This is wild. Did not wake up expecting an audio processing conspiracy. I will ask “to what end” would Jason do this. 😂
@MisterTwister55Ай бұрын
@@HamRadioCrashCourse hahaha there’s no conspiracy. There’s just additional processing in his audio that isn’t coming from the radio. I believe it to be 100% unintentional

I didn’t hear anything about a conspiracy…

Let's wait some new firmware updates for the radio

Has there been any talk about firmware? I think it works exactly how it was designed to work. Not sure what they would really change

MisterTwister55, so it looks like his video is flawed. You have the rig, can you do the same test he did and report back. Thanks, Mark

It was a weird video. There were some strange audio glitches that might have occurred in editing. Yeah. Whether it was intentional or not, I don't know.
@MisterTwister55Ай бұрын
@@mediocreman2 I don’t think it was intentional. I think his audio processing on his microphone is what made the glitches

Post processing of the audio in the video aside, the ASP “feature” is some DSP…nothing fancy there. However, the band scope part of the original video is telling in that the noise floor gets jacked up too…meaning the RF gain is also increased. If you’re in a strong intermodulation environment, how good is the radio’s selectivity when this gain is jacked up? I wonder if it gets like old radios where the front end gets wiped out from the adjacent signals. That would defeat the purpose of the DSP if the signal itself is unusable. Part 90 LMR devices like that APX on your bench have this issue to some extent now on analog signals. The radio processes everything digitally via the vocoder and essentially has to reconstruct analog signals back to analog, which leads to some terrible audio in some cases. This Yaesu “invention” seems to be in the same boat…solving a problem that needn’t exist.

Maybe Jason's radio is glitchy and needs a firmware update to correct it.
@MisterTwister55Ай бұрын
The "glitchy" audio we hear is happening after it comes out of the radio 100%.

@@MisterTwister55 Oh, I see. Hey, does this radio have any serious memory management for scanning like memory banks? Or is it just those pmgs? They're ok, but not really great for doing a lot of scanning.

I have the ftm 150 myself I don't like the ASP on the radio because on a repeater it makes it sound like in the background like you're on an am cb channel with sideband bleeding in on it sounds gargling .

@@Tommy-K4BWN yup I have yet to find a use case where the benefit is better than the consequences

Since the last time I posted to you about my Yaesu FTM 150Rasp about how the noise and sound like sideband bleeding over on 11 mam frequency just found out what my problem was going to menu go to number 41 and turn off the Dual received mod and it stopped. I just kept playing with it foaming with it and finally found what it was after I'll try this here so I cut that off the noise is gone now it was doing a frequency hop you can be watching the frequency you're talking on and you'll see another frequency jump up it was the item number 41 in the menu dual receive mod was causing it. The duel receive mod was causing me to have two frequency jumping on the same frequency that I'm talking on so I had to cut it off now it's a good radio now I guess I'll put it back in my car now. 73 K4BWN
