the day. The video consisted of five songs from the album and showed the band playing in a bar. Shake Your Foundations was the last song in the video and it showed the band playing so loud, the building collapsed but they were still playing afterwards. That's all I can remember.

AC/DC is one of my favourite bands along with Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Judas Priest so you might take my opinion with a grain of salt. For me AC/DC doesn’t have a bad album, although Fly On the Wall would be near the bottom but not last. I suppose listening to the Rascals isn’t the best preparation for rating an AC/DC album. 😊

AC/DC without Bon Scott is like M*A*S*H without Henry Blake and Trapper. It's vaguely similar, but it's not the real thing.
@SecretAgentPaul9 ай бұрын
And I'll take it one step further to say that anything without George Young and Harry Vanda, isn't pure AC/DC. They were the real 4th and 5th members of the band.

I’ve always liked this album. I thought maybe I was confused. So I paused your video for 40 minutes and listened to the entire album again. I still really like it. The production isn’t good, especially the vocals. But for me this album is the Malcom and Angus show. It’s all about the guitars. Not in my top 5 AC/DC albums, but not even close to a suck album for me. Amongst AC/DC fans it is often considered a vey underrated album.

I think it's an" In Through The Outdoor" Situation. It's a good album, but it just doesn;t stand up to the quality of the rest of the catalogue. I hated it when I first heard it, it was a big disappointment and I put it away. When I revisited it a year or two later I appreciated it more. It sounds forced but it has its moments.
@llewellynGS19 ай бұрын
In through the outdoor? Actually it's my favourite Led Zeppelin album.... I know, Im unusual. But, I was 14 when it came out, and it seemed at the time musically even ahead of its time. Love the variety and production of it - but I can see how hardcore fans would have been disappointed.

@mauriceharvey43009 ай бұрын
Got it when it was first released, didn't go much on it at all. It sounded a bit tired, the standard of the songs were below par almost like they had run out of ideas. In their defense they were touring an awful lot at that time. The year before (1984) they were headlining the big Monsters Of Rock festivals, etc. so maybe they had run out of energy and songs when it came time to record this album. I have to agree though, for AC/DC it is a bit sucky!
@tomlangley62369 ай бұрын
It could be a good album if it had the right producer. The sound, the pace, and mixing is all over the place. Angus and Malcolm self produced it, they shoulda hired Mutt Lang to do it as they did on Highway to Hell and Back in Black.

Flick Of The Switch is a far better album considering other post Back In Black 80’s albums like this stinkfest. This album seems phoned in. The title blows. Well below their previous standards for songs. Take care!
@geotechmore88559 ай бұрын
Flick Of The Switch is a fantastic album. ACDC strips their sound and does a raw rOcK 'n rOlL album and it rocks. The album didn't sell that well so the record company pressured ACDC to do a more commercial album thus Fly On The Wall which is the new album. Phill Rudd had a drug problem and couldn't play drums on the Fly On The Wall album. Thus the drums weren't that good on Fly On The Wall. But yeah.. Flick Of The Switch.. Great album.

"Shake Your Foundations" and "Sink The Pink" are pretty good to me. And the mini video album that AC/DC made for this is fun, with the animated fly. But, I'd rather listen to Miley Cyrus' "Fly On The Wall" song. 😊😄🤣🤣

It was the first studio album I owned by them, and I still like it. I'd gotten Who Made Who before that, which had 2 songs from FOTW on it. So I was familiar with them already. Blow Up Your Video is another one from that era I probably like more than most people do.

There is a similar series that you might have seen by Cactus Malpractice called “Worst Album Ever Made” where he goes through all of the bad albums and tries to find the worst one. If you haven’t seen it you should check it out. P.S. Fly On the Wall doesn’t suck but the production and the instrumentation is awful.

As far as ACDC albums goes this one is lower level ACDC. That being said I still enjoy a few tracks. The reason why this album isn't that good is because there is no Phil Rudd on drums or Chris Slade on drums. Phil Rudd played drums on the Back In Black album, For Those About To Rock album and all those classic Bonn Scott albums like Highway To Hell. He also plays drums on the newest album Power Up.. Awesome album! Chris Slade plays drums on songs like Thunderstruck and Razors Edge. Chris is an awesome drummer. Neither Phil Rudd nor Chris Slade play drums on Fly On The Wall. Thus the drums sound is not as great. Also the record company wanted ACDC to go a bit more commercial on this album. This is another reason why this album is so so. The previous album Flick Of The Switch is better and less commercial. I think the newest album Power Up is actually fantastic. Phil Rudd on drums.

During the Brian Johnson years they got in quite a rut after 1981. They got really repetitive and it was obvious they were just going through the motions until they cut back on the booze and drugs. My favorite AC/DC stuff is the Bon Scott era stuff. When this was new it was a huge disappointment to me.

Black Ice was better than this. And even Black Ice was terrible. Acdc are iconic and are a good band, don't get me wrong. But alot of their songs "Thunderstruck, Back In Black, Highway To Hell, For Those about to Rock" are so over played. Even local bands play either one of those 4 songs and it gets to a point where the songs get annoying over time. Acdc unfortunately have also fallen into the trap of repetitive sound. It doesn't matter if it's early or late albums and songs. They all just sound the same. Like with Bruce Springsteen and The Beach Boys
@dominicsdailyvlogs1787 ай бұрын
Black ice is literally one of their best albums. The hell are you talking about?

There are some valid issues with the album but really analyzing it so far out of the context in which it was made for isn't fair. Cranked up on a road trip as you're nearing a party. Cranked up in a simi truck driving through the seedy part of a city at night. Thats where it wants to live.

There are bands we all love or hate. AC/DC are one of the most unimanigative "artists" in all of rock. Stumbled upon a formula and just repeated it on every album that followed. Plus two of the worst singers in rock and roll history. Also, an arrogant guitarist who loves to slag all of his contempoaries. And still wearing a schoolboy outfit in his mid to late 70s. Just go away already. Do you want to know how I really feel, lol?
@tdunph42509 ай бұрын
Let me guess, your within the small minority of people who feel Highway to Hell and Back in Black are overrated and over played right? 🤣🤡
@dennislind84119 ай бұрын
@tdunph4250 I guess so. Definitely overplayed. Overated would be a matter of personal taste in music. My take would be that they are not considered by me to be an evolving musical artist but rather, a band that created a successful formula and have produced similar if not basically identical content for the 40 some odd years that followed. There is obviously a huge market for this, it's just not what I look for in music.. I realize I'm in a minority opinion here.
