There are 3 of these "hated albuns" that I absolutely love: "Press to Play", "The Elder" and "Undercover"
@BayouMaccabee27 күн бұрын
Hey Larry, Happy New Year! I vote for: Jethro Tull The Doors Red Hot Chili Peppers And for my additional recommendation, I suggest: Primus - "Primus & The Chocolate Factory", which is their crazy adaptation of the Willy Wonka movie soundtrack. I have been a big Primus fan ever since their very first album, and I own a copy of every album (some on both CD and vinyl formats), but it really pains me to say that this one album from their catalog is unbelievably awful, and absolutely painful to get through. If you choose it...best of luck. I know for certain that your reaction to this abomination will be COMEDY GOLD. 😂

My votes: American Dream, MIU Album, and the Bob Dylan. I think ELO's Secret Messages is great, but the followup Balance of Power is not very good so I'd add that one.

The Elder, Under Wraps, It's Hard are my three choices. As for an unlisted choice, how about Ozzmosis by Ozzy Osbourne? It's not one of his more popular albums, and it's possible that you've never heard anything from it beyond the one radio hit, "Perry Mason". Happy New Year man!

Red Hot Chili Peppers - One Hot Minute (In my opinion, I think its quite underrated just disappointing compared to the other stuff they did in the 90s) Rolling Stones - Undercover The Who - It's Hard I'd recommend doing a video on Radioheads - The King Of Limbs

The Beach Boys M.I.U Album is a good choice. I actually like it, but a lot of people don't. I'd be interested to hear your verdict on whether it sucks or not.
@kjellmand710327 күн бұрын
The problem with ELO Secret Messages is that it was supposed to be a double album. Some really good and interesting songs were taken off to make it a single album. It was released again as a double album a few years ago. I do have it on a japanese official cd in its original conceived double album format minus one song that Jeff Lynne later had regrets about. Overall not a bad album. It just works better as a double than a single album. Out Of Reach by Can is an unlistenable album for me and many others and even the band dismisses that album. Hypothesis by Vangelis is another unlistenable album, at least for my ears. But I don't know if it is considered a bad album. There are lots of albums considered bad that I personally love. And there are lots of classic albums on pedestals that most people love but I don't. I would get shot if I were to mention any.

I think Secret Messages does contain some unique songs by Jeff. Loser Gone Wild, Take Me On and On, No Way Out, Letter From Spain have a slightly different approach although automatically you know it's ELO. The album does lose steam in places and it's not bombastic like all the other ELO albums but somehow it is one ELO album i play a lot. Because i had no idea about this album until the mid 90's when i was a teenager and Brit Pop was the thing. I had saved my pocket money and bought this album and brought it home, pressed play expecting to love it immediately and couldn't believe what i was hearing lol. Initially i felt disappointed by my hero Jeff Lynne for the first and only time. But i did play the hell out of that CD. There are a few tracks that i am not crazy about but i wished with the double he had put Beatles Forever on it. I don't think it's the best song he's ever written but i don't think it's the worst. It was supposed to be in the middle of side two inbetween No Way Out and Letter From Spain and i think it could've done with that over the top Beatles fan boy track in the middle. It's an odd album in their discography. A mixture of good and ok tracks. Bravo to anyone who read all this by the way lol

My three choices are: - ELO - The Who - KISS But none of these three sucks for me! Suggestion: The Stranglers "The Gospel According to the Meninblack" (Concept album, 1981) Although i am a fan of them, i cannot say, if i love or "hate" this album.

I’d say ‘Full Circle’ so you have an excuse to go back to that album and see that it’s pretty decent. Half of it’s really good and shows some of the cool directions that The Doors could’ve have gone to if they continued. The other half is not great, but at least listenable.

As a kiss fan, I genuinely don't think that THE ELDER from 1981 is a bad album. It's an album out of character of kiss, yet something that has elements that, in my opinion, are brilliant. The musicianship is incredible and bob ezrin's production gives it a full sound. I'd be really interested to hear your honest opinion of this album, especially if you hear it without thinking of it as a kiss album.

I find the RS’s Undercover to be just too lyrically aggressive to enjoy - some good tracks for sure, but not their finest hour. It’s Hard (The Who) for me is an album where half the songs are pretty decent and even pretty good and the other half not so good. Face Dances was better.

At 9:45 PM, when I am about to go to bed, I watch this video. OMG! Everything here is a nightmare, except Abbey Road & DSOTM. Now I'm gonna have nightmares, but I'll take the M.I.U Album to be the worst. Actually, it is easy listening music, nowhere close to what a real Beach Boys album should sound like. Your parents' or grandparents' cocktail music. It sucks.

The Who "It's Hard" The Rolling Stones "Undercover" KISS "The Elder" The shocking disappointing album last year for pop fans, was Katy Perry's "413" album. But, you wouldn't like it, anyway. The second Katy Perry studio album which I didn't buy. Another disappointing pop album from last year, was Camila Cabello's "C,XOXO". Unfortunately, I did buy that.

Caress of Steel and One Hot Minute are both ok album. Easy 6/10s. Not sure they’d even be interesting to cover in this series. Then again, I also love Fly On the Wall so maybe my taste is wonky. My recommendations are… Kiss - Music from the Elder. Ambitious but horribly misguided. Felt like jocks trying to do nerd music lol. Weezer - Raditude. Tragically awful. Look up Rivers Cuomos’ solo version of “Can’t Stop Partying” after to get a better idea of how that album or at least that song was supposed to be. CSNY - American Dream. Just not good.
