I recently did a bow only challenge run and Ansbach bow was the star, naturally. You can craft bleed arrows if you kill the imprisoned merchant for infinite blood roses and the bone bearing bell hunter. Make no mistake, its a brutal challenge, but beating PCR with a bow only was one of the hardest things ive ever done in a video game and very satisfying. Also, while normally NPC fights are nearly impossible with a standard bow, a greatbow like Golems or Radahn makes them piss easy. Funnily enough, greatbows get stupid strong with minimal set up. 2 arrow talismans + the free aim talisman, a golden greatarrow aura buff, and the Through and Through AOW with alexander shard will 3 shot the divine lion guards in Imir illem with a 40/40 STR/SKL setup.

I'm doing a bow run now, just got to PCR (playing on the 1st version of the dlc, no nerfs). Did the exact same thing to get bleed arrows. Poor merchant had no business being behind a sanguine noble.

I was using the obsidian lamina against my friend last night for some one on one coliseum pvp and I found it a little bit awkward, especially the ash of war. His armor made me really squishy and I couldn’t figure out a great way to use the ash of war. Haven’t tried it much in PvE so not sure how I would like it there.

The grave scythe is one of the best sleeper weapons in the game. Set to a strength scaling and using bloodflame blade it hits like an actual truck and is faster than a great sword. Also the Ansbach bow is like one of the best weapons in the game as well. You could have killed the Putrescent Knight with it pretty easily actually.

As a spell enjoyer, you were entirely right about Furious Blade being a bad spell. It has very little going for it, even just being compared to other bleed spells. Want a melee spell? Just use the bloodflame talons. That's not even that good of a spell but it's still better in most ways than Furious Blade. Bloodboon actually has range, so does Swarm of Flies, and Bloodflame Blade is one of the best weapon buffs in the game which turns your weapon into a better Furious Blade.

I agree it isnt that great but tbf he wasn't using Dragon Communion Seal which has much better scaling if you're an Arcane or Arcane/Faith build. Furious Blade has good distance in the charge up, good blood build up and it can be buffed by Godfrey's Icon. Add Flame Shrouded Cracked Tear and you've actually got pretty solid damage. The giant near Godrick's arena is bled out with one fully charged Furious Blade whereas you need 4 Bloodflame Talons to get the bleed. Uncharged it does around 100 more damage than Talon and charged it does around 700 more damage, and of course unlike Blood Talon you don't need to be hugging them to hit them. Also Furious Blade triggers consecutive hits Talismans but I don't bother myself.
