I'm new to this hair unit and your channel. I recently got a unit (2 weeks ago), and I have tape stuck in my new hair. Can you help?

Hey Jake! Thank you for ur videos! They are so helpfull!! I do have a question, do you use 99% or 70% Isopropyl for removal? My Salon (in Germany) is selling me a cleaning Tonic basend on Isopropyl, special for Hairsystem and i'm now looking if i can use any normal Isopropyl, because the Products are so expansive!! :)

If u spray alcohol on the piece and let it soak while on your scalp...often thé piece will détach without any tape on it if enough isopropyl alcohol is used...adding a little conditioner with the rubbing alcohol helps limit the drying effect from the alcohol and thén soak your scalp in solvent...also thé less tape or any adhésive used, thé less harsh thé maintenace..for a long time i used To cut each piece of tape in halves and used as little tape as possible.youd be s urprised how a piece can stay on with very little tape as long as you have it on thé périmètre and thé middle of your scalp

I'm going to give this a try Jake, and see how it goes. That does seem to be a common issue and if this helps prevent it, it's worth the extra bit of effort. It's really great seeing you on a regular basis through these videos. I'm really enjoying them and find them very useful.

Jake Kent Hey Jake. It actually worked quite well. It really helped prevent the actual hair from sticking in the glue. As far as the hair system in general, there’s definitely a learning curve but with you, Curtis and a few others, it’s helped tremendously. I think I’ve got the lining up the system down to a T now. I make a very, very tiny dot on each side of the lace with a brown marker where it meets my bio hair. That way I know exactly how far to go with the tape to match at the temple area on each side. Then when applying the system, I remove the backing of about a one inch size of tape from behind the dot on the one side and put only that side in place on the one side of my head. Then I remove the backing of the tape on the other side (one inch size) and stretch it (not force it though) across my head and put that side down to match up with my shaved hairline. Once those two spots are in place, i remove all the rest of the backing while the rest of the system is flipped forward on my head. I installed one of those extendable mirrors to the wall and face it towards my large bathroom mirror. It gives me a perfect view of the top of my head to slowly roll the rest of the unit in one inch sections backwards on my head lining it up perfectly with my shaved hairline around the perimeter of my head. Then all I have left to to is glue the front down. Another useful tip I found helpful is holding down the spots you attached with the tape to your head for a good 10 seconds before moving on to the next one inch section. The method worked perfectly.

You could also use a calm or brush to brush the trapped hair away from the base after applying alcohol/cleansing tonic all around in one go and peel off the tape afterwards. If you have a lace front and are using tapes, the best thing you can do is to spray alcohol/cleansing tonic through the hair (from above) to where the tape sits. Let it sit for a few minutes and then gently pull up the unit. This way the tapes will stick to your head instead of the unit. Much easier to clean and less hair getting lost.

I'm going to try that thank you!

Thanks Jake....great tip! I heard someone somewhere say they try to take it off with the tape sticking to their head and not the unit. I cannot seem to do that. To be honest with you, I'm able to go one month between changes and the tape actually seems to almost liquify. Of course you work out a lot so I understand you can't go that long. I'm activity but in a less intense way. Thanks man, another great one!!

I do this but use C-22. Gotta love a bit of citrus 🍊
@TheJmcobb844 жыл бұрын
Have you been able to use a sulfate free shampoo to remove the c22 from the hair or do you need a shampoo with more cleaning properties? I only wash my system when I take it off to rebond but use the Pro Hair Labs sulfate shampoo which gets all the solvent out but leaves the hair extremely dry. 😑

Shampoo with sulfates will dry it out more. Deep condition your hair!

Or you can put a redliner tape, and pull it all off in one swoop. But I only put both tapes on back and sides and ultra hold adhesive in front for a better hairline.
@JakeKent4 жыл бұрын
Yeah i gotta try redliner. Got a product link for me?

@@joshgates2671 How does the red liner tape work exactly? Do you put it directly over the other tape on the system? My biggest problem is not getting the tape off the hair system base but its actually getting it off my scalp. It seems nearly impossible and gets into my bio hair when i try to wash it off causing me to spend an hour in the shower trying to get it off. Would you have any tips to remove tape from the scalp? I go for about 2 weeks of hold time, perhaps thats too much?
