I know!!! I remember one time I was playing and I wasn't sure if they had a hog. Well as soon as I got hooked my best friend's uncle slipped out of me!!! They should have done a character every season. So they slowly roll out character arks like add one or two charctors with there skill tree at a time and build up each charctors story then go into main event when all the characters are all in. So they don't have to make one full game at once and we still get what they promised but I have no idea where they were going with the story. Character origin missions would have been cool though.

I tried to be optimistic for so long. As a person, I tend to view video games as an art medium with a history and a future worth giving a shit about. For this reason I never fully gave up on Blizzard. After all in a time not too long ago they were mentioned in the same breath as Valve as one of the most beloved and influential game companies on the market. Even through Covid and the scandals, I still didn’t give up hope because I knew that some good people like Aaron Keller still worked there. To be clear it’s the suits and higher ups who pulled the trigger, not Team 4, they are just the ones caught in the crossfire of the decision. I also didn’t want to give up because well, I love Overwatch. It is the most fun I ever had in a shooter. Period. And I do deeply care about it’s story, characters, and lore, and it’s for that reason this is all so heartbreaking. I mean what wasted potential. For 4-5 years the primary excuse for why Overwatch 1 and even currently Overwatch 2 are in such a state was because the main team was busy on the replayable PvE story mode this world, these characters, deserve. That was the copium we all huffed. But now we know that not only was it all for nothing, they lied. It’s important to note that PvE wasn’t cancelled a week ago and they are breaking the news, no PvE was cancelled before OW2 even launched, and they didn’t deem it necessary to disclose that info for 4 seasons, hell they kept lying even till recently. Before Starwatch dropped they basically said “Starwatch is testing PvE elements! Get excited! Buy the Battlepass!” Only to pull the rug out from under us. I bought every battlepass since launch because I wanted to support a game I knew could be better, and I gave Blizzard’s shareholders exactly what they wanted. They got my money, so now they stab me in the back and run. Doesn’t matter that I uninstalled OW2 the day after the news was broke, I already paid the price of a full game which OW2 is not. It’s embarrassing that the PvP is so bad when the entire team has been on it since before launch. Hog and Sombra have needed reworks since launch and they’re slated for “Season 7 and beyond”. That’s the full team’s work there. What a joke. That’s not good enough. The beauty of video games and story telling is that you get to truly feel like you are there. Sure you’re subconsciously aware that all you are doing is staring at a glowing rectangle and pressing buttons, but at least on some level, anyone who plays video games can agree they can be immersed. They control the characters, and by extension become part of the story. It’s something movies and books just can’t do. That’s not something we are allowed to have for the world of Overwatch. So yeah. I’m just done. With all the lies, all the buying of meaningless skins for a game who doesn’t even care for the characters who wear them. Blizzard’s higher ups have no respect for what Overwatch was and what it could be, so why would I give a shit about what it is now. They not only let me down, they let Winston down. They let Lucio down, they let Reinhardt down. Because now we will never get story or character development in a way that is meaningful. Just comics, books, short animations, and temporary custom games that crawl the story forward every 6 months.

What happened for 3.5 years is Activision-Blizzard kept getting into Publicity disaster after disaster so they pulled out their get out of jail free card and showed "Diablo IV" then they moved ALL of their devs over to Diablo IV production to try and push it out as fast as possible because they werent actually working on it when they showed that Diablo IV trailer and now that D4 is dropping they are coming out and saying "we're sorry we are scrapping the PVE in O2 we've been working on" but they haven't honestly been working on it at all, they just wanted all your money to keep flowing in and knew if they told you what was actually going on you wouldn't continue to drop money into Overwatch 2, Activision-Blizzard and Bobby Kotick are pure evil, I hope D4 fails so bad but I know it won't, the nostalgia outweighs peoples distrust of Activision-Blizzard
