This brings me back to studying abroad in New Zealand. RTDs and Scrumpy were all that I could afford at the time

Haha I was the same in France - lived in an amazing wine region but only drank supermarket box wine!

Thanks for taking one for the team Cara! 😄 I've been noticing this section growing at the store I frequent here in the states. I've tried a jalapeno margarita, a rob roy, a mai tai and an Avation (in bottles) in the past and thought they were serviceable drinks! Very nice to have these options available if I don't have or don't want to spend the $$$ on big bottles of ingredients to make these myself.

There are definitely some good quality options out there now!

RTD's are available here in Canada, but I haven't seen a lot of options available in my province. I also don't know if they're popular here, because I'm usually drinking with a small group of friends, sipping cocktails, or, I'm drinking at a pub.

Trouble with RTD in the UK is it's all 4-5% pish. Too sweet, too soda forward More for the younger market.

When we were younger, 'Whiskey & Coke' was pretty quick and tasty . . . I guess tastes change over the years! 😀 CC

UK subscriber here, we have the Jack and Coke cans on the supermarket shelves over here but I’ve personally never tired one. Makes sense for a sunny outdoor ready mix…. not so much in our grey drizzle.

I have had a train G&T from M&S in the UK...haha!

The Bourbon Junkies did a blind a few days back with a bunch of classic 1:2 (that’s heavier than I would mix) whiskey and cokes and the Jack RTD…😊and the Jack RTD was their clear winnner…their theory was the relative lower ABV. Their regular fave, as I recall was WT 101 and Coke (edit…it was right behind 4 Roses Yellow Label and Coke). It’s been a while since I tried the RTD…from a liquor Store sample…and thought it was solid.

SLB Drinks did an episode on Jack and Cokes too, they liked Knob Creek 9 the most; personally I like Wild Turkey 101 for mine.

@ I am more of a whiskey ginger cat when it comes down to it…but I saw something like a highball Reddit post that also turned me on to the use of Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi or Dr. Pepper as the mixer. Diet Coke (for me vs. Coke) may be 4th. And then there is the maybe Bruce Russell apparently local fave Turkey mixer…Mountain Dew….I think that combo has a name that I forget.

Honestly ginger ale is my favourite mixer too!

I've seen these but have only tried the Mott's Caesar RTD.
@BehindtheBarАй бұрын
Oooh I want to try that! Ceasars are a bit of a pain to mix especially if you're feeling fragile already haha.
@CacheCanadaАй бұрын
@@BehindtheBar I love mixing a Caesar myself as I usually make it a double and spice it up with more tobasco and a couple more shakes of Worcestershire.

Never heard of RTD, I thought it was called premix. I always felt I want getting my money with for it, that maybe they're using another chapter spirit in it..
@BehindtheBar22 күн бұрын
We definitely use premix too!

peace be upon you from me

Personally I think cola is 🤮🤮🤮! (My mixer of choice for whisky is more whisky. 😉) Only tried a few premixed cans and I agree with my wife…usually too much mixer so too sweet. Also tried (unwillingly) a few canned cocktails and the same verdict. Once tried a Mojito that was more like mouthwash! 🤮 So it’s a no from us in the UK though they do seem popular here too, judging by the supermarket shelves. Do it properly and support your bartender I say! 😎

where are you working now?

I'm a little all over the place but this was filmed at Goodwater, a bar I co-own with some friends in Northcote, Melbourne.

Easy to refrigerate, maybe a factor?
@BehindtheBarАй бұрын
Definitely, I think that's a big factor in Australia - you can have plenty in the fridge and chuck them in a cooler for the park/beach and they'll stay nice and cold!
