I have 4 Wilson Pro Staf RF 97 - from new one was 328, one 333, one 342 and one 348 grammes - they should have been 340 - further more the balance of each racquet was really different - the 348 version was around 2 pt head light were as the the 333 was the only one the was on specs with regards to balance. I switched to Yones VCore 98 305 gram and they are both exactly 305 grammes and equally balanced - and the paint does not chip of the first time you play with them. For the price Wilson asked for the RF 97 it is a disgrace

Actually QC issues negates most of novelty (if any) coming from the new versions. For example Blade V9 came out with higher SW than V8. With Wilson's QC you may end up with just the opposite. Plus TW's matching does not guarantee the advertised specs. They can send you two 293g.

Perhaps I'm the exception but my Head Gravity Pro was just 1 gram headlight. Yonex have been often known to be a gram head light, head heavy which ever so I'm pretty happy. Great racquet by the way. No free power with Gravity Pro you need to play up to it, but I accepted the challenge and my game came ahead leaps and bounds. I suppose what I'm trying to say is that China has the ability to make quality racquets. Why they don't choose too is an enigma. I'm hoping to pick up an Ezone 97D cheap. Wow I loved the thing, No two ways about it Yonex is a fantastic company that all others need to aspire too. Comforting to know that someone still sees quality control a necessary business expense and I'm certain Yonex sales do better because of the QC in there "Made in Japan" racquets. In fairness Yonex's cheaper racquets are made in China, so there's that to this story also. I do think if I'm paying this much for quality, the owner should insist on standardized QC parameters.

Someone just casually had a racquet that was produced in 1967 handy for you to switch to mid match? Also you didn't have any backup racquets as a "former juniors champion" when even casual recreational players have multiple/backup racquets? Cool, we believe you. Let's just drop the world's pro and artisanal racquet craftsmen standards since racquet differences don't matter by a former junior player's standards. It's always advisable to judge things by the standards of a 14 year old or a 4.0 rated (sigh...).

I agree. Unless you are a top 100 players in the world competing in top tier events, variations between racquets are not that important.
