I had an original Bose L1 system. I swapped in a compact bass cab instead of the Bose sub, and gigged it for my basses and guitars, vocals, and occasionally for keys. Fantastic dispersion, and particularly good in bad rooms.

I always have an issue with these mixing apps, in a three man band, with no sound engineer. The guitarist and bassist are already running apps for their modellers, and the drummer doesn’t even know when a song has ended most of the time. We throw a chicken at him to get him to stop…

I use a 15" (with tweeter) 2500 watt PA speaker with modelers. It is certainly a little bigger and heavier than, say, the Fender Tonemaster-but handier than bringing my 100w half stack it more than keeps up with, it is well worth it. It works super well for me, running a modeler and switching from recording to power amp in with a half stack to PA speaker is all about the EQ. I don't just play guitar, and I don't just play 6s. Sometimes I play bass, a lot of time I play jazz with an 8 string Strandberg. I don't want muddy, but this means I certainly want low end. Sometimes I don't know if the bassist is making it to a jazz gig, I can cover low end easily and still play in the "jazz guitar" realm. Of course it works fine for more traditional guitar and bass usage from soft clean Fender and Alembic stuff with a strat or jazz bass, to modern groove death with 8 strings down to C# and 5 strings down to drop F. So, it works well for all applications just to use a PA imo... No one I have met has had any qualms except for tube-purist-heads that listen with their eyes and don't play out of the house lol!

We own quite a large amount of these Evolves both 30 & 50 series. We use them quite a lot for the smaller corporate events in hotels and small venues. Decent little system with plenty of options. I’ve even used them as an extra delay system at the back of the room before to fill in awkward angles in venues.

i've used pa's for modelers since the first pod many decades ago. it's all eq. i've bought some of the high dollar frfr stuff and even cabs for modelers but always went back to the basic old pa. it's already at the gig. it sounds good and the crowd could not care less.

You actually can control the EFX without a phone. I have the Evolve 30M and don't use a phone at all. Just the control on the back. You can access everything that way and it's not a big deal once you figure out how to do it. Nice thing is that I can set everything from the rear control and save. Next time all I have to do is turn it on--the vocals, acoustic guitar, elect guitar, bass, and backing tracks all set up with EFX, respective levels, reverb, etc, all perfect. All I have to do is set the master level and I'm ready to go. No messing around at all... no phone needed.

As “musicians” who play through PA’s, I LOVED this content… Yeah the amount of can carry the room, but the PA reinforces that sound, so guitar takes on PA stuff is great.

Youll get a great guitar tone with this PA using the Two Notes Cabs, tweaking the Low and Hi Cut. Turn off the Tonex Cabs, run Torpedo CAB and be happy!

These sort of systems have to defy physics - quite literally really - to be great. So it is impressive what can be done.

The Bose S1 PA works great for acoustic - Guitar Notes & Notions (@GuitarNotions) just did a video featuring her own Bose S1 system with the wireless components for a mic and guitar (kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3vFpHmoZ557qMksi=oQjiGAW20XSb1iB8). I have no idea how well her PA would work for electric guitar, but if you listen to her acoustic guitars, they all sound beautiful paired with a variety of pre-amp pedals and pickups that she uses. It’s tough to know what to choose with so many options out there these days. Should one buy an amp? PA? Use a regular speaker system meant for monitoring audio? And should we use pre-amps on the guitar or pedals? Should we use effects pedals, built-in amp effects, and/or modeling software for effects and cabinet tones? And what’s the best all around option for people who play both acoustic AND electric? It’s nice to have options, yet entirely confusing to know which direction to go in - and many of us don’t have enough disposable income to keep experimenting with constantly revolving gear. Maybe you can help us figure this out, Henning. What’s the best all around budget solution to get great tone and effects for both acoustic and electric guitar playing (possibly even something that also sounds nice with bass, uke, and other stringed instruments) for home and possibly small gig use? How does one get a great all around solution for our favorite stringed instruments without totally going nuts on price? An easy to use setup that can do cleans as well as rock out, and has our favorite effects, without totally breaking the bank? A setup that won’t rely on a computer and is easy for anyone to access and use (many of us don’t even have computers anymore with such capable mobile phones). Whether it’s a modern or more traditional setup, what does the player who likes to dabble in various instruments and music genres supposed to do for a setup without being overcome by a load of gear and without breaking the bank? Help! 😂

That makes me sad, but I am usually sad when music is played from these kind of portable PAs, usually way too loud for the speakers and the space on top to compensate for something.

Depends on the size of the crowd. I've done it with just one and it worked fine. Only thing that was not quite loud enough was the bass guitar. It did sound really good, but could have been a little louder. I think with two of them linked it would be great. That's my next goal (getting a 2nd 30M). These things are SO portable and easy to set up. They sound great, and once you've dialed in your mix, you can save it and just recall it exactly the same every gig. This is SO much easier than what we had to haul around 30 years ago!

You could tailor what ever IR that is used to suit the PA, it will not have the same low resonance as a guitar cab that you might like to have as the player, but it can sound very close to for the audience. I’m using Audio Assault's aIR Impulse Rack with a multiple IR’s of the same cab with different mic’s and positions to adjust and mix to get a satisfying result to use with my PA.
