Tech, YES, use it correctly and use it safely and it will add to your driving experience and might just save your life or prevent serious injury. The week before I picked up my NX 450h+ I read all 800+ pages of the user manual because I knew the dealer would show me how to connect my phone, show me a few things and send me on my way. It is dangerous and irresponsible to learn the tech in your car on the road. Learn it parked in your driveway and learn it well. The big rule for me is - never look at or touch the display screen unless the Lane Tracing Assist is on and working correctly. After driving the car for a year, I'm confident I can look away from the road for 5-10 seconds and I will remain safe. There is tech that I find frustrating. I'm really use to talking to my house and my phone and I thought giving commands to my car would be easy - "Hey Lexus change the fan speed to 3" versus "Hey Lexus turn the fan speed to 3" One of them works the other is way outside possible fan speeds. I suspect they are using the same Google speech engine I have on my phone and in the house but this is silly, frustrating and implemented poorly. In general I think Lexus has implemented the tech very well. I realize they are not a software company but they are going to have to learn and drive updates from the user perspective.

Well said. Yes - they are using Google for the speech recognition and hopefully with the newer updates the recognition is local and more enhanced with natural language. Definitely not perfect with the natural language processing. Overall, I'm good with the tech, but I have seen many people having issues and not liking the tech and that is why this was a topic I wanted to talk about. Lexus being #2 is very odd as they aren't a consumer software oriented company. They do have a lot of software like all the ECUs in the car and how they operate.

I agree with people hating that most functions in the screen,such as climate controls. Much prefer buttons for everything

I actually don't mind the NX climate controls, but definitely some features needs a few touches before you can get the job done.

Question… I noticed a few videos on remote parking…an extension of the advanced park feature. I assume we don’t have this feature in Canada? I do have the advanced park feature in my 2025 NX350h executive package but no “park” feature in my Lexus app.
@lsft

For Canada we only have advanced park. Remote park is not available even in 2025 model year. Originally in 2022, it was available. But Lexus refunded every NX owner because they were not able to release it on time for the 2022 model year.

The more tech the better! We live in a time where sitting in traffic for protracted periods means that our senses are dulled and even frustrated and triggered by the boredom and irritation of traffic. Technology aids the quality of the driving experience and the levels of safety with clever passive and active support mechanisms, let alone better entertainment to soothe the nerves and relax the intensity. It’s no longer about performance and speed (although manufacturers continue to make vehicles 50% heavier and 100% faster!). The challenge with technology isn’t its vastness, it’s making it reliable and effective as vehicle manufacturers are in many cases poor quality with its manufacture and operation.

There is a lot of work to stabilize the system and ensure all tech works for 99% of the people. But in the tech world the 80% rule applies. As long as 80% of the users are covered and working the 20% will work one day.

@@lsft In many ways I wonder what would happen if Vehicle manufacturers partnered with the tech giants like Apple, Google etc. We'd get a far better and more seamless tech interface. Yes, it was proposed by the tech's but the vehicle manufacturers shied away as they feel they'd lose the opportunity to gouge us with subscription models as they want complete control of an area thats many steps away from their core competence. The future will be interesting.

Yes!!! I love the car. Fantastic lines, beautiful shape but enough with the tech which really does very little at all. I find it all to be very distracting, forcing my eyes onto the display rather than keeping them on the road. Add to that the way it is all implemented and turned on by default whereas it should be the other way around. The car slams on the brakes when I back out of a parking spot thinking that there's an object or person behind me (there wasn't in any of the instances when it happened). To turn this garbage off, one has to stare at a warning light on the cluster and acknowledge each time with a press of the menu button. The constant warnings, beeping, the insane layout of the functions of the infotainment system completely take away from the driving experience. Cars these days are built for the stupid. I'm surprised the damn thing doesn't check my prostate, although who knows after the next "software update". Enough already! Who's bright idea was it to make everything function by means of a touch? Roads are uneven, the vehicle constantly moves up and down when in motion and trying to press the desired part of the screen becomes a fricking exercise in aim and reflex skills. And I am "tech savvy". I work in the technology sector. This is nothing more than car manufacturers showing off with their "innovation" and trying to out-do each other.

Thanks for your input. Should we go back to the old days of physical buttons and no infotainment screens?

@@lsft Absolutley, or at least to some extent. Sure, tech is good and has its place. I have nothing against infotainment screens, but let's not go overboard car manufacturers and let's limit them to that which they are meant for. Fantastic video LSFT! Very informative. I would point any prospective buyer to your channel prior to making the decision. I watch and write this as I sit at my Lex service center waiting for the 8K service :)
