Never be "more KZbin" Quinn! Your channel is an oasis of common sense and relatability in an almost endless desert of flashy hysteria. Your content has helped me immensely, and especially the way you present it makes it so much nicer to take in. No "fancy" cuts and needless motion, no distracting music over your talking, just all the things that are actually relevant. You're the KZbin star we need :) Thank you.

I appreciate that! I said a little while back that I'd try out "Be More KZbin" ideas if I thought they might fit in. This was such an experiment, so we'll see how it goes down👍
@systemfive77 ай бұрын
@@Autistamatic Ah well, I missed that context. A bit of experimentation is always good, and the new lighting setup looks good. But all in all, I think it's YOU we're all here for, so really, as long as that sticks, it's the most important thing.

Enjoy the conference, I have no doubt you'll be great. I'm a big fan of both the Daily Tism and Joe Wells.
@Autistamatic7 ай бұрын
Thank you. I'd love to see both Joe and the Tism enjoy mainstream success, not only because I like to see talent gain the appreciation it deserves, but because I personally feel that humour like theirs is important in making the neurodiverse world we dream of a reality.

I only just discovered your videos recently, have really enjoyed watching them, love your calm, frank and open approach ❤ I was diagnosed as autistic last month at age 52, and ADHD last year. Videos like yours are helping so much in working through everything this has thrown up, both good and bad. Thank you ❤

I'm glad you're finding it useful. It's a bit annoying to think it took me 50 years and so many failures to finally find something worthwhile to do with myself, but better late than never, eh?;😉

I enjoyed this video, Quinn. I watch quite a bit of youtube, so I notice where you are making small adjustments to your presentation. It's subtle and stays within your comforting style. I think you are very observant and will do well. On the subject of the words of encouragement you received- I think, as autists, we have a deep drive to give other autists the compassion and understanding that was lacking in our own lives during times of struggle. As a community, we recognize pain in eachother and try to heal those wounds. You have done so much for us, so we do what we can for you in the form of a comment. It always shocks me when people say we aren't empathetic or don't have empathy. I've only just begun to explore the autistic community, and I find myself surrounded by nothing but empathy and kindness. It took me aback too, at first- because I'm not used to receiving that kind of empathy. Isn't it strange that they say we lack empathy, and yet we often feel we haven't been shown empathy by many neurotypicals in the first place? Likely a side effect of the double empathy problem? Apologies for the monolog-you always get me thinking.
@Autistamatic7 ай бұрын
If my recent experiences are anything to go by, there is a deep well of compassion within this community which has been stifled for years by social stigma and practical disconnection. Thanks for commenting & monologues are welcome 😊

Thanks. I don't know if "rough patch" is quite how I'd describe it - at least I HOPE I don't end up calling it that. We've only just come out the other side of the last bout of "valuable life experience" and are overdue a period of "dull as dishwater" life.

I think there must be about 300 bonus points still unclaimed on previous videos. They're more than just jokes & opportunities to earn middle-aged-nerd points, but maybe I'm just kidding myself. Maybe I'll just never get round to the big reveal so I can carry on being silly in the belief it has a purpose...🤔

Does your patreon have a Discord? I understand if not, it takes volunteer time to moderate one but I always try to join discords related to autism content. I make sure to share your content in my other discords as well because i want people to see and normalize older autistic folks like ourselves. Our needs and concerns often diverge, at some point, from the concerns of a teen or young adult just beginning to explore life's possibilities - and quite frankly i am relieved when your videos come out for a fresh, real, and grown up perspective. The daily tism tickled me. I am happy to see my sense of humor reflected there.

Hi. There's no Discord as yet. TBH I'm only just looking into it and moderating it is potentially a sticking point, though not insurmountable. I'm glad you enjoy the Daily Tism too. It's one of those sites which I daren't drink a cuppa whilst reading!
