Thank you for sharing, im thinking about investing in one at the moment. At one side im feeling a bit down to pay that much for a device that fails, but on the other hand im happy to see that the customer service is just great. Im really in between atm😅

They did fix the issue and the device has not failed again. I was just overpowering it and the software was prematurely shutting it down. I still use the machine all the time and love it.

Great review and follow up. That slip is concerning! Cause that could cause a huge tweak on your back especially in mid set while pulling some big weight. That is definitely a safety concern, will be interesting how Vitruvian responds!
@DylanBradley
@DylanBradley Жыл бұрын
Yea the slip isn’t ideal. But if your core is braced appropriately (which it should be at those weights) I don’t think you’ll have a problem. I’ve got another follow up video coming out tomorrow where I have a full failure… not ideal but after speaking with vitruvian it’s not a hardware problem. It’s a safety feature that is built in to the software and basically the speed + weight of my lifts was causing the software to shut off the resistance. So they are working to fix that with a firmware update.

This is interesting given that one of the cheaper competitors (wolfmate h1) claims to use the same servo motors but is only guaranteed to work consistently to 300 lbs.
@DylanBradley
@DylanBradley Жыл бұрын
So I’ve spoken with vitruvian directly and they think it’s likely due to a combination of that speed and weight that I’m lifting that triggers the software to stop the machine, rather than the hardware failing. That’s a good thing because that means it’s a firmware update away from being fixed. I haven’t seen the wolfmate H1 before. Looks very similar to vitruvian. It’s good to see competitors. I still love my vitruvian and even though wolfmate can go to 300lbs, that isn’t quite enough for me.

Wow. This is a problem Vitruvian needs to address. The big selling point for this device is its ability to load much higher weight than its competitors. If this machine cannot consistently handle higher loads, then I feel as if the advertised max load weight is just for "show". However, It's good to hear that Vitruvian is covering this under their warranty. Do you know is this is happening with "Old School" mode or only the "Time Under Tension"?
@DylanBradley
@DylanBradley Жыл бұрын
Time under tension for me. To be fair it doesn’t happen often and of my 5 sets over 400 (I went up to 430) that video was from, I only had it slip once as seen in the video. And the machine performed perfectly otherwise. So as I said in the video, I don’t think it’s a huge problem but it is something that like can be fixed and should be fixed if the data says it’s a recurring issue.

Get a generator or inverter. You just need 1k watts of power. The machine is portable but it’s not that portable yet. something like the max pro would be a better solution for a highly portable gym. It’s main downside is it’s only concentric, no eccentric force.
@tekaronhiakha82
@tekaronhiakha82 Жыл бұрын
Just a question for informational purposes not defending. How tall are you? I am just wondering if your length combined with your explosiveness is playing a factor. Tbh I have never seen someone move through that concentric motion so fast at that weight. I am sure you have tried going slower, do you still have that issue when doing so?
@DylanBradley
@DylanBradley Жыл бұрын
Im 6’ 200lbs. From my conversations with vitruvian speed + resistance could be a factor. When I go slower I haven’t had the issue. But it’s tough trying to move slowly while also trying to move 400+ lbs.

The max weight according to the vitruvian website for a user is 330lbs. If you’re close to that weight and one factor is that you’re really tall, I’d make sure that the space you’re in has high enough ceilings. Just reach your arms up and make sure you have at least 6”-8” clearance between your hands and the ceiling. That way you can know if you can do all the standing presses and stuff. And if you do weigh 330lbs or more then maybe you have to earn your vitruvian by losing a few pounds to get under 330lbs and the vitruvian can be a reward to help you on your next phase of your health and fitness journey.

@@DylanBradley thank you DB! I pre-ordered an speediance gym pal. And I started looking on the website today for the maximum weight of the user. But saw nothing stating that I’m about 310 pounds maybe 320. And I just have a feeling this piece of equipment can’t hold my weight. Do you know about this equipment? What do you think? Already know the quality isn’t there with the plastic and everything. I was trying to purchase this one for now until Vitruvian comes out with the commercial grade version. If it ever comes out, I don’t know.
@DylanBradley
@DylanBradley Жыл бұрын
@@juanp1089 the speediance can only go up to around 200-225lbs for resistance. And likely it has a lower user weight limit. Now you can probably still get a decent workout in but don’t expect to do any sort of heavy lifts on squat, deadlifts and bench. I weight 200 and I can do reverse lunges for reps on the vitruvian with 200+ of resistance. And since I love doing heavy legs, no other smart home gym fit my criteria.

@@raiden225005 that might because of how it’s set up. The only problem is that it only goes up to 225 lbs of resistance. That’s going to be very limiting for someone who weighs a lot.

Check out other videos on my channel. I probably have the most videos reviewing and using the vitruvian out there. For me, my lifestyle and workout goals it's the best thing since sliced bread. But there are obviously compromises... I wish it had a pulley system so I could hit my back from my tradition angles - rows and pull downs... and it is expensive- which I originally offset by making videos and linking my affiliate link but the performance has been down since they changed up their affiliate tracking system- kinda bummed about that, but still like the machine... But the price compared to a fancy gym or if you have multiple people in your household using it evens out over time. Plus I am way more efficient with my workouts and I get more in so that helps justify the price for me. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative then the speediance might be one to check out- just know that that you can't lift more than 225 on it- which is fine for all the small muscles but limits you if you like heavy bench, squat and deadlifts.
@newhorizon1355

@@newhorizon1355 idk… I can do well over 400lbs deadlift and squat and about 275 on bench with free weights and have maxed this machine out at 440 with deadlift, 402 on back squats, 230 on alternating lunges and hit 250 on bench with the vitruvian. The movements are a little harder bc of the constant tension so your body has to adapt, especially on bench press- that’s the hardest for me. Digital weight allegedly can be 20% hard than the same lift and weight with a free weight.

Sounds like electric motor isn't quite strong enough to handle repeated uses near their max rated load. It should probably be a bigger motor and have a lot of overhead. (e.g a motor that could do a max 660 lb, but only lets the user go up to 400, so it's not being overstressed) A lot of fitness companies cheap out on electric motors. Sole has even faced a class action lawsuit for this.
@DylanBradley
@DylanBradley Жыл бұрын
Turns out it’s a firmware issue at this point and not an electric motor problem. They thought at first it was the resistor but after the problem kept happening specifically for me they looked at the machine and discovered that I was triggering a “bug” in the firmware that was causing the machine too turn off the resistance too early. I’m going to be testing out the updated firmware this week to see if I still run into the issue… but other than this small issue my machine works fine. I just have to reset it and it goes back to working perfectly.
